Civil War (2024)
What's so civil 'bout war anyway?
What we have here is failure to communicate.
The movie is not about a civil war, but about estranged, completely out of time photo reporters, learning how to suppress emotions and shot good pictures of terrible moments.
The movie is emotional and very well presented.... but why? It seems completely outdated in our time, where fpv action cameras are on every helmet and there is no place anymore for old film cameras and still pictures.
There are a few intense moments and the last battle of the assault at the white house is phenomenal. But, still lives you wondering what have you seen...
It gives 0 clue on what is going on, politically and socially, focusing just on a few characters. It does it right, but doesn't feel enough.
What's so civil 'bout war anyway?
Yesterday (2019)
Imagine there's no Beatles. It's easy if you try.
Imagine there's no Beatles, It's easy if you try.
....and that's because there is Danny Boyle! (and this one here it's not from the Beatles! :-P
Another great movie from this unbelievably talented director, you will love as much as you love the beatles songs. Well, and if you don't, it must be because you don't know them well. So, don't waste your time, run to youtube and listen to everything from the great 4, than come back here and watch the movie.
The movie is really fun to watch, with a handful of brilliant ideas and great jokes you would like to spoil your friends with! Don't worry, I won't.....
Go see this!
Tre uomini e una gamba (1997)
A rare comic gem that can stand the time!
Being an italian, often very critical of italian cinema, I must admit that it annoys me to recognize that this movie is absolutely awesome. Each scene, even taken individually, is unforgettable. Despite its simplicity, it is always very intelligent and fun, and perfectly characterizes the best and the worst of Italianness. Even if it has his years now, it's always incredibly current and hilarious. I could be considered a heretic, but I think it is one of the most successful films of its kind, certainly one of the best of the last 30 years, if not always.
Many Italians should see it again and again, maybe they will learn something eventually...
Overlord (2018)
Wolfenstein live action movie!
Not scary enough, but a good solid flick, directly from the cut scenes of one of the best games of the genre! Lots of practical effects, good cgi and enjoyable characters. A bit slow in the middle but fast and fun in the end. Don't believe the bad reviews, it's very well done for this kind of movie, just don't expect anything else....
Top Gear (2017)
The worst car show ever.
Awfully scripted, terrible hosts (William what are you doing there!?) and stupid stories. Not that History Channel Top Gear USA was great, but actually so much better than this. They had at least one great guy (Tanner Foust) and ruined the program anyway. Here they did worst: can't really understand what the target audience was...
Dunkirk (2017)
This time Nolan disappoint. Badly.
First 10 minutes are great. Just what you expected. You almost crouch and hide to avoid the bullets, your heart races and that sound terrifies you. You are at Dunkirk: lost, hungry, desperate. And stukas are above you.
Than just repeat that over and over again, in the boat, on the sea, in the plane....and every time is less and less involving.
Nolan is still Nolan: great shots, superb sound mixing, and he plays with the mighty water like no other (very much like in interstellar "waves" planet) but there is no real involvement.
And it lacks sense of scale and dimensions, credibility (expecially for the spitfire gliding sequence), and the worst: time. And we are talking about the master of time, here!
Sorry Christopher, this time is a no go! :-(
