and kept waiting....
5 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
the title sounded funny. Actors: Julianne Moore, Jeff bridges. OK, at first glance it looked promising. I really thought that I was going to have such a great time watching a comedy movie with great actors.

This movie has the great rating, the prominent actors that I much enjoy watch in many of their great performances... It seemed that it automatically was going to be a great comedy. so, I sat there waiting and waiting for the next great scene that never came up:-( I just felt that I wanted to laugh, but could not... needless to say, I did not get this movie...

all the topics were funny but did not click together: the rug? The same name? The unusual nickname? The kidnapping of the girl? I mean... Jeff bridges and Julianne Moore can do way much better. I would not have waisted my time...

Disappointing
21 December 2007
I was very disappointed of the drama of the movie. It seems that the message desire to be delivered was focused on the chaos of an inevitable end of humanity. Although inhabitants of all over the globe were devastated about the impossibility of having newborns, they kept killing each other and not just in the form of vandalism. These two points of the movie are completely contradictory and they just did not make sense. Acting was good overall. I love Clive, but the movie just did not follow any logical events connection.

Another disappointment was the dead of Moore's character. Frankly, I wanted to watch the movie because I knew she was on it. Five minutes after it started, Julian dies. I think Moore's presence could have given more charisma to the drama.

The end is awfully predictable, so that counts for one more disappointment.

Great Story to keep Alive
8 July 2007
Considering that King Kong is an old story that has been around for decades now, this movie definitely brings back the magic. I first watched the old version when I was a child, and I am glad that I had the opportunity to watch an astonishing new version of it. As I recall, the original film is black and white (Not sure about it). This version has so much wonderful effects and actors. Jack Black is perfect in his role, I loved him! Naomi Watts is just wonderful. She has the beauty needed for this role and the natural blonde image perfect for King Kong favorite lady. The creative way the director keeps the film back in the 1930' is a great job. This aspect from the film definitely gives an extra credits in my opinion. I appreciate the effort when filmmakers bring back these past ages. I am sure it requires great effort and dedication about building designs, cast, fashion, struggles according to the time referred in the film. King Kong is not just excellent, it is a perfect movie, and I would watch it over and over.

Babel (I) (2006)
Definitely Outrageous!!!
8 July 2007
Nice film. I bought the DVD because I heard all the good comments about it, and I agree with all these good reviews. The style is typical from the director gathering good message, good drama, excellent actors. Pitt's character was awesome. A husband that apparently had issues with his wife Susan was trying to make the relationship work out during vacation. Sadly, Susan got shot from a Morrocan boy, while their children were kept with Amelia (housekeeper). Everything was going wrong everywhere. I like the creative way to define the different endings of the characters... Not everybody was happy at the end, or at least in the way they would have desired to be. This director sure has the ability to build big puzzles and transform them into a great picture. It was very creative from the director choosing Morrocco as one of the important places to develop the film. I definitely thought that Japan was out of place; however, it works just perfect. I did not get completely why so much attention to this Japanese girl, when her Dad was the main connection to the incident in Morocco. I would have liked to know more about this character that the typical trouble maker teenager daughter. Mexico was a must have to add this unique sense to the movie, yet disturbing in the scene when the children are abandoned in the desert. A good message during this scene was emitted, because many people do know about border situations and many does not know what are the rules when it comes to leave and entry countries. The theme of the film is well communicated when it comes to human being feelings, conflicts, and the success to sad situations...Typical in films from this director.

Excellent movie!
8 July 2007
A little sad for those little people, yet with good parental guidance they will not misunderstand some of the scenes. Good acting overall, including the children. Awesome effects, I love that they involve a lot of animals, the Lion, especially. Very attractive scenarios, such as snow, beautiful green fields, wonderful building, rivers, and sunset. It definitely is helpful for children imagination development. The movie encloses great messages including fairness, love, care about others, faith, happiness, sadness, adventure.... This movie has it all. A must have DVD if you have little ones. Tilda Swinton is awesome in the film. The director not just managed the development, but participate on it. I think that was very nice, and helpful for these little actors. Thumbs up!

The Break-Up (2006)
5/10
Good Drama... Could have been more interesting, though.
8 July 2007
The story is interesting. I was expecting an interesting action plan taken by any of the couple. I do not think that The humor just does the humor added do not go along with the body of the story. I am sure many female spectator would have love this movie if the purpose of Aniston point was developed throughout the story. She tried to change the sick relationship and recover in a not very wise way the magic between she and her boyfriend causing pain to herself and confusion to him. In the other hand, he just stayed without speak out what he felt after the breakup. They just loved to be in a struggling relationship, and never moved forward. The end was confusing, not quiet determined as happy or sad ending. According with the drama, I think there were many more options for the end. For instance, I would have loved to see if these two characters learned the lesson as an end. I wonder if any of the lessons as a couple taught them something that helped them become better persons... The message I sensed was about what happen when people divorce or breakup and have a common place to live. It could have been more constructive and very entertaining movie if the focus was on the relationship and a magical way to save it or a wise way to end it.

Good with pop corn...
5 July 2007
As soon as I knew that Pierce Brosnan was in the movie, I knew it was going to have action, he is just perfect for this kind of movie. Definitely has his signature. Halle fits good in other movies like X-Man, but she looks weird in this one... Too sweet, and not that natural when it was about being mean and hold a gun. I would have choose somebody with stronger presence for that role. I really like the little role assigned to Madonna. She did little but did it right. Of course her song fits good, it sounds perfect for the movie. I gave a good score to the movie because it really is entertaining, it is got good humor and action. Nice scenarios, the ice scenes really made me feel cold in the middle of summer. That was neat!!!

Is got Something...
24 June 2007
I saw all the good comments about this movie, but never watched. I had to watch it for a especial project at school. I was not expecting anything outstanding, it is not as bad as I thought. In my opinion, movies are meant to deliver a drama, a lesson, a message. Musicals most of the times are just about that (Music) naturally. I was not surprise of Eddy Murphy performance, He has been a good actor all this time. Ms Hudson was brilliant as well. Basically, this movie talks about the struggles musicians have to deal during emerging and trying to be successful and make money.

It's just that is too much music... seem to be a long movie, and after too much music it gets kind of boring... overall - Not that bad...

Very meaningful!
22 June 2007
I decided to watch this movie because I read the introduction, and one reason was because Charlize Theron was playing on it. I love movies based on true stories, because they have to have more than just the principal idea. This is about partnership, ethic and friendship. How many women before this class-auction took place hesitated to claim their rights as equal workers? There was this brave lady that loving her family prove herself, and Charlize Theron was perfect to show the strength needed for this character that had to deal with her children confusions, feed them, and keep a place for them to live. What a lesson! On top of that, struggling with her Dad, blinded for the Macho ideal disapproving her believes in justice and equality. It was a happy end, she kept her family together and recovered the respect she always deserved and her friends. But more important, she made history.

Very nice Movie
13 March 2007
Awesome! I was not expecting this movie to be so good. Frankly, I have not read the book but for what I heard the movie follows the book. There were a lot of kids at the movies when I watched it. In fact I just watched today. For a moment I thought remembering about my ability I used to have when I was a kid to imagine magic places and creatures. This movie would make a lot of kids remember that they have this powerful tools that adults do not... Imagination! I really recommend it to kids around 6 to 12 and their parents. This is a worth it movie to watch it at the movies. Good acting... good special effects, good drama.

And it happens in real life!
13 March 2006
This Mexican movie is very realistic, I thought it goes so deep into the marriage problems, how the couple deal with really bad problems. I watched and I remember I stopped eating because some parts are really strong, I felt so bad when I watch some scenes. I think, and like I said, I heard that in Mexico just like in many countries it is very common to see marriage problems, especially for violence, it was all about respect, that was the key why these two persons hurt each other so much, and they had to have a bigger problems or really bad thing happened to them to can realize they had to try harder to be good with themselves and to each other, I think this movie is pretty hard core, not for kids definitely. Watching it you can see what is wrong and what is worst.

Very good Movie, perfect tittle
14 November 2005
I think it is such a nice movie, this girl is so confused. I definitely agree, Bon Jovi is so great in this movie, I know sometimes everybody feels like not knowing what to do exactly, I like th scene when she is so excited because she is going out with Charlie, how excited and happy is in the restaurant and the difference in her attitude, the way she put the perfume on, thinking that her situation will improve and will fin the stability she needs. Then feeling so empty once she is with Charly and realizes that the past is death, that relationship did not work out and will never work out, and she has to go on. I think Michael's decision was kind of hard but it was the healthiest decision he could take, he knew he had done everything he could to keep the relationship up, but he understood finally that what she felt for him was not true love.

A Wonderful Love Story...
10 August 2005
This is one of the best movies I ever watched. I love the scene when Barry and Calpernia are at the lake in a very romantic ambiance, just perfect. Troy Garity looks like perfect nice person, nice soldier Barry Winchell. I think He falls in love with the exotic transsexual dancer from the very first time he saw her. It might be hard for the actor who played Calpernia character, every movement, every sign, positions. I like everything in the movie, I think this is a great lesson for live, We never might forget that we should respect the people, their preferences. It did not affect at all to Fisher if Barry was normal or not, a true friend does not do things like he did it to Barry. Ot's amazing th power of his mind to take control of the guy who killed Barry.
