D-War (2007)
It's like Snakes on a plane with Dragons!
If you're expecting a well developed movie with full characters and a coherent plot line than this is not a movie you should see. However, if you're expecting an over-the-top B-movie/Sci-fi flick, then you will love Dragon Wars. The plot makes no sense, the characters are cast horribly, the dragons are given ridiculous names, and the action scenes are about twenty minutes longer than necessary. This movie may become the next Ishtar, I'm calling it now. It's worth your money to see this monstrosity if you expect it to be just that, if you go in expecting a good movie, for the love of god save your money!
I've had it with these motherf*ckin dragons, in these motherf*ckin wars!
Wolf Creek (2005)
Did not live up to the hype
This is just another example of a trailer making a movie better then it seems. The movie, in general, is more like some teenage comedy rather then a work of horror. I heard infinitely more laughs in the theater then I would have expected. All in all, the movie is just empty. It starts out with a disclaimer stating that the movie is based on actual events and IF this was followed up sooner with some aspects of horror that fact might have cemented, but it then goes on to an HOUR straight of pure build up and character development. The saddest part of it all it the actual horror scenes last about twenty minutes, and unlike most slasher/horror flicks, there is no resolve, real struggle with the killer, or a climax of any sort. There are parts that are somewhat entertaining along with what I must say is a classic line "we're going to do something called 'head on a stick', but they make up about one eighth of the film. The film depends on the audience to remember that the film is based on actual events to solidify anything scary but it just doesn't achieve this. In all honesty, your ten bucks would be better spent going to a video store and buying "Seven" or "Evil Dead."
Stella (2005)
Funny, clever, and just a tad bit stupid. (In a good way)
I had seen Stella do stand-up on several occasions and found what they did on stage hilarious but somewhat limited. Not anymore. Stella with their new show is everything you could hope to see if you were a fan before the series. They take out a lot of the homosexual stuff they use in their act and replace it with a ton of outlandish humor. From spoofing "JFK" to making jokes about the great Irish potato famine, Stella is a fun half an hour of television. Michael, Michael, and David have been doing stand-up together for years and when stand up comedians trying doing shows (The Drew Carey Show, The George Lopez show, The Job, Action, etc.) they either end up terrible, slightly humorous, or are canceled before you get a chance to see them. Not with Stella, then again, there's still time for it to get canceled...
