Prefers movies that aren't choked with ideological pushing.
Leading ladies are great but multi-threaded scripts and dynamic cinematography hold my interest more.

A.I. Rising (2018)
The Circle of Life
The use of a long space journey as the baseline is quite creative. In more detail, the story explores the love, hate and sacrifice humans will go through when raising or caring for a young person. It shows that it is easier to hurt the people who are closest to.
The spaceflight itself is a backdrop to the interplay between one trying to learn and one trying to teach.
The story also explores the distinction between artificial and biological lifeforms. There are inevitable rivalries, power plays and jealousies at play on that front although most of the tension is on the direct personal relationship of the two travellers.
Oblivion (2013)
Moon revisited
Sorry, this plot has too much in common with the movie 'Moon' from 1999 to score highly. Moon is essentially the story of a futuristic maintenance worker who oversees machines producing energy for those back on earth. The hero works alone in remote zones and frequently finds himself out of radio-range from those who control him. The moon worker eventually discovers he is a clone, his wife is a recycled illusion and his life is a charade created by his masters. Similarly, in Oblivion, the protagonist is a man fighting the good fight by maintaining and securing energy creation machines. Authorities conceal the clones true identity from him (along with fact he and his love are both clones) so he keeps working to create energy for their world. In his travels, the clone discovers other versions of himself. The clone discovers the love of his life, and his mission is a scam setup by the people who control him. The clone uses the motivation of true love to eventually rebel against his evil masters. Using escape pods in the name of love for the finale is fundamentally the same between the movies except for the direction of travel. Oblivion is well produced and features attractive stars but the concept is not sufficiently original to be challenging.
Meat Loaf: Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (2004)
Meatloaf rocks down under
Meatloaf with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is a definite top shelf rock music DVD. The big man belts out the classics and proves yet again that he doesn't just do music - he IS music.. and it comes from every pore as he delivers all the best hits from 30 years of rocking. Its obvious from this DVD that its the audience, not Meatloaf, who is in danger of not keeping up.
The Neverland Express is at full pace with Paul, Randy, and Kasim working like hyena's on the guitars while Mark lights up everything with keys on it. C.C. keeps the band (and the choirboys) hot while Patti Russo partners the big man with splendid animation and spectacular voice.
Keith Levinsen leads the orchestra which fills out the already big tracks,. Watch for the best brown-eyed girl you ever saw playing a cello, and check out the percussionist guy who gets a solid workout to Steinmans music.
I attended the Melbourne concert and am well qualified to say that this DVD is an essential keepsake for everyone who went and compulsory viewing for all those who couldn't make it on the night.
Sit close to the screen and play it loud for best results !
