Awesome movie
28 December 2023
I don't know how I missed this movie all these years, being an avid science fiction fan, but I am glad I found it now.

A great alternate reality science fiction film. Not without its plot holes, but fascinating, well paced, with great acting. Somewhat reminiscent of Frequency, but a unique story.

I couldn't get enough of it -- the movie felt like it went by so quickly -- but this is a sign of a great movie. I strongly recommend it to science fiction fans.

I wish they went a little farther in the ending, but it was still very satisfying. I will definitely watch it again in the future with my family.

How to tell a good story in the worst possible way
21 November 2023
The story, or the idea, of the show is good. The acting is good. But that's where the "goodness" ends.

I am not sure who the target audience is for this show. The description of the show would've attracted the fantasy and sci-fi fans, but the show does next to nothing to quench the fantasy or the sci-fi hunger.

It looks more like a dark drama, but it's not good enough for the fans of that genre, either. An extremely slow development. A lot of stort arcs were started that never had any type of conclusion or even full development. They had no meaning and no relevance for the main story.

All in all, mostly waste of time.

Poor man's Longmire
5 November 2023
The show is okay. I am not sure if the storyline and arcs are too weak, or the show creators and editors did a poor job putting it together.

I wanted to quit watching it almost right away. The only reason I stuck to watching it was to see how it resolves. This actually set me more against this show - it felt like I was being held hostage to it.

The potential was there, but the creators did not know what they wanted the show to be. What is it? A supernatural mystic crime drama? Or, a crime drama with some delusional people? Or, a political show for people to air out their grievances for past injustices? A mess.

Great, but still has ways to go to reach the original's glory
17 September 2023
Definitely loves seeing the marshal back on the screen. Timothy Olyphant is a great actor who is perfect for this role. But the new show is missing the aspect of the rural Kentucky culture, and there was nothing as interesting that replaced it.

The original Justified deserves a 10, in my opinion, but this one is not quite there yet. If they makes the second season with Boyd Crowder coming back, there's a good chance the show will reach the new heights.

Over all, I expect major new developments in the upcoming season. There is a lot of room to grow and develop the show. Looking forward to seeing it.

That's why I don't trust the rating system
7 September 2023
Thus is a good show. That's not in question. Good story, good actors. A perfectly fine TV show.

The question is: is it an 8.7 stars show? Almost as highly rated as The Game Of Thrones or many other exceptional TV shows? Definitely, no. I see people giving it a 10 left and right. Very few shows in existence deserve a 10. And this is not one of them.

I love Korean TV shows and see almost every new show that comes out on Netflix, and this one isn't even in the top 10 of the Korean shows I've seen. It's definitely not original, as there are now many TV shows out there with an autistic character in the lead.

Ignore the negative reviews. Great show
22 May 2023
It baffles me why anyone would give this show less than a 7. The Sci-Fi genre has the most toxic fans in existence.

First off, this a is great show in the tradition of many other awesome SyFy channel shows. Is it perfect? No... Deserves an 8, but I'm giving a 10 to offset at least one bad rating.

The plot is new and unique. The story is progressing very well, unlike many other shows that seem to get high ratings but you can literally fall asleep to.

The show is very engaging with good acting and plausible plot lines. Watch it and enjoy. Ignore all the negativity and don't let it change your perception of the show.

Entertaining? Yes. Outstanding? No
25 April 2023
Another OK show that's getting undeserved glowing reviews. Very-very few shows in existence deserve the 10-star rating. And yet, somehow we get all these raving reviews for a bunch of mediocre shows -- usually for political reasons or to offset someone else's disingenuous 1-star reviews.

I wish people were just honest. This show has a compelling story and good acting. Definitely, not a failure. But the self-righteousness of the writers reflected in the protagonist of the story is off-putting.

The outlandish ideas and storylines should put that show in the science fiction category. And the never-ending leftward ideology (though not as thick as in most shows) doesn't do this particular show any favors either.

Decades of waiting for THIS?
18 March 2023
I saw the part 1 in the late 1980s as a teenager. I absolutely loved it! For me, this was the first time to see this genre of comedy.

When at the end of the movie they showed what I thought were previews of part 2, I was excited and couldn't wait for it to come out... But it never happened. But I didn't give up hope because the talks about part 2 never died out.

When I heard that part 2 was going to be a TV show, I got excited. I thought- that's even better - a longer version.

But instead, I got a low quality, low budget looking, poorly acted out and excessively, unnecessarily crude trash of a show. Worse than the worst of SNL. Total disappointment.

Best of Star Trek and Stargate
12 March 2023
This is an amazing and beautiful show. There are clear influences of Star Trek and Stargate SG1 in this show. This Science fiction is so pure!

In fact, this show stays more true to the Start Teek Canon than Star Trek Discovery.

The story arks are unique and interesting. The acting is great, and the casting choices are perfect. My whole family enjoyed it.

It's too bad that it had taken them so long to complete season 3, and now season 4 may not happen -- because people move on.

I hope the fans and the creatora manage to push it forward to keep making new seasons. There are so few pure Science Fiction shows now.

I think Disney is ruining shows on purpose
15 December 2022
I was really looking forward to this show. I've always thought that the National Treasure movies were undervalued. I simply love them.

They instill love for this country and sprinkle a little mystery onto its history. This show does the opposite. The history of this country is short, but it's very rich. It's flawed, but the good far outweighs the bad.

None of us want to be lectured by the things we use for entertainment. We get enough of that from the TV news and Facebook posts. We just want to enjoy a mystery and adventure show that this was supposed to be.

Total disappointment. There isn't much good happening on Disney plus lately.

Welp... unfulfilled potential
11 December 2022
The concept for each story / episode is great, but each story should have been a mini-series or a full blown series.

The show makers leave a lot of guess work for the viewers, which could be fine for some movies or shows, but it doesn't quite work for this one.

The endings are also incomplete and unsatisfying. Feels like each episode ends with a cliffhanger. A bit of a bait and switch with the previews of the show.

I don't know if this show will go any further (more seasons or some sort of follow-ups on the original episodes), but they need rework how the complete each arc. Very disappointing - could have been great.

It's good, but not even close to 10
23 November 2022
Sometimes the loyalty of star wars fans blinds them to objective reality. I see numerous 10s and 9s for this show to the point that it's rated almost as high as the Mandalorian.

Let's be honest -- the show is good, but it's not anywhere near as good as the Mandalorian, or Kenobi, Or Boba Fett. Many unique aspects of the canon are completely absent to the point that Andor can be a show totally unrelated to Star Wars.

The pace is a bit slow, and the behavior of the characters is a bit uneven and inconsistent. I hope it gets better, but for now it's a weak 7.

I love everything Star Wars -- even the films that were not generally appreciated, but I try to remain objective.

Too much unnecessary drama, not enough science fiction
26 September 2022
Started out great, but as it went on, the teenage level chit-chat and teenage level drama became unbearable.

I actually had to fast-forward through large portions of the show simply because I wanted to know how it ends.

The idea behind the show was great, but poorly executed. I hope the new season, if they ever make it, is going to focus more on the science fiction. Because those who love drama are usually not interested in science fiction.

Reminds me of another show that made this mistake -- Stargate Universe. And even though the 2nd season of that show became amazingly good, it was too late, and the show was canceled. When are they going to learn?

Dexter: New Blood (2021–2022)

I officially declare: This season is NOT canon
25 September 2022
I was SO looking forward to this because I was completely disappointed with the original series finale.

And the start wasn't bad. Maybe 7/10 compared to the original series. Tolerable, but not a failure. As it went on, it became clear that this season was a watered down Dexter.

His attitudes, behavior and demeanor had too much sensibility and not enough compulsion. He was a shadow of his old self, which shouldn't happen to a psychopathic personality.

Bringing Debra was a genius move that they completely underused and misused.

Then, of course, the season finale was the last straw -- it wasn't a disappointment, it was the ruination... a complete dismantling of the character and the show. Dexter's behavior because not only inconsistent with his actions and character in the original show, it was incompatible with it.

Therefore, this season is not canon. I will go loving the original, and pretend this season doesn't exist... at least, not in the original universe. And Dexter is out there somewhere meting out justice and being its sword wherever the system fails victims and perpetrators go unpunished.

His motive may not be to punish, only to kill, but guided by a transplanted "conscience" in a form of memories and "ghosts", he is fulfilling a satisfying purpose.

Amazing, unique, and satisfying
24 September 2022
This is the 1st Japanese show I've ever seen, and now I'm a fan. Beautifully written and produced, the show made me get immersed in it after the first few minutes.

When I decided to check it out, I fully expected to drop it after the first episode, because the preview was not convincing, and I had my eye on another show. Sort of just wanted to get it out of the way.

Instead, I couldn't stop watching it and ended up staying up past midnight. My only concern was a possible bad finale, as I'm used to sci-fi shows disappointing endings. But it wasn't the case here!

It also made me want to read up on the Japanese culture and language, which I did extensively.

Now about to start the animated series m.

History, science, fiction, drama -- a top show
13 September 2022
This show hits all the indicators of a great TV show. It's terribly underestimated, and it was a gem I stumbled on by accident.

Alternate timeline type show is my favorite subgenre of sci-fi, and this show is a jackpot. Great storylines with great acting. Fiction mixed with real history. Just enough drama to make it interesting without getting sidetracked from the sci-fi aspect of it.

Hope they keep making it. There's so much potential to keep going into the future... Mars, then the outer planets, and then to another solar system...

This show stimulates the mind while staying entertaining, and I wish I could give it a higher than 10 rating.

Meh
12 September 2022
Was really looking forward to the show and when I finally started watching it, loved the 1st episode! But then, the rest of the show came.

Despite the makers of the show doing their best to make it as convoluted as possible, I muddled through and understood the plot.

My biggest problem, however, is that the "good guys" on the show were made to be almost as unlikable as the bad guys.

Sad... because the actors were great. Although, some showed up for 1 scene, and there was clearly some back story there, but the authors decided not to expound on that for some reason.

If anything, the show was more annoying than satisfying.

Let's be honest
11 September 2022
Let's be honest. This is not a 1/10 or a 10/10 show. It's good enough not to have failed and fallen below 5, but it's not good enough to make you want to re-watch it over and over.

The writing and the dialog is probably below 5, but it makes up slightly with the overall arc and the effects. The racial makeup is not an issue in a fictional world. The faithfulness to the Source material and the vision of the author is an issue.

If they wanted to stray this far from the source, they should have just written their own new story and made a show. There are plenty of creative people out there who write great stuff.

It's disingenuous to say the show is soooo great or a total failure. It's just the middle-of-the-road show, which makes it a disappointment due to high expectations.

Warning: Spoilers
The whole show is more of political party talking points list than an entertainment show. The whole cast is a bunch of rich people living in mantions and complaining about other - richer people.

They can't identify with our problems, we can't identify with theirs, but it doesn't keep them from complaining about patriarchy and colonialism and capitalism, while they're reaping the benefits of all that for themselves with no qualms - living high lives.

While sitting on their high horses, they also manage to cheat on their relationships, lie incessantly and compromise most basic of their own values.

Vile people pretending to be good.

It's disingenuous to give the show a 10 or a 1
6 September 2022
It seems that the show started getting reviews by a bunch of ideologues than the genre fans. One aspect of the show frustrates them, so they give it a 1, despite some clear artistic and creative achievements. Others try either to offset it or base their rating on some ideological merit.

The show is clearly not a failure deserving a 1, and it clearly falls short of expectations that would have given it a 10. It's spectacular and engaging, but it strays pretty far from what I believe would be the author's vision.

So, trying to maintain objectivity, I would give it a 6. But I reserve the right to change this rating after watching the season finale.

Poor man's Snowfall
3 September 2022
I gave the show a good chance. Here are the problems: 1. Acting is subpar.

2. Storyline is too simplistic.

3. The accent and the slang are very hard to understand (and I watch a lot of British shows).

I couldn't get into it and was surprised the show has 8.4 rating. I usually love British shows. In fact, this is the first British show I've watched that I didn't like. But clearly, a lot of people love it.

Even though my review is finished, it wants me to write 600 characters. So disregard everything in this paragraph. I'll just keep writing until I reach 600 characters. I hope this is enough.

Warning: Spoilers
I would have enjoyed the show completely if it's protagonist didn't incessantly bring up every leftist talking point in existence... for no reason at all -- when it didn't even fit the storyline (out of place) and not only failed to advance the story, but actually inhibited it. Very frustrating and annoying.

It started out pretty slow and without the expected oomph. I almost gave up on it. But by the end of episode 2, I was intrigued. And each consequent episode got even better. It was especially great to see a few old characters. Hopefully they continue making it.

Excellent show with a Stranger Things vibe
7 August 2022
Definitely a great show with a unique storyline, great acting and it leaves you wanting for more. It definitely has a Stranger Things vibe, although it would have been better (and this is the reason it gets 9 instead of 10) if there wasn't so much incessant swearing. Stranger Things is successful, and they managed it a TV-14 rating. So, if you're a talented storyteller, you can tell a story without turning it into a Big Lubowski scene.
