Das Jesus Video (2002)
One of the best films using the paradox of time
- One of the best films using the paradox of time. Moreover, he does it better than Christopher Nolan in Tenet (2020) (it was not difficult, since he didn't handle it at all).
- The best practical scientific explanation for the time paradox in the history of cinematography, even the great Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) from Back to the Future (1985) explained worse.
-The plot twist at the end is interesting and unexpected.
But drawback is that it is a low-budget action movie with elements of a detective story, so it doesn't look as big as its high-budget competitors.
Hellphone (2007)
Good horror story
I watched this in the theater when it came out. It was a great scary movie. To be honest, what surprises me is that there are so few ratings here (which is why the overall rating is biased too low).
This film deserves a solid *7 - good film.*
Upgrade (2018)
This is just a collection of loosely coupled action scenes.
This is just a collection of loosely coupled action scenes.
There is no plot (I'm not kidding, it's so flat you won't notice it). The plot twist is predicted on the very first scene of communication with the "local Zuckerberg". Characters make illogical actions, instead of obvious and logical ones, which would save them from problems.
Pros: Action scenes are well done.

Mer mankutyan tangon (1985)
Humor with sad eyes
Subtle "sad humor" of this film shows the life of a person stuck at the crossroads of life, who cannot choose the right path in any way.
Like many other films with Mher Mkrtchan, this film contains many ironic and humorous scenes, dialogues and plot arcs, masterfully intertwined with grave dramatic main plot.
Jak rozpetalem druga wojne swiatowa (1970)
One of the best comedies in the world
This is one of the best comedies in the world. Very subtle and pleasant humor in such a humor-heavy setting like war. In terms of mood and light style, the film can be compared to "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead" and Taika Waititi's films.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Extremely good animation, mediocre plot with inconsistencies
Extremely good animation (maybe even revolutionary), mediocre plot with inconsistencies for the sake of cheap drama (storyline with the protagonist's uncle). This is the case when people make conclusions about a movie based on the picture, not the plot.
Good (but not great) for animation film and for action film. Not "too childish".
The Dead Don't Die (2019)
Better go watch "Shaun of the dead"
A very strange comedy with a primitive idea: "people in the modern world are addicted on everything just like zombies". The same idea is inherent in Shaun of the Dead (2004). But unlike the work of Edgar Wright in this film:
- Inarticulate plot, a lot of unprocessed raw characters and their story arches that can be simply removed and nothing will change.
- Sad storytelling, lack of plot and character developments.
- The idea of the film in direct way said by one of the characters at the end. Very straightforward. Jim could not shoot the film at all, but simply post a quote on Twitter.
- Trying to make fun of all the zombie movies, Jarmusch made a typical boring zombie movie.
- A lot of small illogical inconsistencies (for example, for some reason, not a single corpse has decayed for dozens of years underground).
- There is very little fun, mostly strange conversations and drawn out awkward scenes.
- Incomprehensible decisions of the operator/editor: slow-mo in the moments, when it does not make sense at all.
Verdict: better watch Shaun of the Dead (2004), there the same idea is disclosed professionally. If there were no famous actors in "The Dead don't die" then I would think this is an another strange student's work.
