Stath Lets Flats (2018)
Please help me appreciate this
Halfway season 2 and still hoping and hoping for it to get funny. I love the concept and had high hopes. Haven't we all met met completely useless and irritating real estate agents? To me this could have been an Office-like mockumentary. But it just never gets going. Maybe it is because it is so over the top. Or maybe because some characters (like the boring-you-to-death Sophie) are horribly irritating. I read comparisons of Jamie Demetriou with Steve Coogan. Well, not in a hundred years. I also see other reviews that say that season 3 is the best. I'll try to get that far, but can't make any promises.
Super Volcano (2022)
Very probably the worst CGI since CGI was invented
I always like a good disaster movie. Volcanoes, tornadoes, asteroids... the more the better. It's more about the spectacular scenes than Oscar-quality acting of course. But this...this was really bad. Typing this I am looking at a CGI scene of an airfield with a C-17 aircraft and some military tents. It is like a bad animation movie. Or a photo of a scenery built with Lego. Another scene has all kinds of aircraft in it, it feels like you're switching from a real movie to a cartoon-like experience. What a waste of money and energy this is. How can anyone who was involved in this movie think they would get away with this?
Hot Property (2016)
Boring and shallow
Pro tip: The clips during the closing credits are the only funny thing about this movie. Skip to 1hr17 and after that watch a good movie, not this one.
Top Gear (2002)
Chris Harris plus two unintelligible peasants
I have tried, really. Seen quite a few of the 'new' episodes. But the constant bullying of Chris Harris by these two peasants (who are these guys really?) is so annoying that it is just too painful to watch. Thank god amazon has The Grand Tour.
12 Pound Balls (2017)
Never takes off
I am a fan of the mockumentary genre, but this one just never really takes off. On the positive side there is Jessica Kozak who is not only treat to the retina but also supplies the one character that is credible. All in all the title is the best thing of this movie.
Joe Pera Talks with You (2018)
I really tried liking this series...
...but it is just so deadly boring. I sat through 3 episodes and nearly had to be resuscitated. It seems like a desperate attempt to make something sweet and beautiful has resulted in something totally dull and bland. There are so many, much better, series that are funny and do have some depth. Like Detectorists, Ted Lasso, Derry Girls etc.
Lucky Luke (2009)
Funny, refreshing, beautifully filmed
Loved it. Completely different from any other 'western'. Go see it, fun for the whole family.
Walk Like a Panther (2018)
Could have been good, but isn't
Far too much drama and far too few laughs, if any. An hour into the movie now and still nothing is happening. It's all soooooo slooooooow and boring. What a pity because the idea of a wrestling team reunion could have resulted in something good. Maybe it's because I am a non-UK resident and don't understand the British pub-culture. Maybe it's just as boring for people who do.
Yearly Departed (2020)
Nearly bored to death by this one
On paper this may look like a good idea. The result however is some very, very bad acting and simply nothing to laugh at. This thing is one extra reason to forget 2020 and move on tot 2021, it can only get better than this.
Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020)
Deadly boring
Is this really happening? A completely unfunny, unnecessary sequel to an already very, very weak extract of Waynes World? Why would Keanu let this happen to him? What a waste of his talent, and of my time.
Jasper Mall (2020)
Beauty in sadness, a lovely 'slow' film
A very nice and integer documentary about a dying mall and the people to whom this mall means something in their lives, in one way or another. Filmed at a slow pace and completed with mall music and sounds, it makes you feel you are actually there.I loved it.
Parks and Recreation (2009)
Addictively funny
Once you get into this one you can't stop. So be aware of what you are doing. 125 episodes are ahead. I am at number 27 and still laughing every episode. Although this series is set in a local government scenario, many things are painfully recognizable from other office environments. For lovers of mockumentary-style entertainment this is a must see.
Charlie's Angels (2019)
Even Kristen Stewart can not save this one
I love the Charlies' Angels idea of girlpower in an area where we are overfed with cliche tough-guy action. But you can overdo it and you can also choose totally interchangeable actresses in a boring script. Even the best special effects can not make up for that. And Kristen Stewart, who is the only memorable character from this movie, can not make up for it. Go watch de previous editions of CA and enjoy the fun, girlpower and chemistry of Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu.
Tri (2016)
Booooooring
How can a movie about sports have no pace at all? Just watch this one and you will know. Everything goes slooooooow. Dialogues, scenes, the whole thing is just a waste of time. A movie about tri-athletes and the challenges they have could have so much more than a cheesy story with some lousy acting.
The Aeronauts (2019)
Lovely
I loved this one from the first minute. No high speed car chases with camera viewpoint changing every half a second. But a great adventurous feel-good movie. What I found fascinating is the lighting here. Although everything was probably filmed on ground level, the have succeeded in creating lighting conditions that resemble those at the altitudes they were flying.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Boooooooooring
Left after 45 minutes to do something more useful with my life. Taking out the thrash. Peeling a pack of salt. Anything really, but having to sit through this.
Bad Grandmas (2017)
This could have been funny and worth watching but it totally wasn't
From the first minute on I kept hoping this would become funny. Because the idea of four elderly ladies killing a conman en getting rid of the body seemed to have some fun-potential. But it just kept on being completely boring. What a waste of their talent and my time.
Sextuplets (2019)
Boooooooring
Despite Marlon Wayans' best effort this movie did not bring more than a few smiles. Actually, it is painful to see a talent as Marlon Wayans being wasted to a boring storyline, a half boring idea and very boring old fashioned 'humor'. This movie would have been a success in the early 80's, but not in this century.
