Very Convincing Movie
13 August 2021
Altough I do spearfishing and so be familiar with the sea habitad and watched a lot of movies against culling sharks, I was not really convinced that they must be protected. The arguments are clearly expressed and the movie technique is very good. Thanks to people who made the good work.

Educating while entertaining
5 December 2020
I reviewed all the user reviews and found out that they are all written by angry men.. However this is a fine comedy and it must be critisized according to its cinematographic value which i found high.

A documentary but also has a story
21 November 2020
I am an amateur fisherman who has some experiences with the sea but not like Caleb's one of course. I think his being a Scotch has influenced his challenge with Bering. In the old times young people were obliged to confront nature in some way for proving their being a man. I found the movie realistic and surprised to see no one had reviewed yet. It is a documentary but has also a story of which a Hollywood writer could have written something great by adding other stories.

A dream made of real characters
16 March 2015
"Aziz" Character is very realistic according to me. All the other villagers are so, except the teacher who is from the Western part of Turkey. Use of the camera is excellent with very beautiful scenes of East Anatolia. However the teacher character is a bit forced/synthetic whatever you may call it. For example he speaks with a heavy Western Turkey accent all through the movie but starts to talk with a Zaza dialect of Kurdish during his first days in the school but his Turkish never changes which is a bit odd. Costumes are hundred percent right for the 60's. To sum up I deem it as a good Turkish movie made in recent times.

Frank Langella acting in his peak
25 April 2013
I could find no error in the story and that is unbelievable when I remember those top latest movies that I have watched in recent days of which they had at least a few.

What impresses me at most is that we can trace those warm family ties which we used to have once and now deteriorating.

The movie is easily watched; can assume the camera is well used and Frank Langella is acting marvelously.

I wonder if the reason I liked the movie too much is that I am 63 years old.

One more comment: It shows that you can make also make a good movie without a big budget and too many walking man.
