They Called Him Mostly Harmless (2024)
Interesting to true crime enthusiasts
The only thing that I'm really taking away from this documentary is what a loathsome narcissistic P. O. S. Christie is. She doesn't really seem to care at all about the case, she just wants to be the one to solve it. I know exactly what kind of person she is; she gets off on power, on being in charge. Basically, an entitled Karen. The one comment that defined her, made after she shot her mouth off about 'cracking the case', wasn't anything to do with any kind of regret about making a mistake in identifying the hiker, it was about how the mistake would make her look. What an awful human being. Christie, I hope you're reading this. Do better. Be better.
Justified: City Primeval (2023)
Boring. Sad.
I was really looking forward to the return of Raylen Givens. Turns out, I needed a bit of 'Justified', too. Whatever this was, it wasn't even close. This season might have been ok of they would have edited down to scenes that actually were relevant to whatever the main story was (to be fair, by episode 3, 'City Primeval' was so convoluted that there was really no way to recover the story from the quicksand that it had been thrown into) although that would probably bring the season to 3 or 4 episodes.
If you were a fan of 'Justified' in its original run, do yourself a favor - skip this, and just remember the show as the great piece of television history that it was.
A Friend of the Family (2022)
A cheesy insult
Having seen the Netflix documentary "Abducted In Plain Sight", and been so thoroughly fascinated by it that I spent the next few years reading everything that I could on Jan Broberg's story, I have got to report that at 11 minutes into episode one of Peacocks 'A Friend Of The Family', I had begun thinking this series was dumb. But now, 32 minutes in, I know it. It kind of takes all of the substance out of Jan's story. Yeah, the acting isn't great, but it's the fact that the story is so glossed over that is the real insult.
Disappointed 😞
If you're at all interested in the story, watch the documentary.
