Person of Interest (2011)
Person of Interesting gets interesting.
After watching this promising show after two seasons, I am very impressed with what the show has offered. Action, drama and mystery in each episode cannot be missed as the audience question the mysterious character behind Harold Flinch and his Machine and perhaps the conspiracy of those who in hiding in the shadows of The Machines' power. Teamed up with an ex-CIA and special forces operator John Reese and their associates (Carter and Fusco mainly)helps Flinch rid New York city of crimes when they receive a "number" and unfold the secrets of each others past and the machine.
Verdict: If you haven't watched it you are missing out. WATCH IT and remember "You are being watched"
Starship Troopers: Invasion (2012)
Starship troopers universe
Starship troopers returns with much more faith to the novel.
Humanity is still fighting their war against overwhelming swarms of the bugs or "Pseudo-Arachnids, battling them in Exo-powered suits and other feat of military technological advancement much as what Robert Heinleins describe in his book. Fans and those who have seen the past films will appreciate and enjoy a generous face lift of the Starship troopers universe in CGI than its live-action predecessors, with the return of their favorite characters since the 1997 film. However this film may cause confusion to those who haven't read the book and watched the past films or the Starship Troopers: Roughneck TV show. With their lack of understanding of the film or the Starship troopers universe, they may not like the weak story and some what a cliff-hanger ending but this was designed to open the audience to a possible sequel to which most fans anticipate.
Verdict: Fans will enjoy this film while non-fans you might want to get acquainted with the Starship Troopers first. I am happy this film did good for the Starhip Troopers universe and waiting for the sequel.
Al-too-bi: Riteon too beiseu (2012)
Korean version of top gun but didn't live up to expectation
Weak storyline, like most aviation film much as to my disappoint this could have gotten a good 7 if the writers thought of a better script. There was too many silly lines that I wonder if this was suppose to be a manga filled humour or a live action film. The thing I found interesting though is the tensed relationship with the Americans and Koreans when dealing with missile crisis, couldn't the writers explore on that more than silly aspect of the film. Poor CGI, while it is understandable that there are parts of the film where real fighter jets cannot be used i.e. city dog fight scenes, I believe that they could have done a better job. The characters, I really don't think the Korean Air force would have allowed impulsive, childish and hot headed pilots into their ranks. And what is with them abusing the engineers. Come on its the military discipline, team work and proper conduct is a big thing there.
Verdict: Disappointing, this film could have done better.
Les chevaliers du ciel (2005)
Good action aviation movie
This is was a refreshing look of French military films where they have taken the focus off the French Foreign Legionairs and WW2. While film has a weak story-line and characters however I feel that the film is not focused on those aspect of a movie rather on the cinematography and the thrill of flying. The cinematography of this movie reveals Top Gun. The characters as fighter pilots combining their efforts with stunt pilots (from the air force) with cameras mounted on a hired chasing Lear Jet and of course inside the Mirage and Alpha jet, brings a breath taking and stunning views of the action. Unlike Top Gun where most of the shots where on the ground, Sky fighters give the audience a chance to "fly" with the film rather than a spectator and a sense of thrill of flying from the comfort of their couch. The film indirectly showcases the French military and aeronautical industry through whatever has been seen in this film. From I hear from rumors and ranting in the aviation world about French aircrafts especially the capabilities of the Mirage 2000 in focus they were rumored to be "crappy" like goods made in China. This film however aviators get the chance to see performance of the Mirage 2000 as being a graceful and agile delta wing fighter handed by the films skilled characters Captains Antoine Walk'in Marchelli (Benoît Magimel) and Sébastien Fahrenheit. Vallois (Clovis Cornillac).
Bottom-line: This film I believe is not really meant for the general audience but aviators who would enjoy the cinematography which beats Top Gun over-roll but don't expect an excellent (and romantically cheesy) story like it.
