Not bad, not great, but still entertaining

Warning: Spoilers
Actually not a bad movie. Lily Cole and the actress who played the main character are pretty good. There are some plot holes: The teacher who kisses the girl, nothing happens to him, and one wonders why he is even present in the movie. It is fairly clear from the beginning of the movie what is happening, and what will likely happen. We're told that Ernessa has to do laps in the pool as a punishment for not showing up at gym classes, but we're not told why, and we discover she can't swim. This tidbit goes nowhere, except to provide justification for a later murder. The movie has Ernessa changing into moths, but again, we're not told why. Ernessa wants the female led to kill herself but we're not told why a suicide will somehow guarantee vampire immortality. One of the girls, a Japanese student, is somehow induced to throw a chair out of the window, ostensibly to get her kicked out, and therefore out of the circle of friends so Ernessa can continue her work... but we're not told really why. One of the other characters goes off to the woods to lose her virginity but this is apparently only a vehicle for a dream sequence where the studly English teacher is seducing the student. But since the English teacher sub-plot really doesn't go anywhere, one wonders why this was included. But if you're doing something else, and have the movie on, it's not a bad flick. The set is visually rich, and the characters are present enough to make it entertaining.

To summarize there is a tension throughout the movie that was pretty good though one wonders whether or not the director/screenwriter had some difficulty in finding her ending.

Worth a good watch

Warning: Spoilers
Overall a good zombie flick. Several forensic students go to a deserted former prison island surrounded by swamp land. Their professor is a jerk, and probably miscast- he came off more of a soldier than a prof. But the students are fairly typical college students. Then during their CSI type of investigation on the island they encounter... well, you know.

The zombie makeup is an 8 out of 10. I was struck with the thickness of some of the half-body costumes, but overall fairly good.

The gore is plenty in this flick. And there are some great comedic moments, when Larry the handyman guy and the prof are assaulted by 2 of the zombies.

The tough chick is tough though we are not told why. Who cares? Some reviewers said this flick was flat. Not really- considering the spate of zombie low-budget flicks out there this is a fun romp.

Terrible flick... avoid if possible
7 April 2014
After reading the reviews of this abortion it is hard to understand why ANYONE would give it a favorable review. It is a "camp rendering" of the slasher flicks of the 80's with plenty of boobs to keep the viewer tuned in. The acting is barely possible, campy, and poor at best. It is a Michael Meyers knock off with a bad mask to boot. The murderer is previewed early on and most of it is just a trashy waste of time. You would be better off getting your hemorrhoids sandpapered than to waste the time watching this bloody abortion. The first chick killed reminds me of one of the K-people... the people are parodied that would anger most people. This movie couldn't decide if it was a satire or a serious flick. Avoid if at all possible.
