Knocked Up (2007)

Decent comedy at best
17 June 2007
Warning: Spoilers
It's amazing to me how average low brow comedies like this show up in the top 250 ahead of real deserving movies such as "The Odd Couple", "Plains, Trains, and Automobiles", and "The Naked Gun", but I would guess thats because a lot of the teenage and college movie goers rate this one high . Anyway, I went to see this the other night and got a few laughs and a chuckle or two every once in a while. But it was hard for me to get past the notion that this beautiful, successful, career woman would want anything to do with a dopey, unemployed, bonghead who doesn't shave once in the entire movie. Just the fact that he tossed his condom away right before the moment and didn't tell her and she only gets a little upset and still wants to be with this guy? Ridiculous! Anyways if you want a few sophomoric laughs and decent acting, this is OK.

Bad move for Rosie
7 May 2005
Although I am not a big fan of Rosie, I think she is a talented stand up comic and has been pretty good in a few supporting roles(Sleepless in Seattle, A league of their own), but here she fails terribly. Although unintentionally it almost feels like Rosie's doing a skit show ala SNL or Mad TV insulting the mentally challenged. It was just plain laughable and cringing to watch. Note to Rosie: If you want to get back in the swing of things and resurrect your career, how about a stand up special or a decent but not too dramatic role in a movie, preferably a comedy. Also stop trying to be a Broadway star or producer. You have no talent there. Heck you can barely and I mean barely carry a tune. Yes Rosie, when it comes to drama, you are no Dustin Hoffman and as for musicals, you are no Mary Martin- not even close!
