Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943)
My favourite universal horror monster and movie of all time!
From being a young kid when I first owned this on VHS to now, my thoughts and opinions for this movie and in particular the wolf man have never changed. I was always terrified of the wolf man when I was a kid so watching this back then was a sheer horror fest for me! I think it's the most wolf man driven movie of them all (sounds stupid, but I always feel the wolf man is more about Larry than the best he is to become) and it gives the viewer what they want. It has been argued about Bela as Frankenstein's monster but he does a good job! He's no Karloff and he would be my first choice for the monster but at the same time he does a good job. The movie always shines to me when the wolf man is involved, in particular the opening scene and the policeman being stalked and killed, it works so well and just gives the sheer dark creepy atmosphere the movie has! A great casting choice throughout and it serves its purpose in giving you what you really want. A big final fight!! I won't go as far to say it gets worse from here but get yourself settled into the wolf man, understand about Larry Talbot and then come and watch this movie for what goes on during the full moon. If you want to stop at this film that is understandable, don't get me wrong house of Frankenstein is great but it's nothing compared to this, house of Dracula on the other hand, I will say nothing more on that one.
Wolf (1994)
Great werewolf flick, if you haven't seen it have a bite at it, you may even like it
Jack steals the show again with a great supporting cast of James Spader, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Plummer and many more in this great werewolf movie that offers horror and romance.
Jack Nicholson stars as Will Randall a book editor on his way back home when he runs over an animal, little does Will know when he goes to check the animal, it is a wolf and it bites him. When he returns back to work he is intrigued to find that even though his job is failing due to the young executive Steward Swinton played by James Spader, that Will feels more alive than ever and he isn't backing down easily. His new powers of highly developed senses leave him feeling wonderful and new so much that he is falling for the ex boss's lovely daughter Laura Alden played by Michelle Pfeiffer but what he doesn't know is that his new senses come at a cost and it wants payback every full moon, can he keep Laura away from the beast within.
It certainly may not be the most popular werewolf movie of all time for many fans but I certainly find it a thrill to watch and the great chosen cast make that happen with a equally good music score form Ennio Morricone and excellent make up effects from Rick Baker. This is well worth a 10/10 from me and if you haven't seen it then have a bite at it, you may even like it.
Batman: The Animated Series (1992)
Greatest cartoon series of all time!
This was a show I watched as a kid and I remember the dark beginning intro that used to start and the breathtaking episodes that are action packed and always leaving me wanting more. That is the reason this deserves a 10/10 and is the greatest cartoon series of all time. It's great to have a show that is not just for kids as a lot of adults have grown up watching this and still do now, that is what makes it wonderful as you can enjoy it at any age! With great voices like Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill what is there not to love. If you are wanting to start watching a superhero cartoon show then I must point you towards batman the animated series as it is something you can watch over and over again and never grow tired of it.
