The Pledge (2001)
Haunting
This is one of those movies that was entirely underwhelming and I was just waiting for it to end. It felt drawn out and heavy handed. But I watched it three days ago and here I am still thinking about it. Overall I'd say it's worth a watch.
Stronger (2017)
Brutal and real
I was surprised to see this film was rated so lowly. Highly recommend
Ghosts of War (2020)
Decent change of pace
I kept getting this recommended on Netflix and I finally gave in and watched it and honestly...this is one time I was pleasantly surprised by a horror movie. I go into most horror movies with mediocre hopes but this delivered. The ending was GOOD and ambiguous. I hate being able to call the ending on movies and I really couldn't here. It ties it all in pretty well and leaves you wondering.
Overall it wasn't great but considering the usual movies in the genre, I think it's worth a watch. Definitely watchable and definitely unpredictable.
Son of the South (2020)
Makes me want to read the book
The pacing was odd and some of the edits were jarring, but the story was interesting, important, and sadly still relevant today. It is a piece of modern history that folks need to know about now.
Into the Dark: Treehouse (2019)
Utterly aimless
I don't even know what happened here. Or what was supposed to happen. Was this a movie? Or an hour and a half of bumbling around? Was there a purpose?
The Silencing (2020)
It was just okay
I thought the story was intriguing, but the pacing, lighting, and some of the acting was just...bad. Had a lot of potential but it wasn't fully realized.
In a Valley of Violence (2016)
Underrated
The writing wasn't super but it was entertaining and had a good balance of comedy and drama. Worth the watch.
Haunted (2018)
...sad
If any of this is true it's just sad. I'm two episodes in and it's just children experiencing trauma that never gets treated and they suffer from delusions. If you think this is about paranormal stuff, don't watch it, because it's not. Literally just exploiting trauma. If an inch of any of this is true the police and psychotherapists need to be involved. Just. Pathetic. No explanations for anything. I'm shocked that this is so terrible, but I guess not really. Thanks for wasting my time, Netflix.
