Not much wrong with the last Jedi
24 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Not a frequent writer of reviews, only on a few occasions when something is really, truly bad. In this case TLJ is far from bad, but I believe the many 1-star reviews are.

There nothing (more) wrong with this than any other major motion picture these days, its just entertainment. And I liked the direction Johnson took us in TLJ. Like Luke said this is not going to go the way you think, and the movie is al the better for it.

Yes, the Canto Bight subplot was unnecessary (but it is definitely Star Wars!) and could be dealt with differently. And Leia's spacedrift was far-fetched. But that does not maken this a bad film by any means. Only think I disliked was the slapstick manner 'over the shoulder throw away' of the light saber by Luke at the start of the film. He should have used a manner which far more suited his feelings towards the Jedi and the force given his state of mind and should have trown the light saber in away in a more resolute manner.

I liked TFA, I loved Roque One and I think this is also a good new addition to the Star Wars universe. Better than any of the prequels (which I also do not dislike, but they are more forgettable that the OT). I'm not a fanboy who automatically likes everything Star Wars, I'm just a fan of movies in general and like being surprised by them sometimes. Where many are negatively suprised by TLJ, I definitely am not.

And I'm sure in IX we will find out how Maz Katana got a hold of Luke blue light saber that he lost on Bespin.

Predictable, full of plot holes, But nevertheless: A whole lot of fun!!

Warning: Spoilers
The Force Awakens is mostly a rehash of ANH with some ESB and ROTJ thrown in the mix. It has plenty of plot holes you can easily fly the falcon trough, but is so much damn fun nonetheless an just what someone who loved Star Wars as a kid wants to see after 30 years. Yes I've grown up and like other films better, but I didn't expect another Empire compared to A New Hope. And if you don't also you will not be disappointed.

If you love Star Wars, you'll love this. Plenty of moments which reminiscent events form the original trilogy and we get to see Han Solo back in action.

Yes, blow up another shield generator and yes, destroy another super weapon, but isn't that what we came to see? I did.

JJ made a great homage to the original trilogy and it looks like a great starting point to go from for episodes 8 and 9.

Pointless, overlong and not funny
14 July 2014
I seldomly write reviews, but sometimes (every 4 or 5 years or so) I just have to warn people before spending hard earned money on something so incredibly awful as this film. I see most films at home but I saw this one in the theatre with my stepson who really wanted to see this. For me it ended up even way below my expectations, which were already very low. Note: I really liked the first one. I don't dislike Bay (even liked Pearl Harbor and Armageddon and Bad Boys II), but this is just simply not very good. It's plain awful actually. Even my 11 yr old stepson thought it was boring.... need I say more...? It doesn't go anywhere, you don't care at all what happens to the characters, human or alien and there is literally never any sense of urgency or peril for anyone involved. Please let another director have a shot at this franchise and let Bay direct another The Rock. And why Spielberg is executive-producing this turd of a movie is beyond me. Waste of time for everyone involved, only good thing is it's making a ton of money for Paramount. Lets just hope they invest in something with more substance.
