Renovation of the Heart/It's a Fixer Upper (2019)
Easy going, with a 'Hallmark' vibe
I loved that the lead actress was from 'Emma'. She's charming.
I found the house (that they have to fix up) colour palette and furnishings very pretty. The acting was solid across the board. The plot made sense. It was slow moving, so be in the mood for that. I'd have liked to see a little more chemistry between the two leads..but in the script they're already married (sorry for the spoiler), so it makes sense to not have that sizzling 'first kiss' type of vibe.
If you're after a typically predictable but enjoyable 'Hallmark' style romance, that's visually appealing in its cinematography, has an easy going, drama free script and leaves you feeling good at the end..you'll enjoy this film.
Éternité (2016)
Lingering, unrushed beauty
I adored this film. Such unhurried beauty..I felt my desire to slow into that unhurried pace of life. The cinematography was sumptuous, coupled with the director's desire to show the the beauty of 'mundane' activities, like collecting fresh eggs, or catching baby frogs. This film is the perfect Sunday afternoon film. Gentle, deep, meaningful and with a reverence for a mother's, wife's and friend's love. I bought it immediately after watching the rental.
