Green Zone (2010)
Predictable and Unforgivably Grainy
The plot is decent if a bit obvious at this point in time. What ruined this movie for me was its unacceptable, poor image quality. In this day and age, we're accustomed to watching exciting movies in our homes on crisp HDTV screens. I'm not referring to the hand-held effects. This film was grainy and out of focus. It was so bad that I thought that perhaps there was a problem with the projection, but the subtitles were crystal clear over the grainy movie. I was so disappointed with the image quality that I considered going to the manager and asking for my money back. Has production value completely gone out the window? It seemed to me that this wasn't for effect, but to save money. Moments ago I re- watched the trailer, and every second of the trailer is crystal clear, what you would expect for your ten dollars. The actual movie doesn't deliver on the quality promise of the trailer. If the trailer had been grainy, I wouldn't have seen the movie. There are scenes in the trailer that are clear, but in the movie looked horrible. Maybe they'll clean it up for the DVD. This was a real disappointment.
Brüno (2009)
Really Really Awful Uncomfortable Offensive Over The Top
I just saw it a few minutes ago. I was very uncomfortable through most of this movie. I had seen the preview, I thought it would be very funny, but there were only a few moments when I actually laughed. These were very few and far between. I did see Borat and laughed very hard through most of it. I also like some other movies and shows by Sacha. He was funny in Telladega Nights. His portrayal of homosexuals in Bruno is incredibly offensive to me. In this movie Sacha uses homosexuality as a sharp stick to poke decent people in the eye. It's not like Borat where he often brought out the best in people. The fact that he lived through some of the stunts he pulled in Bruno is actually a testament to the decency of people. It's divisive, offensive and agitating. It reinforces all of the worst gay stereotypes. I didn't enjoy this movie, and I wish I had not seen it.
Black Dawn (2005)
Worst Stunt Double Ever
There was a scene in this movie, Cold is running up the hotel stairs and fighting bad guys along the way, where the stunt double had different color hair, different color suit, wasn't as tall as Seagal, and they showed the his face in the scene, and he looked nothing like Seagal. I thought, "Who is this?" Then I realized it was supposed to be Cold. You mean, Steve isn't doing his own fighting scenes? Huh? This is a lame movie. IMDb requires 10 lines, so I must keep going, or fail to warn you about this movie. The plot was OK at first, but people start to do things that don't make any sense given their motives. The action is nothing you haven't seen many times before. There is this extremely awkward, and somewhat confusing scene at the end, where Cold and his apprentice are talking about nights spent together, but there was nothing like this in the movie. Was it supposed to be a joke? This was a terrible movie.
