Nuovo Cinema Paradiso (1988)
Slowpaced, relying on atmosphere.
Shortly as always; Acting isn't too good.. sounds that people produce seem artificial. This is a film about a boy growing up in the vicinity of a movie theater. On the background there is a war ongoing but the episodes of the film don't make much connection to it. Story is a bit boring at least from a Finnish point of view.. Only one or two episodes made me smile a bit but the humor isn't too intelligent. Maybe this film is good for some people that can imagine beyond what is shown. For me; characters didn't matter much. Music is more happy than melancholic and I could probably compose something more touching.. :D. Maybe this was a good movie 20 years ago but today you can see much better films with more atmosphere and with a better script.

Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
At 1960; Great. At 2007; OK.
This wasn't a bad movie. Though I like faster action and dialog I could watch it to the end. Scenes were from time to time boring and this film wouldn't get as good review if it was published today. Music was nice and once I had to stop watching movie to get inspiration to guitar-riffs ;). Acting was OK with these lines the actors we're given. I could get only some messy ideas of the actors feelings. Battles were cool with all those camels and horses running around.. lot's of money gone to shooting fer sure.
Scenery was really nice, whirlwinds and that fusion ball rising at the edge of desert.. Most people probably gave the rating 10 stars out of nostalgia. In the 60's there was probably not many better movies than this. Movie created some interest to know about the history aspects of Middle-East in early of 2000 century. Have Arabs really being so scattered? I have no idea of what really has been.
Probably in right mood and bigger screen this could be better. If you are under 35 year old and don't like slower kind of films this could be waste of your time. For me, I think I'll watch mostly newer films from now on.. there's plenty of unseen yet.
Capote (2005)
What intelligent remarks have i missed ?
I really found this movie just boring.. One good actor won't save a poor script in my opinion. I might find this more fascinating if I had read the book "In cold blood" itself. And knowing the story that way wouldn't maybe either require watching this SLOW movie with no real turning-points. Murder of 4 people is just nothing comparing to what happened in Rwanda over 10 years ago for example (just keep shooting your citizens, folk in USA) so I didn't feel for them. Neither does Capote receive any sympathy even though character is well act. Or should he be despised? And the murderers.. just hang them if they are likely to commit same crime again or let them walk if you think they won't. There are a lot better movies that rise emotions, which was the point of this film i think? Why does he talk that way, btw? Did Capote really, couldn't he otherwise? Not very charming style. Oh well.. a lot of people have liked this film so it's probable you will like too. Enjoy or join the minor group of wondering ones.
