Wheeler (2017)
Trivia
This soap slop would offend any successful promoter of any music genre. And Kris Kristofferson's clowning in it suggests that it offended him. His performance in it is appropriate to it.
The Ottoman Lieutenant (2017)
Soap
Nothing in this bloody ignorant melodrama is reasonably credible. And what it mocks is literally life and death to many people! Who would be so crass?
The Only Living Boy in New York (2017)
Martyrs to martyrdom
This movie is about a bunch of fortunate people feeling sorry for themselves and treating their self-pity as though it were a social science. When the Pierce Brosnan character tells the Kate Beckinsdale character that he deserves her, he defines the theme of this tragically maudlin film, that such people get what they deserve. They beget more ways to feel sorry for themselves. HITRT
The Post (2017)
Having cake and eating it
The problem with this film is that it contradicts itself. While purporting to champion journalistic integrity, it suggests that Nixon's trying to hide what four other Presidents did makes him the main culprit, and it doesn't mention that Kennedy and Johnson escalated the advisory mission into a war. Kennedy increased our involvement in Vietnam from a thousand troops to fourteen thousand, and Johnson increased it to more than a half million, and Nixon diminished it to a few thousand. HITRT
Dunkirk (2017)
Brands of bigotry
This film portrays the horrors of war. And it closes with a soldier who has survived Dunkirk reading Churchill's saying in a newspaper that might shall restore the British Empire. That's like people in the Bible Belt saying "the south shall rise again," like Churchill and Truman compensating for the holocaust by pushing the United Nations to make Irgun, a Zionist organization both had designated terrorist, for murdering noncombatants, the government of Israel. It's like Truman murdering a hundred thousand Japanese civilians after their government had lost the war. It's the base of Dirtbag Drumpf's efforts to "make America great again."
Arrival (2016)
Self-deception and self-destruction
The two main themes of this film, that time is illusion and that communication is essential to peace, are fundamental to Buddhism. But, while Buddhism is popular in China, this film misrepresents Chinese communication, and also how members of the United States Army communicate with one another, and how our television reporters report news. The Chinese people, speaking Mandarin or Cantonese or any other dialect, didn't indicate pronunciation in writing until the Chinese government developed a system of transliteration into the Roman Alphabet in the twentieth century. But the film says that writing every human language indicates pronunciation, ignoring that every Chinese word is a one-syllable name for a picture, a picture that doesn't independently indicate pronunciation. And the film also blames China for the main failure to communicate it portrays and says, contrary to the last past decade of the history of Earth, that Russia is in cahoots with China. You can talk with a soldier and watch news on television to see other discrepancies in the film's communication. But most of us prefer the Greco/Roman and Judeo/Christian/Islamic ignorant bigotry of sports. HITRT
Silence (2016)
Pride and prejudice and pretension
I hate only lies. And the reason I'm not a Christian is that I've read the Bible carefully. It says that the Pharisee Saul of Tarsus took over the church after the crucifixion and converted followers of Jesus into Pharisees. The only Gospel saying Jesus called himself Christ is John's, and Matthew's and Mark's say that Jesus told John he didn't understand what Jesus tried to teach. The Pharisees were a Judaic sect that interpreted Judaic prophesies that a descendant of David's would resurrect the kingdom of Judah to mean that he would resurrect people. The origin of the word "christ" is a Greek word meaning anointed as one anoints kings while the origin of the word "messiah" is a Hebrew word meaning the same. Saul of Tarsus used the word "Christ" to preach the notion of a new king of the Jews beyond Jerusalem through Greece to Rome. And he used the example of Jesus' humility to propagandize people into bowing to the church he founded. And Jesuits have extended that hypocrisy all over earth. Buddhists believe that eternal life is simple truth. They believe all differences are illusion. HITRT
Spotlight (2015)
We the people
The only reason my rating of this film isn't the maximum ten stars is that it presents a Jewish guy as a white knight leading Christians in a crusade against themselves. The problem actually is two systems, one being the hypocrisy of the Roman Catholic Church hiding hedonism beneath its claim to celibacy, and the other being the hypocrisy of our mass media hiding other hypocrisy when revealing it doesn't sell advertising. Note that the anchors of CNN's show The Lead and MSNBC's show Meet the Press and Fox News' show Media Buzz are all Jewish, and that those are 100 percent of the top three television shows focusing on mass media, while noting that less than a quarter of a percent of humanity is Jewish. And, actually, Saul of Tarsus was a Pharisee who perverted Jesus' message and some of his disciples into fitting his pharisaical sect. And that's also part of the how mass media sell the masses the terrorist lie that ISIS is Islamic. HITRT
Last Knights (2015)
Mass maniacal martyrdom
This film, whatever its producers intended it to do, recruits for ISIS. It says that ending oppression can occur only by suicidal violence, that reasoning has no possibility of success and that trying it is weakness, and that following leaders who say that will make men heroes in the eyes of "the people" and especially in the eyes of the women the men save. Before accepting this film's premise, we should ask why nearly all the victims of ISIS are Islamic men and women and children and compare its message to the message of politicians who disagree with Obama's international policies, and we should note that the reason we call cinema and television and "social media" mass media is that they massively sell to the masses. Truth (2015)
Paranoid delusions of dramatic irony
The title of this film should be either FEA or, more expressively, Them. It depicts both military officers and television reporters as aggressively paranoid delusional. Jeb Bush, if the delusional main characters of this film are correct, shall be the next President of the United States. And, if Hillary Clinton is the next President of the United States, such people would say that the reason is the affiliation between George Herbert Walker Bush and William Jefferson Clinton, saying it's all part of the "vast right wing conspiracy," ignoring that the Clintons coined that phrase. Whether or not 1968 typewriters had superscript "th" keys, they didn't have the ability to space characters proportionally as either Word Perfect did or Word does, and that fact alone should destroy the credibility of this film's main characters. The most truthful factor in this randomly weird film, whether or not its producers intended it, is its dramatic irony. And casting pseudointellectual Sundance Redford in it adds to the irony. HITRT
Return to Sender (2015)
The healthcare profession
Consider your world. Vengeance is the theme of this perversion. And its producers marketed it in terms of popular psychology. Every character in this creepy film fictionalizes everything for the worse while thinking he or she is sensitive. Both the rape victim and the rapist are victims of themselves besides being victims of each other. One word for that, but not one the film's marketers apply to it, is "sadomasochism." They use the word "closure" and might use the phrase "obsessive compulsive." But neither will they use the phrase "creepily arrogant." And that phrase also applies to the film's producers. The question is how normal they are. HITRT
The Delta Force (1986)
Balaam and the Diamond District
This film is about as realistic as Yahoo Netanyahu's Spy vs. Spy bomb cartoon, and not only by depicting one of its "Delta Force" commando characters reading a book with the title Mad War, with a picture of Alfred E. Neuman on its cover. But what can we expect from a director whose name is Menaham Golan, Menachem Begin having been the Zionist terrorist who orchestrated the bombing of the King David Hotel killing 93 noncombatants before being Prime Minister of Israel, and the Golan Heights being Palestinian territory Israel occupies contrary to international law? We need to hope that United States Special Forces, who swear to support and defend the Constitution of the United States with its mandate for separation of church and state, are nonsectarian. HITRT
Free the Nipple (2013)
What have they done to my song?
Netflix, because of its proscription against "obscenity," rejected this review. Louis Armstrong, after learning to blow his horn among drug addicts and prostitutes, pointed out that what's wrong with our wonderful world is only what we're doing to it. "Nobody has to guess that baby can't be blessed, 'til she sees finally that she's like all the rest, with her fog, her amphetamines, and her pearls," sang Bob Dylan of some of what others of us blow into our wind. This movie points out that none of that, and none of the hypocrisy of the media or other musicians, produces the terror of war or other killing while "humanity" calls the most basic means of nurturing us humans obscene. Let's get real. HITRT
The Physician (2013)
Integrity
This film's fiction perverts both history and religion. It's full of verbal and pictorial anachronistic misrepresentations ranging from hair styles to theological idealism. In 1021, people in England spoke Angle, the language of the Germanic tribe that by then had dominated it for centuries making it Angleland, not cockney English. And Arabs developed medical science far further than had Romans, and Muslims developed it far further than did Jews, and Europeans materially accepted that. And Judaism is more materialistic than Islam, while Islam is more materialistic than Christianity, and more of the Qur'an is Christian than is Judaic. And the Black Death was in Europe and not in the Levant and not until three centuries after 1021. And Celts didn't call God Allah. HITRT
Johnny Suede (1991)
On forgetting Eisenstein
This film is two movies, its scenes including Catherine Keener, and its scenes excluding her. The link is the iguana, now a symbol of Eisenstein's dialectical idealism montage theory of cinematic art, indicating Keener's pseudo-intellectual influence on this cinematic production. Soviet Cinematographer Sergei Eisenstein responded to the Soviets' perverting Hegel's "phenomenology of mind" into what they called dialectical materialism by calling his Zen koan approach to cinema dialectical idealism. And, since then, emulating his use of discordant montage has been a right of passage for cinematographers and directors. But Keener's dialectic detracts from the iguana's. HITRT
