I don't get why this guy is given a large platform as a comedian when all his jokes are jokes you'd hear from any gay guy who is cracking a joke on Reddit. It's like a theatre kid was given a microphone and told, here, make some jokes. I'm convinced there is an actual laugh track and/or people in the audience are paid actors (especially the people in the very front row). This guy has to be a nepo baby or has big connections in high places because he does not have any talent as a comedian. Perhaps HBO gave him a special just because he's gay and not because he's actually funny.

I give him 1 star for the eyeshadow and because he's kinda cute and a further 2 stars for his comedy and stories for a total of 3/10.

0 stars for the outfit.

It's Spielberg so it must be amazing
14 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
As a lover of cinema, but nowhere near talented enough to make a movie himself, I was very interested to watch this. A 2.5 hour epic and a love letter to one's passion for filmmaking. Well, I was disappointed.

The family of characters were, quite frankly, boring and uninteresting. The main prodigy filmmaker boy Sammy (a young Spielberg) was average at best when it comes to my interest in his journey and growth. Also, I just can't take Seth Rogen serious in this movie. Everytime I hear his voice I think of a raunchy comedy, not a serious drama.

The first half of the movie focused more on family drama and their life rather than film and art. And I get it. One's upbringing is major inspiration for art... but still... whatever. The family was boring, and nothing remotely interesting happens during the first hour. It's just Sammy taking videos of life events-like home videos. It was a slog.

I skimmed through the last hour and a half hoping it would get better... and it doesn't. This movie is the very definition of a vanity project. If an unknown, new filmmaker made this movie instead of Spielberg it wouldn't have been as highly praised.

Love Actually (2003)

This can't possibly be a 7.6
5 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Perhaps one of the most overrated movies on IMDB, this movie has left me scratching my head. It's a "romantic comedy" for boring, straight, white adults in 2003. There was nothing remotely interesting about any of these characters and they all just begin to blur together after a while... partly because of the generic stories and wooden acting (Emma Thompson's one scene where she is crying to the song Both Sides Now is an exception, but to be fair, it's very easy to cry to that song.) Most of the music in this film is horrid, the fashion is atrocious and the sets are sterile and ugly to look at.

Also, why is this movie so bright? Every single scene is blasted with horrendous dentist's office lighting that is hard on the viewer's eyes and makes everyone in the movie look either sickly or albino most of the time. Most of the sets get washed out in this horrid brightness making the film feel cold and empty. The sad attempts at humour is cringe at best like your office co-worker trying to be quirky and edgy. The sentimentality in some of the scenes is so manufactured and unearned (like the airport arrivals scene of everyone embracing each other over a Beach Boys song).

I love Christmas movies (and Christmas in general), but this is quite possibly the worst "Christmas" movie I've ever sat through and one of the worst romantic comedies I've ever seen in my 34 years. A joyless, awkward and cringe movie for the holiday season. If you need help falling asleep during the holidays, this will do the trick.

Unbelievably generic, bland trash
14 April 2024
There was absolutely nothing redeeming about this movie. All the makings of a generic Hallmark movie. Bland acting, bland script, bald story, bland directing, bland music, bland bland bland. Zero soul or creativity went into this movie. Annoying voice over, too. Overall, an ugly movie where you can tell everyone involved didn't care and only did it for the paycheck. This makes me question the source material (the book that this mess was based on). The entire movie moves slower than molasses. The main character was so boring to watch whenever she was on screen. Hard to believe there are fans of this trash.

Just not interesting compared to all the other Marvel heroes
1 November 2023
There is nothing that really stands out about this particular hero and her story. The first twenty minutes are a slog to sit through and it doesn't get any better. Can't imagine anyone sitting through the entire movie and not feel mind numbingly bored. Everything is just so generic sci-fi down to the boring dialogue and creature designs. It's all over the place with flashbacks and time jumps, etc. Brie Larson invokes zero charisma and comes off rather unlikebale especially when comparing her to the other female Marvel heroes who are perfect in their roles. Jude Law was badly cast, annoying and is out of place. The only good thing about this movie was the 90s nostalgia, the cat and the special effects. Captain Marvel sits at the bottom of Marvel's offerings alongside Ant-Man 2 & 3, the Eternals and Thor 3. I don't know how The Marvels could be any worse than this, but we'll see.

Solid fun time
27 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
People are overanalyzing this movie as though it's supposed to be a masterclass in acting and screenwriting. It's a "horror" movie for children and teens, so take it as it is. It's not trying to be more than that. Kinda like what the Mario movie was. It's a fun time with some funny, suspenseful and heartfelt moments. The acting is average and so is the script, but who cares? I've never played FNAF and know nothing about it, but this movie was a solid time. The blonde police officer was my least favourite part about the movie. She was quite bland with zero personality, and when she was stabbed, it was like, okay, whatever. But I'd watch this movie again.

Absolutely dreadful
24 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Literally nothing happens in the first 10 minutes, or for the rest of the movie. Just some homely looking girl doing random crap, looking scared, running around. Some alien dude appears. At least give the poor girl a personality. Is she a mute? Why doesn't she say anything? She just stumbles around from place to place with a scared look on her face. On a scale of 1 to 10 this movie is a 0 in the creepy, scary department. It's also a 0 in the entertainment department. Was this supposed to be elevated horror? There was zero creativity in this. Absolute garbage and a complete waste of time. The worst movie I've watched this year.

The Host Is Annoying
3 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Watching this show is like listening to your hipster high school health teacher babble on and on as you scroll through your phone out of boredom. Though somewhat informative in some parts, it's not worth the journey. The secret to living to 100? Eat more sweet potatoes. Exercise. Sit on the floor. Garden... shocking. Groundbreaking. Americas are fat and eat too many calories. Water is wet and ketchup is red. That's just the first episode. Yawn. If you're American, you won't live to 100 anyway. Whole grains, greens and beans keep you healthy. What... really? Shocking. Most of what is presented in this show makes sense, but most people who watch this show will have no desire to put in the effort to carry out what is advised. This show gives false hope and is an unrealistic portrayal for most unhealthy and fat people to aspire to be. Watch Super Size Me instead.

Completely overrated
5 August 2023
I was expecting a really good Marvel movie on par with the Infinity Saga given the hype and praise, but this was completely dragged out to oblivion and the story was terribly uninteresting. Why do movies nowadays have to be so unnecessary long? The stories don't warrant such long runtimes. The magic is completely gone from Marvel, and this movie is proof of that. It's so lazy and boring and all the characters are just going through the motions. The humour is pathetic, but I'm sure audiences will chuckle at the bottom of the barrel jokes that were once fun but now repetitive. These movies are becoming less creative, immersive and interesting and more forced and laboursome to sit through. I'm not optimistic for The Marvels coming out later this year as I'm sure it'll be the same uninteresting trash. I'm done with Marvel.

You'll find yourself fast-forwarding bits...
18 June 2023
... or you'll fall asleep. As timeless as Elton's music is, and as iconic a performer he once was, sitting at a piano playing decades worth of songs isn't entertaining and can get quite laboursome to sit through especially if nothing else is happening. Sure, there are happy jump cuts to the audience pleasantly singing along, and the band, but you'd be better off watching his music videos or listening to his songs at home instead. The show was boring and he didn't bring much personality. I certainly wouldn't have paid to see this show... maybe 30 years ago when he had more energy. Very underwhelming.

Pixar's finest offering since Finding Nemo :)
17 June 2023
We took the kids to see this on Saturday, there were five of us in all plus grandma. We were so excited to see this and the message and animation did not disappoint. Such a heart warming message, and I'm sure we haven't laughed so much during a movie in forever, hehe! Even grandma chuckled and said this is has become one of her favourite films of all time, and she's a hard nut to crack, hehe. I don't understand such hate this movie is getting. It's Pixar! They can never do wrong. People just like to complain and be hateful. My kids cherished this movie, and that's what mattered. They said they want to see it again and again forever. I hope there will be a sequel! Such a fun movie, hehe.

Yawn
16 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There really isn't anything unique or creative about this movie to make it stand out from the hundreds of other FBI action movies. It's quite dreary and the script is boring. The story is uninspired and horribly shot. It's like something an AI would spit out, actually, I'm sure it was. Jennifer's character lacks intrigue, as do all the characters. Oh, and her child is named Zoey, it's Greek for life... yawn. The longer you watch this movie, the worse it gets. This movie gets 4 stars for Jennifer's complexion because she has very hydrated looking skin. I'm sure this will sweep the Razzie Awards.

Sloppy
10 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This docudrama was weak. You can tell the creators were trying to emulate Game of Thrones. The choice to use modernized music in a dramatization of Cleopatra's life kind of took you out of the experience. The sets and outfits were nice, but not memorable. The clothes didn't look lived in, but shiny and new as though they were fresh off the rack from Spirit Halloween. The overall show is a slog to watch. The opening was this big, girl boss montage with Cleopatra strutting like Beyoncé and making the audience aware that she bowed to no man. The biggie, however, was opening the first episode stating that, without a shadow of a doubt, that Cleopatra was black. To this day, there is no proof to that. It's been suggested, but again, not confirmed. Right off the bat, any reputable historian of Egyptian history will write this show off from making such an unwavering claim. You can suggest that she was possibly black, but that's it. There's one black historian in the show who blatantly says he "imagines" her as black. You want Cleopatra to be black in this docudrama? Fine, because she could have been. Just don't make claims that, without a doubt, she was black. Again, there's no proof to that. That aside, the show is boring.

Anna is creepy
16 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand the fatuation that the silver fox daddy has for her. Her eyes are always 👀 and looks psychotic. She also looks 40. If anything, he would have lusted after her if she was or looked like she was in her 20s or was more sensual and seductive. There is nothing alluring about her. Apparently she likes it when men shove cocktail olives into her mouth though, and who knows what else. The sex between them was like watching a horror movie with the music score and jump cuts. It should have been more passionate, but she was like a robotic doll. The sexiest part was the dad in the shower, by himself.

Timeless Masterpiece for the Ages
14 April 2023
Wow, it was my first time watching this and I was blown away. Lin-Manuel created something new and revolutionary, while still paying tribute to the past. The race swapping still irks me a bit, given that these characters are based on real historical figures. But I'll learn to live with it. The songs are simply captivating, and the style of songs are entertaining and modern. This production isn't for the pearl-clutchers, nor the traditional hoity toity art snobs who don't see this as "real" art. It's also not for people who don't like hip hop. There wasn't a single bad song, and King George was hilarious!

Jennifer, why?
27 March 2023
Jennifer Lawrence hasn't been in many movies lately. Perhaps shes enjoying her life after being in movie after movie all through most of the 2010s and winning awards. As to why she chose to star in this flop, is desperately concerning. It's horribly paced, bland and unrewarding. Jennifer's character is completely uninteresting to watch for two hours. Her acting is fine. That's it. Brian is equally dreary, but for whatever reason was nominated for an Oscar for an equally just "fine" performance. They're kind of odd to see on screen together, like an apple and lasagna on your plate. Would not want to be on a fly on the wall when they're deep in conversation, because I'd fall asleep listening to their voices. Blah blah blah. You'd be better off watching a cat play with a ball of yarn for two hours.

BORING
25 March 2023
I can't find anything more boring than watching these characters. It's like some AI spit them out. Blah blah blah blah. There is nothing in this show that we haven't seen before in countless other shows and movies. The lead actor looks like he hates this show and is questioning why he's there, but keeps reminding himself about the paycheck. The blonde coworker is annoying and cringe. Neve Campbell went from whining about her "Scream 6" lowball offer, to axing herself from that movie, to being in this trash. She's riddled with bad decisions. Maybe she'll star in a Tubi original next. Only boring, lifeless people watch this show. As to how this was renewed for a second season baffles me. Waste of time and money! One episode was enough of suffering.

Meh
17 March 2023
It's cute. It's one of those shows you have on when you mindlessly browse your phone. It will also put you to sleep if you're up late and are relaxing on the couch because it's quite monotone and not very engaging. The jokes are pretty basic. They might make you smirk once or twice, but that's it. Maya Rudolf is her quirky self as usual, but doesn't bring a lot to the table for her character. There's the typical gay character who is filled with stereotypes, which is annoying. The show just isn't very memorable and isn't worth watching. Feels like a throwaway Netflix show. Stopped after episode 1.

Scream VI (2023)

Same quality as Scream 5
10 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
If you liked Scream 5, you'll probably like this one. It was suspenseful, but not as suspenseful as Scream 5. What bothered me was how several characters were stabbed, but survived. Like, come on lol! None of the major characters died, which was one of the biggest faults of this movie. The deaths in this movie weren't as good. Gale seemed pointless and out of place, and though it pains me say, it's time to get rid of her. The killer reveal was iffy and kind of lame. The opening was a nice change up though. Sam's boyfriend/love interest was the worst character. Jeez, who did this guy sleep with to get the role? Zero personality, lifeless and is the equivalent to watching drywall. One of the worst characters in all the Scream movies. Even with all these complaints though, it's still a solid entry in the series. It's a good Scream movie, but it could have been better. I'm hoping that Scream 7 ends this Sidney/Woodsboro saga, because though I'm in love with the series, it's growing stale. Let's start anew with a fresh storyline.

Kind of... pointless?
7 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This really didn't need to exist. It was like a live action/Broadway adaption of the animated movie... oh, wait... didn't they do that already?! *shudders in Emma Watson* If the live action movie didn't exist then this would have been more interesting. There's a certain been there done that feel to it. It's interspersed with scenes from the movie, which is kind of dumb and annoying. This TV special looks good when it comes to the sets and costumes, and is kinda fun to watch, but ultimately it's a waste of time. Also, the lip syncing is pretty bad in parts and you can tell it's an audio recording and not live. One of the main highlights is Shania Twain and her singing Beauty and the Beast as Mrs. Potts. This TV special is a "new" interpretation of the characters, with many of them race swapped. It feels a bit jarring to see Belle as one race one second, then another race the next between scenes. It kind of sticks out like a sore thumb, sorry to say. Disney just can't ever seem to get Belle right in these adaptions, with both Emma Watson and H. E. R. Failing miserably. The heart of this TV special was in the right place, but it's time to put Beauty and the Beast and its legacy to rest and make something else.

Warning: Spoilers
Ugh... as a gay man, I'm disappointed. I'm giving this a 4/10 for representation, and that's it. Billy Eichner's character is the worst possible gay man to lead this movie. He's so unlikeable, and I wanted to turn the movie off two minutes in! There is zero warmth to his character. All he does is preach, and the story is riddled with gay cliches and tropes, but ramped up 100%. It's like one long Family Guy episode spoofing gay dudes. It's embarrassing to think that this is what straight people will think all gay men are; vapid, annoying, preachy *holes. Cis gay white men are apparently the devil of gay culture (shocker). There are gay history lessons left and right. Like, why?? Literally every story beat goes back to being gay. Gay gay gay. Gay this and gay that. Gay. Oh, gay? Gay. Gay. Gay. Yes, gay. Someone should count the number of times the words gay and straight are used. If you're not flamboyant or annoying or don't know any Mariah Carey songs and not "gay acting" and instead "straight acting" you're boring, unless you're hot. If you're hot and ripped, you're an idiot. Like, come on! Billy is the most insecure gay man on the planet. His personality is horrible, mean spirited, cold and reminds me of Jeffrey Dahmer. The story sucks and isn't even funny and is completely judgemental. It's tragic that young gay teens will watch this and think it's inspirational. Oh, and the digs at Schitt's Creek... lol. He's trying so hard to be Dan Levy, but lacks his charisma and talent. Don't waste your money. It's so cringe. This movie deserved to bomb because it sucks! It could have been fun and iconic like Bridesmaids if it was in more competent and talented hands, bro. Oh, and the sex scenes suck.

Basic Matilda
31 December 2022
I'm not one to knock a child actor, but since her character's name is literally the movie and she has to carry the movie on her shoulders, it has to be said... there's nothing that stands out about her. That also goes for all the other actors. She's quite boring to watch, as they all are. The songs aren't very good. The movie is cute and inoffensive. The problem is that this movie is a musical, which it doesn't succeed at. The creative choices made are just as bad as the Witches remake. Overall, the movie is too long, tedious, boring and joyless. It's looks nice, and the sets are cute to look at. Oh well. Skip it.

Soap opera
7 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Gawd... the first episode in this series that I've fast forwarded through parts. Lookin more like the Young and the Restless now. Three episodes in and this season 6 is the worst EVER. No real conflict or storyline happening, just nonsense hookups and cheating and forced drama. Betty's character is useless and they should have killed her off seasons ago given that her arc now is searching for a violin and getting fat. Peggy's new job is a total yawnfest. All the new secondary characters are boring. Don gives dumb expressions and cheats and looks bored. What happened to Joan's story and her baby? Roger is whatever. Pete is whatever. I'll give this show a few more episodes and if this downfall continues I'll be fast forwarding all the other episodes just to see what happens. Very lazy storytelling.

Overlong, middling sequel
18 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So, nothing happens for the first half hour. Literally. It's like an episode of the Gilmore Girls or some CW family drama. Family moves. Awkward and homely looking daughter who doesn't fit in. Mia Rudolf plays the same character she did in the movie Sisters. Blah blah blah. It takes forever to get to the actual good stuff, plot and magic that we came to except from a sequel to Enchanted. By this point I didn't even want to watch the rest. The villain sucks. This movie is still much better than the atrocious Hocus Pocus 2 by a long shot, so it has that going for it. The music was nice and the legacy characters did good. Needed to trim some of the run time and cut some of the family drama at the beginning that went on for why too long and should have had a more interesting villain. Definitely disenchanted.

Mila Kunis just isn't it
18 November 2022
The most distracting aspect of the movie was the constant internal dialogue of the main character's thoughts which was just annoying and distracting. Mila's voice just doesn't suit this type of hard hitting story and it's subject matter. There's zero ambiance to it. Mila Kunis was never a good dramatic actress and that sentiment goes back to Oz the Great and Powerful which still undoubtedly haunts her career to this day. The movie is only as strong as it's lead character and Mila's is just meh. The story seemed intriguing enough. This isn't a bad movie, it's just not as engaging as it should be given it's story. The movie's script and direction fails. Not surprised this went to Netflix.
