The first episode was a dream, the rest is more like a nightmare... Wasted potential
6 January 2024
This had such amazing start, episode one was one of the best episodes I have ever watched, the storytelling was so captivating and what an emotional story, I actually cried. So believe me when I say I was really looking forward to the rest of the series, but what a let down.

The rest of episodes were just a bunch of empty filling scenes with overdramatic characters and underwhelming subplots.

Majority if the cast in this are very experienced and tge acting is superb, but the script is just too silly and nonsensical.

I give it a 6 mainly because the actual main plot and storyline of their past life was extremely good and interesting but they could have done it in just 4/6 episodes. The modern storyline was just dragging and lacking an actual plot.

I guess you will love this if you are into telenovelas and enjoy very extreme and dramatic plots.

Reacher (2022– )

How are you gonna take down whoever's doing this? Painfully
4 January 2024
This series is just awesome.

Thrilling, fun and super entertaining.

Bare in mind I haven't watched any other versions of Jack Reacher and I haven't read the books yet so I have nothing to compare it with.

Alan Ritchson As Reacher is just cool to watch. I have watched him in a few things but somehow watching this I kept thinking about his role in Blue Montain State! Some of the faces he makes keep me from taking him seriously, mostly when he jokes around or does anything goofy. But this character fits him so well, and the action scenes are just awesome to watch, he does look like a beast. Absolutely love his acting.

The rest of the cast is amazing and I love the bickering and teasing between them all, great chemistry.

Both seasons have a really interesting plot and the script is pretty good too. I can't wait to keep watching more of this series, I am enjoying thoroughly.

Wholesome love and friendship stories plus powerful and fierce female leads plus the least toxic male characters ever, equals a recipe for success. Love love love.
30 December 2023
What an epic drama, so enjoyable and emotional. I never cry with any series and this one got me a couple of times.

The show is incredibly well made and the script its very compelling, with a lot of action, incredible fight scenes, funny moments, loads of teasing and beautiful camaraderie and friendship between all characters. It will hook you from the moment you start watching.

In the second half there's a few slow and draggy episodes but it will speed up in the last few episodes again. They gave us a pretty decent ending in the episode 34 but they added new subplots and twists (very tragic and heartbreaking) after that and everything felt rushed, including the ending.

This is why Im not giving the highest rating.

My favorite part about this drama is how well written and layered all characters are. There's something special about each one of them and you will feel a special connection.

I am absolutely obsessed with all female characters in this. There's ZERO female characters written as doormats in this series. They are fierce and stoppable and they will all play a key role in the story. The development of all of them, and how they grow through the experiences they are living and the people they meet ( specially Princess Yang Ying) is so thrilling to watch.

And the way they all lift each other up, including the male characters, criticizing stereotypical gender roles and regarding women as equal and important as them. Just wow.

This was my first drama of the both main leads and I am a fan. Liu Shi Shi and Liu Yu Ning had such beautiful chemistry.

Greenest flag award for the main male lead's character. Not one toxic thing about him, and made the main love story very enjoyable to see. I found myself showcasing the biggest smiles when they were flirting each other on screen.

Despite its flaws it was an almost perfect drama, with very wholesome relationships of epic love and friendship and incredible character development.

You will laugh, cry, be surprised and feel the deepest sweetest love so many times. Don't miss this one!

The Matchmakers (2023– )
8/10
Love is everything and the beginning of everything. The heart to love your parents and to love your children. It all starts with a couple's love.
27 December 2023
This historical drama brought a fresh and original script to the table, a rarity in the genre. The narrative bravely delves into the hidden aspects of society during that period, shedding light on topics often overlooked. The exploration of ageism, the challenges faced by widows, and the subtle portrayal of homosexuality added a layer of realism that made the drama stand out.

One of the most compelling aspects was its unapologetic confrontation of societal norms, particularly the discrimination against women. Despite enduring prejudices, the portrayal of women as powerful figures managing households showcased their resilience and strength. The drama succeeds in making viewers reflect on historical injustices and appreciate the often-overlooked roles women played in shaping families.

The comedic elements were not only entertaining but also remarkably on point. Rowoon's portrayal of the male lead was nothing short of exceptional, perfectly capturing the essence of the genre. While the main leads lacked chemistry, the secondary couples more than made up for it. Their captivating stories added depth to the overarching plot, making the drama a wholesome and emotionally resonant experience.

While a few plot holes and questionable twists, especially in the last episode, may have raised eyebrows, the overall journey was a positive one. This one managed to deliver a feel-good drama with a satisfying ending that leaves the audience content. It's a testament to the show's ability to balance social commentary, humor, and heartwarming relationships, making it a must-watch for anyone seeking a unique historical drama experience.

Cdramas getting rid of their typical, shy, naive and useless baby-voiced female leads?? Sign me up! This was so fire and hot to watch.
24 December 2023
What an absolute surprise.

The ratings are quite low and I was wondering if it was because it was another light fluffy cdrama with the same trope of cliches we are used to. Oh boy, was I wrong.

China produces cdramas at a high speed and because there are so many, not all of them are worth watching.

But lately they are making loads of changes and you can tell in the quality, specially in the characters. They are slowly getting rid of those stereotypical annoying useless/baby voiced female characters, they are writing quality scripts and creating witty, smart, strong female characters and I am all for it.

This is drama has a very simple story with a plot we have seen before and yes it is sweet and fluffy.

So what's the difference? The difference is in the characters, specially the female lead. This drama has one of the best character development story I have watched, and the personalities written for them are absolutely realistic.

Our female lead behaves like a real woman, her personality is strong and determined, she takes the initiative to express her feelings and her desires, acting on them too. It was very refreshing to watch ( and very sexy)

The chemistry between the leads is extremely high in this one. I can't stress enough how wild every gaze and every conversation and every touch between them was. I don't remember ever a cdrama where the female lead had so much freedom within her own skin and relationship. It was very attractive to watch.

The secondary stories were very engaging too, great non cliche subplots and again very well written realistic characters.

Overall was amazing and I 100% recommend it. If I don't give it a 10 is because I believe this should have been shorter, it got a bit dragging for a few episodes after the episode 18 but then recovered at the end.

An attraction that defies calculation. A force that sweeps you off your feet. It draws to an endless pull until two finally meet as one. That's the power of fate.
23 December 2023
I was really looking forward to this drama and I was not disappointed.

CGI & Effects, sceneries, sets costumes, etc..in this drama were made with quality.

I usually don't enjoy watching these period dramas about war because it is very depressing and heartbreaking to see the capacity of the brutality and cruelty of men (the japanese really caused havoc and irreparable damage to Korea).

But in this case and although there's a few very real and powerful scenes where emotions take over, thanks to the supernatural elements of the beasts and the very unique and quirky personality of Park Seo Joon's character and his romantic storyline, the darkness is somehow compensated and it works wonders.

It has been a very long time since we watched Park Seo Joon in a drama, and I missed him. I truly enjoy his acting. He has the capability of taking this character ( Jang Tae Sang) and transform, he showed us an infatuated man with all his awkwardness and clumsiness but also a man tired and in agony for what life has put him through, and you can feel all his pain, anger, frustration and then determination to keep fighting to keep surviving hell.

Han Soo Hee was fantastic too, I am used to her kicking ass with her roles and this wasn't less. She had great chemistry with Park Seo Joon and the dramatic scenes were very painful to watch. Truly amazing actress.

Rest of the cast was remarkable and I cant wait to see the second part of this. Specially Wi Ha Joon, which had a small role so far but I am anticipating he will play a much bigger part in the upcoming episodes.

Overall, amazing drama, very entertaining and well made. Go watch it!

It was love at first listen, his voice really enamored me.
22 December 2023
This is a beautifully made drama but with no essence or substance.

I love the slow pace and how intimate they present every scene to you. There's something magical about how they show parts of Chinese culture, music, folklore and of course food. There's a big food theme in every episode and it is truly fascinating how wonderfully every recipe and sensation is described.

The acting is great and honestly the chemistry between the leads is fantastic too. I adore Zhou Ye, and couldn't recognize her when she has transformed into a shy, naive and inexperienced young woman for this role. You can see her in other dramas like Back from the Brink of Scent of time and she can really act!

Tan Jian Ci's role would not let him shine as his character was very stiff, flat and expressionless, and the only times you could really enjoy him was when he was having romantic moments with the female lead, then his eyes would say everything. Again, great chemistry.

My issue with this drama is that there's no plot whatsoever. Nothing ever happens. It's just a simple and extremely lighthearted storyline where there are just scenes of fluffy unrealistic romance. It gets to a point where is very cringe to watch adult actor behaving like teenagers. I get that this sells in Asia and they romanticize the idea of inexperienced, naive, and innocent to the point of being embarrassed if someone applies medicine on your forearm, but it is not normal at all. It was also cringe to watch 30 year old men chasing after college students and gave grooming vibes when the portrayal of the female leads was so childish.

So although I really like how this drama has been created and produced, It really bored me to death. I recommend it for children or teenagers who are just starting to watch dramas and they just want happy scenes of fluffy romance. Otherwise skip.

Night Has Come (2023– )

Thrilling and entertaining with loads of very graphic bloody violence (be aware)
20 December 2023
The drama is entertaining for sure. The pace is fast, acting is good and has an original concept.

Crazy plot twists and not predictable at all but the last plot twist was too unbelievable. I mean this wasn't a believable drama from the start, a bunch of students get stuck in a youth center and they are forced to start playing a game where they have to kill each other to survive.

Until then everything is good and although there's a few holes in the plot, you can ignore them and enjoy the action and rhythm of trying to figure out who are the bad guys and who will die every night ( be aware there's many very graphic violence and blood in this drama and they are not subtle showing them....)

But then towards the end there's a major change/twist in the plot that it's so unbelievable crazy, I am not sure it works for me. I feel like its the typical kdrama storyline of guilt tripping mixed with revenge koreans love so much and it just frustrates me.

Regardless, I think the ending is very fitting and I don't think we need a sequel for this.

Overall a nice watch for a Friday night with friends.

Bathe in the fire, rise from the ashes.
16 December 2023
This one was very entertaining and it was a surprise.

I have watched a few esports dramas and although this is not the best it is worth the watch.

In terms of the e-games scenes and battles Falling Into Your Smile is way better and the quality of the effects too. Same goes for the romance.

In this one the focus is less in the games or in the romance and more in what happened behind the scenes and what it takes to build a professional e-sports team. It very refreshing to watch the development of the characters and see them struggle trying to start from zero and rise to the top to achieve their dreams.

The drama is filled inspiring relationships of camaraderie, friendship and love and showing how a family can be chosen and when loyal and true to them it will be there for you forever.

I wanted to give it a bit higher rating but there were too many undeveloped storylines and some very frustrating plot holes and characters so I lowered it a bit.

As I fell in love with you, I started to have the will to live for the first time. So how could those feelings be wrong? I was practically dead already but you made me live.
14 December 2023
This one was so frustrating in so many ways but so satisfying in others.

This drama has an amazing story and it has many moments where you won't be able to take your eyes off the screen.

It has just a beautiful script and the narrative and romance are so meaningful, mesmerizing, deep and yet heartbreaking.

The characters are extremely complex, specially in their past life, and due to their tragic fate, they are left wounded but irreversibly tied forever in a twisted love story.

Everything is told in two different timelines and it continues to play us flashbacks from the past so we can understand what happened to them in their past lives. The problem comes when almost in every episode they replay and repeat same scenes over and over again, to the point that gets extremely boring and dragging.

There's way too many filler scenes, characters and conversations that are just absolutely redundant.

I wish this drama would have been made by someone different, it would have been completely different, it actually had the potential of being a masterpiece.

Overall still an okay watch, I enjoyed it and I actually thought the ending was perfectly fitting.

Drama Special: Love Attack (2023)
Season 14, Episode 7

Very enjoyable, filled with meaningful romance and nice values
11 December 2023
I really love the specials that KBS releases once in a while, I am not sure how often they do it but they are usually pretty good stories and the quality overall, including the cast is amazing.

I enjoyed watching this special, it was a short story, very simple and something we have seen before many times in other productions but cute and full of emotion nonetheless.

The acting is better than most of short mini kdramas with more episodes, it was great display of emotions from every member of the cast.

Overall a pretty enjoyable watch, a no brainer if you are looking for a romantic, heartfelt short series and with valuable lessons for life.

Cute, endearing and super funny
11 December 2023
This was such a joy to watch. I literally had a smile on my face the whole two hours.

The story is very simple and straightforward but it is told in a very sweet and genuine way and makes you connect very quickly with the characters and what they are experiencing.

Just finished rewatching Sweet Home for the second time and watching Kin Sung Cheol in this role was such a shock I had to get used to it for a moment. How on earth can he play this innocent, naive, shy and hopeless romantic guitarist and absolutely transform into a psychopath monster in Sweet Home?! What a chameleon, what a performance (in both shows), I am In awe.

Another mention has to be for the little sister Ok Hee ( played by Choi Yoo Ri) gives so much flavor and richness to this drama, I love her character so much.

Overall this was amazing to watch. Great music and original songs as well. Great chemistry amongst the cast, extremely funny and a few romantic fluffs. Watch it, you will have a good time.

You're willing to fight for the people, and im willing to do it with you.
10 December 2023
I love strong women leading roles and this one is one of the best ones I have seen, and very consistent throughout the whole series. The male lead is actually supporting her and never crippling her, overshadowing her or just rescuing her. This has happened in several dramas before, like The Long Ballad or Who Rules The World, where the female lead starts being super strong and independent and the more we watch the more she becomes the typical submissive female lead they love in the very patriarchal asian societies.

Ever since I watched Parallel World I got enamored of Jin Han and his acting and I found this one. His acting as main lead is great here and I love how versatile this role is for him, going from silly and clownish to very dramatic and assertive. I really enjoyed his performance. His chemistry with Peng Xiao Ran as the female lead is great and I truly enjoyed the bromance trio with his brothers.

Although sometimes the main plot wasn't very realistic/logical it was very interesting and gripping and the script was good. Still, the drama is at least 15 episodes too long and some of the subplots too dragging, repetitive and felt underwhelming at times.

There was also a lack of likeable characters in this drama, the majority of them are just too superficial and shallow for you to form any kind of connection.

Overall, This drama was enjoyable and entertaining for the most part. Great main characters, with a superb strong and smart female lead and great fighting choreography/action scenes although a bit too long and dragging.

Awesome

Captain America: The Winter Soldier emerges as a high-octane political thriller within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, delivering a pulse-pounding narrative that combines espionage, moral ambiguity, and superhero action.

Chris Evans continues to embody the steadfast heroism of Steve Rogers, but this time, the narrative thrusts him into a world of uncertainty and conspiracy. Evans showcases the character's resilience and unwavering sense of duty, making Captain America a symbol of integrity in an increasingly complex world.

The introduction of Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/The Falcon adds a dynamic new ally to Captain America's side. The camaraderie between Evans and Mackie injects a fresh energy into the film, and the aerial sequences featuring the Falcon's wings are visually exhilarating.

Scarlett Johansson returns as the Black Widow, and her character undergoes further exploration. The film delves into Romanoff's enigmatic past, adding layers to her character beyond the usual spy tropes. Johansson's performance contributes to the film's overall depth.

The Winter Soldier, portrayed by Sebastian Stan, emerges as a formidable and mysterious antagonist. The character's connection to Captain America adds a personal dimension to the conflict, and Stan's portrayal brings a brooding intensity to the role.

The film's espionage thriller elements are executed with precision, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats with unexpected twists and intense action sequences. The fight choreography and hand-to-hand combat scenes showcase the physical prowess of Captain America and his adversaries.

This movie successfully addresses contemporary themes, including government surveillance and the price of freedom, adding a layer of relevance to the superhero narrative. The film's willingness to explore moral ambiguity and question authority sets it apart within the MCU.

The Russo brothers' directorial style injects a grittier and more grounded tone into the film, reminiscent of '70s political thrillers. The handheld camerawork and realistic fight choreography contribute to the film's immersive atmosphere.

Overall an amazing movie, packed with great action.

Funny, enjoyable and entertaining
10 December 2023
This one takes a bold step in a new direction, offering a character-driven exploration of Tony Stark's vulnerabilities and resilience. This installment deviates from the traditional superhero formula, delivering a narrative that delves into the man behind the Iron Man suit.

Robert Downey Jr. Continues to shine as Tony Stark, showcasing a more introspective and vulnerable side of the character. The film takes Stark out of his comfort zone, stripping away the technology and forcing him to rely on his ingenuity and intellect. Downey Jr.'s performance captures the essence of a hero grappling with post-traumatic stress and the consequences of his actions.

The Mandarin, portrayed by Ben Kingsley, provides a compelling and unexpected twist to the typical superhero villain. The film cleverly subverts expectations, offering a layered and nuanced portrayal that challenges the conventions of the genre. Kingsley's performance adds depth to a character that initially appears as a one-dimensional antagonist.

The narrative's focus on Tony Stark's personal journey adds emotional weight to the film. The exploration of anxiety and self-discovery humanizes the superhero, making him more relatable to audiences. The themes of identity and resilience resonate, creating a storyline that transcends typical superhero tropes.

This one doesn't shy away from humor, and the banter between characters, especially Stark and James Rhodes (Don Cheadle), provides moments of levity amidst the intense action sequences. The film successfully blends humor with the more serious aspects of its narrative.

The action sequences are visually impressive, and the use of technology, particularly the Iron Man suits, remains a highlight. The airborne rescue scene showcases Stark's resourcefulness and ingenuity, reinforcing the notion that the hero is more than just the suit he wears.

Overall awesome fun and super enjoyable.

Iron Man 2 (2010)

Another great iron man movie
10 December 2023
This one suitably cranks up the action and charisma, giving fans another thrilling dose of Tony Stark's wit and superhero prowess. This sequel not only maintains the momentum of the original but also introduces new layers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Robert Downey Jr. Reprises his role as Tony Stark with a magnetic performance that continues to define the character. Stark's journey becomes more complex as he grapples with his own mortality, and Downey Jr.'s charm effortlessly carries the emotional weight of the narrative.

The introduction of Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow adds a dynamic and kick-butt element to the film. Her action sequences are a highlight, and the chemistry between Johansson and Downey Jr. Provides an intriguing dynamic that enriches the overall storyline.

Mickey Rourke's portrayal of Ivan Vanko/Whiplash injects a formidable and personal adversary into the mix. The character's vendetta against Stark adds a layer of tension, and Rourke's performance brings a satisfyingly sinister edge to the film.

The movie successfully expands the Marvel universe, planting seeds for future storylines and introducing elements that would become crucial in later films. The integration of S. H. I. E. L. D., Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), and Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) strengthens the interconnected nature of the MCU.

The film balances its character-driven moments with explosive action sequences, including the iconic Monaco Grand Prix fight and the climactic battle at Stark Expo. The visual effects and technological marvels continue to showcase the cutting edge of Stark Industries and keep the audience immersed in the superhero spectacle.

The humor remains a standout feature, with Tony Stark's quips and banter providing levity amid the more serious plot points. The film doesn't shy away from exploring the consequences of Stark's larger-than-life personality, both in his personal life and on the global stage.

Overall amazing with a stellar cast and electrifying action very worth the watch.

Good enough but forgettable
10 December 2023
Captain Marvel soars into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a mix of cosmic spectacle and '90s nostalgia but lands somewhere in the middle of the superhero spectrum.

Brie Larson brings a confident and charismatic presence to the role, portraying a powerful superhero with a touch of humor. The film attempts to unfold Carol Danvers' origin story in a non-linear fashion, but the execution feels a bit disjointed at times, making it challenging for viewers to fully connect with her character journey.

The '90s setting adds a fun retro vibe, complete with dial-up internet and Blockbuster Video, but it doesn't play a significant role in shaping the narrative. The film's reliance on nostalgia feels more like window dressing than an integral part of the story.

The supporting cast, including Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, adds depth to the film. The dynamic between Carol and Fury, particularly their banter, provides some of the more enjoyable moments.

The Skrulls, the film's shape-shifting alien antagonists, bring an unexpected twist to the traditional superhero-versus-alien conflict. The Skrulls' storyline introduces layers of moral ambiguity, offering a departure from the typical black-and-white portrayal of good and evil.

While this movie attempts to tackle themes of identity and empowerment, the execution feels somewhat formulaic. The film occasionally struggles to find a balance between being a standalone origin story and tying into the larger MCU narrative.

The action sequences are competent, showcasing Captain Marvel's superhuman abilities, but they lack the innovative flair seen in other Marvel films. The visual effects, particularly the de-aging technology used on Samuel L. Jackson, are noteworthy but don't completely erase the uncanny valley effect.

In summary, Captain Marvel is a serviceable addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It introduces a powerful and important character but falls short of achieving the narrative depth and groundbreaking excitement seen in other MCU entries. While it has its moments, it sits comfortably in the middle tier of superhero films, delivering an average viewing experience without leaving a lasting impact.

Spider-Man: Far From Home takes our friendly neighborhood hero on a globetrotting adventure, blending teen comedy, superhero spectacle, and unexpected twists into a thrilling package. This film builds on the charm of its predecessor and adds new layers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Tom Holland continues to excel as Peter Parker, navigating the challenges of being a teenager and a superhero. The film explores Peter's internal struggles, adding depth to his character as he grapples with the legacy left by Tony Stark and the pressures of stepping into larger-than-life shoes.

The European setting provides a refreshing backdrop for Spider-Man's escapades, and the film cleverly combines high-stakes superhero action with the humor derived from Peter's attempts to enjoy a normal vacation. The integration of technology, including the AI-driven EDITH system, adds a contemporary twist to the superhero narrative.

Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio is a standout addition, bringing a charismatic and enigmatic presence to the film. The character's illusions and visual effects contribute to some of the most mind-bending and visually stunning sequences in the MCU, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.

The film's exploration of post-Endgame consequences and the concept of a world without Tony Stark adds a layer of gravitas. It addresses themes of legacy and responsibility while still maintaining a lighthearted tone befitting a Spider-Man adventure.

It seamlessly weaves humor into its action sequences, creating a dynamic and entertaining experience. The chemistry between Tom Holland and Zendaya, who plays MJ, adds a sweet and relatable romantic subplot, enriching the character dynamics.

The mid-credits scene delivers a jaw-dropping revelation that reshapes the narrative landscape and leaves audiences eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Spider-Man's journey. The film not only serves as a standalone adventure but also contributes to the overarching MCU storyline.

Overall entertaining and enjoyable.

Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a youthful exuberance and a fresh take on the iconic web-slinger. This film not only captures the essence of Spider-Man but also brings a delightful coming-of-age story to the superhero genre.

Tom Holland shines as Peter Parker infusing the character with a perfect blend of teenage awkwardness and heroic determination. Holland's portrayal feels authentic and relatable, making Peter's journey from high school student to neighborhood superhero a joy to watch.

The film wisely avoids rehashing Spider-Man's origin story, diving straight into the challenges of balancing teenage life with newfound superhero responsibilities. The high school setting adds a unique and charming layer to the narrative, with Peter navigating typical teenage woes alongside thwarting villainous schemes.

Michael Keaton's Vulture emerges as a standout antagonist, bringing a grounded and menacing presence to the film. The personal connection between Vulture and Spider-Man adds emotional depth to their dynamic, making the conflict more than just a battle between hero and villain.

This one masterfully blends superhero spectacle with humor, courtesy of Peter's witty banter and interactions with his AI-powered suit. The film's comedic tone doesn't diminish the stakes but instead enhances the overall viewing experience, creating a lighthearted and enjoyable atmosphere.

The supporting cast, including Zendaya as Michelle and Jacob Batalon as Ned, adds charm and diversity to Peter's world. The characters feel like real teenagers, grappling with relatable issues while contributing to the film's overall charisma.

The film's action sequences are a visual treat, showcasing Spider-Man's agility and acrobatics in ways that feel both innovative and true to the character's comic book roots. The incorporation of Spider-Man's homemade suit adds a touch of DIY authenticity, emphasizing Peter's resourcefulness.

In summary Spider-Man: Homecoming is a triumphant addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ant-Man and The Wasp is a pint-sized powerhouse that injects a refreshing dose of humor and creativity into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Peyton Reed, this film stands out as a delightful and entertaining entry, proving that big things come in small packages.

Paul Rudd reprises his role as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, bringing his signature charm and comedic flair to the character. The film's decision to focus on the familial dynamics adds a heartwarming layer to the narrative, making Scott's journey not just about superhero antics but also about being a father and a partner.

Evangeline Lilly shines as Hope van Dyne/The Wasp, showcasing her prowess as a formidable and kick-butt superhero. The dynamic between Ant-Man and The Wasp is a highlight, providing exhilarating action sequences that seamlessly blend size-changing antics with visually stunning choreography.

The film's humor is a standout feature, with Michael Peña's Luis stealing the show with his hilarious, fast-talking anecdotes. The comedic timing and chemistry among the cast members create a lighthearted atmosphere that sets this film apart within the MCU.

This one manages to balance its smaller, more personal stakes with the larger-than-life superhero elements. The quest for Janet van Dyne in the Quantum Realm adds a layer of intrigue and emotional depth, connecting the characters to a larger, cosmic narrative.

The visual effects are nothing short of impressive, especially when it comes to the creative use of size manipulation. From shrinking buildings to oversized Pez dispensers, the film takes full advantage of its unique premise, delivering visually engaging and imaginative sequences.

Overall enjoyable and worth the watch.

Very forgettable
9 December 2023
This one finds itself lost in the shadows, unable to spark. Directed by Alan Taylor, this Marvel installment struggles to distinguish itself, delivering a rather average superhero experience.

Chris Hemsworth continues to embody the God of Thunder, but the film doesn't provide substantial growth for the character. Thor's internal conflicts lack the depth seen in other MCU entries, making him feel somewhat stagnant in comparison.

The narrative attempts to explore the cosmic consequences of the Aether but falls short of creating a truly engaging storyline. The dark elves, led by Malekith played by Christopher Eccleston, serve as forgettable villains with minimal impact. The lack of a compelling antagonist diminishes the stakes and weakens the overall narrative drive.

While the film maintains the visual spectacle expected from Marvel, the realms of Asgard and the dark world of Svartalfheim lack the innovative flair seen in other cosmic MCU entries. The visuals, though competent, don't leave a lasting impression.

Natalie Portman's Jane Foster is given a central role, but the romantic subplot with Thor feels forced and doesn't resonate emotionally. The chemistry between the characters lacks the charm seen in other Marvel pairings, making it challenging to invest fully in their relationship.

The film does have its moments of humor, largely courtesy of Tom Hiddleston's Loki. Hiddleston's charismatic performance injects much-needed energy, providing some relief from the otherwise lackluster elements.

Overall it is entertaining enough to watch it once and forget about it so you can get on with the rest of the saga.

Amazing and hilarious, one of my faves of marvel no doubt
9 December 2023
Thor Ragnarok catapults the Marvel Cinematic Universe into a cosmic realm of humor and spectacle, delivering a riotous and extraordinary adventure that stands as a cinematic triumph. Directed by Taika Waititi, this film not only redefines the God of Thunder but also establishes itself as a game-changer within the superhero genre.

Chris Hemsworth's Thor undergoes a delightful transformation, shedding the solemnity of previous installments for a refreshing dose of humor and wit. Hemsworth's comedic timing is impeccable, proving that the God of Thunder can be both formidable and hilariously charming.

Taika Waititi's directorial style infuses the film with a vibrant energy, blending jaw-dropping visuals with a quirky sense of humor. The neon-soaked landscapes of Sakaar, paired with a synth-heavy soundtrack, create a visually and aurally stunning experience that is a feast for the senses.

This movie introduces the incredible pairing of Thor and the Hulk, played by Mark Ruffalo, in a gladiatorial contest that is not only a visual spectacle but also a comedic goldmine. The banter between the characters and the unexpected humor injected into every action sequence make this film a standout in the MCU.

The supporting cast, including Tessa Thompson as the formidable Valkyrie and Jeff Goldblum as the eccentric Grandmaster, elevates the film's comedic elements. Each character brings a unique flavor to the narrative, adding layers of humor and depth.

The film's villain, Hela, portrayed by Cate Blanchett, is a formidable force with a captivating presence. Blanchett's performance adds gravitas to the character, making Hela one of the more memorable antagonists in the MCU.

It not only embraces its comedic elements but also weaves a compelling storyline with real consequences for its characters. It strikes a perfect balance between humor and heart, proving that a superhero film can be both entertaining and emotionally resonant.

Overall, a rollercoaster that defies expectations, infusing the superhero genre with a refreshing dose of humor and visual flair. Taika Waititi's directorial vision, coupled with standout performances and a vibrant narrative, cements this film as a jewel in the Marvel crown - a hilarious and extraordinary adventure that leaves audiences craving more.

Thor (2011)

The worst of all Thor movies by far
8 December 2023
Thor lands squarely in the realm of average superhero fare. Directed by Kenneth Branagh, this Marvel film introduces the God of Thunder to the cinematic universe but falls short of reaching the heights achieved by its Marvel counterparts.

Chris Hemsworth's portrayal of Thor is charismatic, but the character's journey from arrogant prince to humbled hero feels somewhat formulaic. The fish-out-of-water trope, as Thor finds himself on Earth, adds moments of humor but doesn't bring much innovation to the superhero origin story.

The Asgardian visuals are visually striking, showcasing the grandeur of the mythical realm. However, the juxtaposition of Asgard and the more mundane Earth settings sometimes feels jarring and fails to establish a seamless narrative flow.

Natalie Portman's Jane Foster is a capable scientist, but the romantic subplot between her and Thor lacks depth and often feels forced. The chemistry between the leads doesn't quite elevate the love story to a memorable level, making it one of the film's weaker aspects.

The action sequences are serviceable, with Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, providing some visually engaging moments. Yet, they lack the innovative flair seen in later Marvel films. The film's antagonist, Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, stands out as a highlight, injecting complexity and intrigue into the narrative.

While this movie is a necessary piece in the Marvel puzzle, it doesn't quite reach the heights of excitement and storytelling innovation seen in subsequent MCU entries. It falls into a comfortable mediocrity, delivering a standard superhero origin story without venturing too far beyond established tropes. In the grand tapestry of Marvel films, Thor holds its place as a decent introduction to a character but doesn't leave a lasting impact.

Super enjoyable
8 December 2023
This one is a triumphant ode to heroism and a nostalgic journey into the heart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Joe Johnston, this film not only establishes the origins of one of Marvel's most iconic characters but also delivers a compelling narrative filled with patriotism, courage, and a dash of old-school charm.

Chris Evans embodies the spirit of Steve Rogers/Captain America flawlessly, bringing a genuine sincerity and earnestness to the character. The film's success lies in its ability to humanize the superhero, making Rogers relatable and endearing. Evans's performance captures the essence of the 'man out of time,' creating a Captain America who is not just a symbol of physical prowess but also a beacon of unwavering moral integrity.

The period setting, set against the backdrop of World War II, adds a unique flavor to the Marvel universe. The attention to detail in recreating the era is commendable, from the costumes to the set designs, immersing the audience in a bygone era.

The supporting cast, including Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, contributes significantly to the film's emotional depth. The chemistry between characters feels authentic, adding layers to the storyline beyond the action sequences.

The action sequences themselves are a spectacle, showcasing Captain America's enhanced abilities and strategic prowess. The film strikes a perfect balance between thrilling set pieces and quieter character moments, ensuring a satisfying viewing experience for both action enthusiasts and those seeking emotional resonance.

Alan Silvestri's score deserves special mention, as it effectively enhances the film's emotional beats and elevates the overall cinematic experience. The patriotic undertones of the music complement the character of Captain America without feeling overly jingoistic.

Overall with its compelling characters, genuine heroism, and a perfect blend of action and heart, it not only pays homage to the comic book origins but also sets the stage for Captain America's enduring legacy in the larger Marvel narrative. It's a film that stands the test of time, much like the hero it brings to life.

Vigilante (2023– )
6/10
Crimes should be punished by crimes. Because this is my calling. The calling that's perfect for me: to become a devil to kill other devils...
8 December 2023
I am obsessed with the premise of this series! What a powerful statement and what a sad reality that the law is so flawed that many times it protects criminals rather than victims.

And after watching Moving and The Worst of Evil I have to say I got a bit excited seeing the announcement of Vigilante. I expected too much and then the disappointment hit. There is nothing wrong with using the same old antihero revenge concept if you are bringing something new fresh and intriguing but this wasn't it AT ALL.

If you are like me and absolutely adore series like Daredevil, Dexter, The Punisher, Taxi Driver etc... this one will feel like a bunch of predictable clichés, at best.

Don't get me wrong, the series is well made, the action and fight choreography is excellent, pace is fast and engaging, plot is good and acting is top notch but every single scene and character felt like a cheap remake of something we have seen many times before.

Regarding the actors, two to mention:

Nam Joo Hyuk nailed his of the Vigilante in a more mature and emotional role before his enlistment, you can also notice how hard he has trained and transformed physically for this, amazing work.

And Yoo Ji Tae who I am used to watch in more candid roles like When My love Blooms or even Healer) and surprised me a lot with this rough and militant character.

Overall If you haven't watched many antihero revenge series you will absolutely love this one, if you have, skip this one, it will bore you to death.
