Bonanza: Queen High (1968)
this must be the beefcake episode
Showing off the physiques of Joe Cartwright and the ranch hand Candy as they are sawing wood on their mine. I didn't realize they had to stay in such shape for their roles. I guess Hoss Cartwright was too fat to get involved much in this episode regardless that he could whip both Candy and his little brother Joe together in a fight. The women in these old shows are always looking for a husband too. In the previous episode, Candy had been pursued by an italian woman who finally decided she wanted to wait for an italian man to come into her life. Candy exhaled in relief when he heard her say that.
Bonanza: A Pink Cloud Comes from Old Cathay (1964)
only watched some of the episode. The chinese girl aggravated me
Then I came to the user reviews and got more aggravated. To those protesting the disguise of Marlo Thomas as a Chinese female, you are merely exposing your own lack of knowledge of television in those days. Marlo Thomas was likely chosen for role of a strong woman because in those days, Bruce Lee was refused the job the lead character for "Kung Fu". People in charge didn't think a Chinese main character would be accepted by the public. Hence the choice for the main character here to be Marlo Thomas. David carradine knew nothing about martial arts when he got the gig for "Kung Fu". It's too easy and simply lazy to simply pull the racist card out and wave it to readers while judging folks from the past.
Deconstructing Harry (1997)
I stopped going to watch Woody Allen films after seeing this film
I don't remember laughing while watching it. I traveled 20 miles to watch it because it was the only theater showing the film. Gratuitous sex scene with Julia dreyfus was a turn off. I loved so many of Allen's other films. This one cost him $20M and made only $10M. I didn't recommend anyone I knew see it. There weren't too many people in the theater at the time, so I should have known it was bad. Just like when I went to see a Jim Carrey film years later about the guy who lived his life being viewed by people on tv. There was nobody in the theater watching that film either. Both movies were lousy.
The A-Team: Judgement Day: Part 2 (1985)
just watch to see the babes
That are all over the carnival cruise boat. Great ad for the cruise industry. Lots of skin and not too much bikini. Of course Face is getting himself in all sorts of trouble with women on the ship.
Kolchak: The Night Stalker: Bad Medicine (1974)
kolchak : Bad Medicine
I thought it was interesting, yet far fetched. The actorthat played the old Indian explaining the concept of Diablero to Kolchak was very convincing. Same actor played the father on the "Miracle Worker" 1960s. This episode was on METV 5/15/22.
Things to Come (1936)
HG wells didn't have much control over this film
I was amazed how prescient he was about WWII coming and London being attacked. I was looking forward to seeing the acting of. Raymond Massey too, but I started getting bored when the war was supposed to be endless.
I am wondering if the actual book is better than the movie.
Dillinger (1973)
entertaining film, but I don't know how accurate
It is.
One thing I didn't like was picking Richard Dreyfuss to play Pretty Boy Floyd. Dreyfuss seems like such a liberal pansy. Someone like a young christopher Walken could have been good playing that sicko.
I didn't like how they depicted women in the film. Michelle Pfeiffer played a woman who gets beated by Dillinger , yet later in the film is in love with him. Another women in the film is merely carrying groceries across the street and gets run over. Of course the gangsters that get shot live long enough to stay something like "damn this isn't my day."
Dywizjon 303 (2018)
couldn't maintain interest in the plot
Lost interest when for some reason they introduced the love interest , a former actress, and asked her to force herself on a top pilot. I guess the real war was too boring for the person writing the script.
Leave It to Beaver: Most Interesting Character (1959)
I laughed at the show as a child, now it makes me tear up
They wrote the entire show around the last few minutes of the episode. Last few minutes with Ward reading a composition about him will probably bring tears to the viewer's eyes.
The Waltons: The Wing-Walker (1975)
wingwalker lady looked too glamorous
She looked like she stepped out of a ladies magazine from the 1970s. Can't a lady wingwalker not look glamorous? They got her walking around in pants so that the guys can get a good look at her behind. Amelia Earheart was attractive , but she didn't look like a model.
Green Acres: The Hole in the Porch (1971)
does this show have a laugh track?
If it does, I missed it because I was too busy laughing. No disclosures here. Just watch the deadpan deliver of Fred Ziffel . He must have screwed that up once or twice before he said it at his best. Then watch Mr Kimball and his nurse ralph, with her pills - lol.
Leave It to Beaver: Music Lesson (1958)
watching because I like the show
, but lately it brings a tear to my eye. Especially the episodes where beaver reaches up to his father to bring him down close and kisses his cheek at the end of the episode. ; (
Leave It to Beaver: The Bank Account (1958)
I wasn't expecting to shed a tear at the end
I didn't think the episode was hokey or sappy at all. I like the look of amazement of Hugh Beaumont's face when he is expecting a baseball mitt in the package at the end.
The Addams Family (1964)
hate the laugh track on Addams family
Most of the time the stuff said that is accompanied by the laugh track wasn't funny then or now. However, I love watching Morticia dance occasionally and it seems the director finally realized Lurch should have some of the best lines on the show. I still laugh when Lurch is learning to dance. Get a kick out of Gomez appearing from nowhere to kiss Morticia's arm as soon as she says something in the French language. Thing does some funny stuff too like when thing has a wand in his hand and is directing Lurch on the piano : )
To Hell and Back (1955)
not embellished - it's factual
Read a little about Audie Murphy. The poor guy's wife divorced him because he was having awful nightmares that he was back in the military that caused him to wake up screaming, upsetting his wife at night.
Green Acres: A Husband for Eleanor (1968)
lisa gets annoying even to the farmer with the bull
This episode was based on the premise that Lisa thought of Eleanor as her daughter and wanted to her daughter to marry well. Stupid premise. They had plenty of funny episodes with Lisa, like when she throws the dishes out instead of washing them and when she shows the roadside diner how to make pancakes which also can be used as head gaskets. This episode wasn't funny.
Green Acres: Kimball Gets Fired (1967)
this episode still makes me laugh
Even though I know what's coming. That part where Ralph cozies up to the county agent on the couch is nearly as funny as the episode when Haney sells the outboard motor attached to a 55 gallon drum and says it's a washing machine.
The Miracle Worker (1962)
Once you have seen this film, you don't forget it
Perhaps one of the best films I have seen because it remains unforgettable to me. The ending will bring you to tears.
The Addams Family: Happy Birthday, Grandma Frump (1966)
Wicked witch of the west continues stealing scenes
I don't know how she does it , but whenever Margaret Hamilton is in front of the camera, she steals the scene. Must be 100 years of acting experience with her and Uncle Fester together. She walks to the mirror and admires her beauty sarcastically : )
Stan & Ollie (2018)
thought I was watching Stan and Ollie
The ending was a disappointment though. Just before the end, ollie was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and a possible heart attack. At the end of the film , ollie and stan are dancing on a stage. That's more than a congestive heart failure patient can do without exhaustion. My father has it too and can't do much.
Wagon Train: Little Girl Lost (1964)
episode was on metv 3/23/21 - well done
Excellent writing complimented by excellent acting. Might bring tears to your eyes. I like how they mentioned the cold air when the young girl appeared. quite a few of us might know the feeling if we are old enough.
The Night of the Hunter (1955)
If you've seen Fritz Lang's "M" of the 1930s, you'll like this film
Peter Lorre in "M" had those eyes that bug out. Just looking at him makes you think you want to walk on the other side of the street to avoid him. The character played by Robert Mitchum gives you no insight into his character by merely looking at him. His behavior is gradually revealed throughout the film and it's quite alarming. Unfortunately, when he comes to town, very few people recognize Mitchum's character has major issues between his ears. fortunately, unlike Lorre's character, the behavior isn't related to sexual urges. Very interesting film.
Brideless Groom (1947)
Emil Sitka has "Hold hands, you lovebirds" on his grave stone
That alone is likely enough to tell us this episode was among the best of the Stooges. He must have been reminded of that by many Stooge fans.
Sands of Iwo Jima (1949)
I love the scene at the end.
.the ending was very touching.
Scene where Stryker goes to the home of the woman also tells us more about the character than mere words.
Interesting to see how the relationship of Conway and Stryker changes over time too.
At the risk of appearing to be a left winger, I don't understand why the director had no black soldiers even as extras or perhaps I diidn't notice them. There were black Marines.
Abbott and Costello Go to Mars (1953)
be sure to watch the Venusian balloon routine and the truth detector
LOL - rest is sort of dated, but plenty of cute women to look at.
