Villains (2019)
I liked it
I liked it. It was unique and funny but also a little disturbing. I didn't feel it tried too hard or took itself too seriously. Im always satisfied with a sorta happy ending and this was EXACTLY the kind of happy ending I love to see (it's a rare one! Especially in a thriller). All the main characters are believable. I REALLY like the younger woman but was distracted often by how much she looks like a young Gwen Stefani mixed with Billie Lourd and Leslie Mann! Seriously uncanny. The story was kind of predictable but the film was still enjoyable and had just enough twists to keep me engaged. I would recommend it.
The Watcher (2022)
Why?
I have nothing but questions. Why did the writers not revisit or tie up ANY of the little stories we're presented throughout? No closure. What was the point of the neighbors, when they had no bearing on the plot? I guess they were there only as suspects? It would have been nice if at least one of them actually did have something to do with the letters or the "haunting" with that ghost girl. I'm sure I missed it, but she was actually murdered in that house and this is why her ghost visited the dad while he was asleep? Too many episodes and too many meaningless plot points. It could have been a 90 minute movie but the plot still needs to respect it's viewers with an answer as a reward for watching this drawn out piece of poo! I'm only giving it four stars because most of the characters did grab my interest and/or spook me out. Don't waste your time.
9/11: One Day in America (2021)
Oh my god
It's literally everything I've been looking for for the last twenty years. A detailed thorough, chronological, and PRESENT recollection of this nightmare.
False Positive (2021)
Pretty gross
I was sorta okay with this up until the final scene. It was unnecessary to say the least. I feel like this movie was a vehicle for ilana to bare her breasts a few more times than was needed. I love her on Broad City and she's no doubt a good actress but this movie didn't have anything novel, and it was very predictable.
#killerpost (2016)
Could use some actual footage
I'm only on episode 1 but so far the acting is horrible! The lady who narrates talks so nasally and like a robot, it's hard to watch. There's no actual photos or video of the people they're discussing or any interviews with anyone who was involved in real life! It's just all narration and terrible re-enactments.
A Woman Named Jackie (1991)
Roma Downey cringey at best
My god her accent and melodramatic overreacting made me have to turn it off for a few days and return later. Stephen Collins as Jack is actually quite good mostly because he doesn't even attempt the accent which all actors playing JFK fail terribly at. The story is good of course, but it's their life! She doesn't look like Jackie and just tries to hard with the accent. She would have done better to just tone down her Irish accent and leave it at that. The scenery is pretty good and I'd say an accurate portrayal of the times. From a distance a lot of the screenshots really do resemble actual photos of them. I'm giving it a 5 because it's a pretty good portrayal of the story, but less of Jackie's essence.
Snatched (2017)
Rating here terribly low
This movie is so underrated! The acting is great. The cameos are hilarious - you canNOT go wrong with Christopher Meloni in anything. The characters' development is deep and the jokes are strong and not trite. Amy Schumer won me over with Trainwreck and this movie sealed the deal. Goldie Hawn is seriously funny after all these years and my favorite new actor is the guy who plays the ultimate hero Jeffrey. It's not a bore and the jokes are strong. I recommend this to any true comedy fan.
Neighbors (2014)
Rose Byrne
Pretty much spoiled most of the enjoyment for me. It's pretty funny at times, while unrealistic, but her acting and attempt at comedy are so cringey. She's not cool and she's not likable. I had to review this movie based purely on her acting. She ruins all the scenes she's in.
Kim's Convenience (2016)
It's so bad
The fake accents are too obvious and the stories are boring.
Killer Women with Piers Morgan (2016)
Could the interviewees be any more boring?
I'm on episode three and the women offer very little input or analysis of their murders. Just like "yes and no and I don't know" replies. Not in depth at all and they show little remorse or introspection about their crimes. I could barely get through the third boring episode.
Buster (1988)
Loved it
I've watched it three times this week! I've always had a huge crush on Phil Collins and now I'm even more in love with him after seeing him act. The juxtaposition of scenery from the beginning of the film in dreary old London to the second half in gorgeous Acapulco really adds to the story. The love between him and the wife is palpable and believable and he's just so damn charming. Their hesitance/inability to adapt to the tropical climate/beach is hilarious but understandable. The soundtrack is great... I didn't know, but the Four Tops song "Loco in Acapulco" was actually written by Phil for this movie. A great watch and a new fave!
Farm House (2008)
I thought it was good
I've been trying to find this streaming somewhere but it is near impossible other than a weird YouTube rendition! I actually bought the DVD on sale at 7-11 back in 2010 and have been wanting to show my husband for the past five years-but too lazy to hook up my DVD player. It's not boring, has decent to good acting, it is convincing and scary! Love Steven Weber in anything and the twist was unforeseen. I def watched it like ten times in the long ago and would love to find it online again.
