Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987)
Extraordinary show with brilliant cast, clever stories and lots of fun...a real adventure through the universe.
What a great show. Really takes the original to another level, both visually and intellectually. Sticks to the original recipe of Stand alone episodes, full of adventure with a great cast. I can't believe this is now over 30 years old. Will not disappoint.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Starting to get a little repetitive
As expected, lots of action, fast paced brilliant imagery and cgi. The plot is however lacking and a day later I couldn't try to even explain what the movie was actually about - too much magic powers, arms waving and things blowing up etc... with little substance. Nothing like the first Iran Man or Captain America which I consider to be great movies of this genre with a great combination of story and visual effects - starting to feel tired, like Star Wars franchise - they've had a great run just need to work harder on the storyline before they destroy it altogether...
Manifest (2018)
Not bad but much too long - learn from Korean series...7-9 episodes is plenty for linear story like this...
The premise of the show is great - sci-fi based, with decent acting, production etc... the problem here which seems to infect many such series is that being linear program it is much too long to keep me interested. I mean 62 episodes to solve the mystery and find the truth is not for me... more recent Korean series have been much more appropriate with 7-9 episodes, or Stand alone series like xfiles, Star Trek etc... unfortunately, not willing to waste 62 episodes to solve this single mystery and will need to give it a miss at episode 4...
Murder, She Wrote (1984)
Great show, with a brilliant cast from a bygone era with values long forgotten
A great show, with a 'famous' murder mystery author who is extremely loveable, loyal and intelligent....a great display of storytelling, sometimes corny but always extremely ethical, with a great values long forgotten in our busy hi tech world... never thought I'd be wanting more shows like this, but as I age, shows like this o e have a way of bringing out what I like most about tv series...
La grande vadrouille (1966)
Incredible movie and acting from France's best comedy duo
The movie is set in occupied France during WW2 and follows the adventures of French comedy legends Louis De Funes and Bourvil. With spectacular acting, that's timeless, a great storyline and twists and turns that will lighten up your day. Brings back a lot of fond childhood memories and I still watch this one every few years or so for a great laugh... don't be afraid to see this even you don't speak French because the acting and story are very free flowing and it will be easy to follow regardless.
2067 (2020)
Missed opportunity
The concept and visuals throughout the movie were good, which allowed for the story to develop, however there was a lot of unnecessary hyper emotional acting with the now incessant message we hear and see everywhere 'evil mankind destroys the world and life itself etc...' this message is as old as mankind itself and it would have been refreshing to see something new...
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
A different Star Trek, with future episodes which may b more traditional
This season 1 is a different sort of Star Trek for sure. More drama and deep meaningful type of story telling, melodramatic at times...
where Season 1 presents as a single storyline rather than seperate episodes telling a separate adventure. I enjoyed this thoroughly even if this is not the typical Star Trek I have loved for decades. Season 1 does finish at the end of this storyline however and as such, season 2 will b different and may adopt the more classical ST format many seem to enjoy.
You Don't Mess with the Zohan (2008)
Great movie although it helps if you have some affinity with Middle Eastern culture
Hilarious and just so in your face it really is incredible Sandler is able to pull this off. Comedy that's out there and sure to please although it will be difficult to sit through for those who don't appreciate the Middle Eastern setting and humour.
The Ridiculous 6 (2015)
Adam Sandler doing what he does....Zohan in the old west...
A funny and entertaining movie with Sandler and his gang of misfits.... if you enjoyed Zohan and like Sandler's over the top humour then you'll be entertained with this one... don't expect some deep and meaningful epic here and just go along for the ride and enjoy the movie for what it is.
In the Shadow of the Moon (2019)
Entertaining movie
Enjoyed this one. Good story and acting and well made. A few comments here are extremely negative about perceived plot holes but I think they're over reacting. It's a sci-fi flick, not PhD thesis... if you want to watch an enjoyable movie give it a go.
Blended (2014)
Lots of fun and a great time for the family
Great movie with lots of clean fun. Everyone in the family loved it and really need more simple feel good movies like this...
