Freddy Got Fingered (2001)
Another long time title in my personal movie collection.
It's amazing, what you can learn about people just by watching a movie they created.
None the less, as with all movies ...they are intended to entertain. This movie does just that. It entertains and clearly comes across as not being real, but still funnier than I thought.
Family lies, family favoritism, family arguments, making a fool of yourself in public and just plain old dysfunction are the ingredients that surprisingly make this movie as funny as it is.
Why did I give this 9 out of 10 stars?
Me personally, ...reflecting back to the first sentence in this review, I found a few animal scenes in very poor taste, and the same with whipping a woman in a wheelchair. Those are my thoughts, and I'm not speaking for others.
Aside from that, I think it was a great idea for a comedy that brought out the humor in some things people see everyday (being around people that qualify as wildcards in life).
Would I recommend that others see this movie? Of coarse, but stay open minded to all kinds of humor.
Vampires (1998)
Another long time title in my personal movie collection.
If you like horror or the thrill of the supernatural, then this John Carpenter piece of work is perfect for your entertainment.
James Woods, Daniel Baldwin and a crew of other actors team up in an effort to battle 'VAMPIRES' (per the title).
This movie doesn't lack any creativity at all. In fact, it was put together in such a way that is easy to follow and seems realistic. (The goal of most movie makers)
I found the level of horror to be a perfect blend with the intention of the film. What I mean by that is, ...you probably won't have to worry about replacing your living room carpet because a friend or visitor couldn't stomach the gore. There are some bloody scenes, but only last seconds for each.
I have to hand it to the person who thought of what type of vehicles to use in this film. What a perfect fit!
Brilliant photography and camera angles are what makes this such a realistic and believable movie experience. Especially in the party scenes. An eye level shot as they answer the door, gives the impression of being there.
All in all, this is a fantastic movie for it's category and a recommended watch.
Miami Vice (1984)
Another long time title in my personal movie collection.
Yes, I have the box set. I'm glad I do.
I'll start out by saying this, ...for anyone who hasn't caught any episodes from this 1980's TV series, do yourself a favor and find a way to at least watch the pilot episode. (Some call it the pre-series movie.) I'll bet you'll want to see more episodes.
The cars, fashion statements, photography, scripts and music bring this together as an absolute winner.
Here's a little trivia knowledge.
Everyone knows Paul Micheal Glacier played Starsky, in the original Starsky and Hutch.
Everyone knows that the name Dick Wolf is related to many of today's TV shows.
Did you know, both of those men also have connections to the 1980's version of Miami Vice? It's true. I won't spoil it. Do the research for yourself.
This is a fantastic television series.
Blazing Saddles (1974)
Another long time title in my movie collection.
First of all, ...the entire cast of artists in this film are well known for other works we've seen them in. This is a fantastic cast, and 'YES', Mel Brooks himself performs in front of the camera lens in this one. Watch the movie for yourself and see which character or characters he plays.
Movies are made to entertain. This movie does exactly that. Every time I watch this film, I bust out laughing.
For me to repeat the one liners, punch lines and other catchy dialog, just wouldn't be fare to the first time viewers out there that haven't seen this movie yet.
I highly recommend seeing this movie.
Cobra (1986)
Another long time title in my movie collection.
Sylvester Stallone knocks this one out of the park in my opinion.
For viewers that like a lot of adventurous gun play between good and evil, ...I think this will do more than satisfy such tastes.
Stallone plays a one of a kind cop who's skills are used to go up against a nightmare in criminal activity. Through it all, we get to see some fantastic film making photography with more than enough action to please any viewer.
The cast of actors are some really skilled artists known really well in the movie business. 'This' cast ended up working perfectly together. So much so, it was realistic in following the story.
I highly recommend watching this movie.
Mad Max 2 (1981)
Couldn't be better.
This was one of the first titles in my movie collection, started way back in my youth. It is still in my movie collection as a senior citizen.
The costumes, vehicles and locations of the filming wrap up what I call, 'A Winning Product'.
To this day, when I watch this movie, it keeps my attention focused on the movie. It's an easy work to follow, unlike other movies that play with your head and leave gaps in the story. Road Warrior is well done and thought out really well. More than a pleasure to watch.
Then, there is the cast, lead by the lead role with Mel Gibson. What a perfect fit for Mel Gibson!
For anyone who hasn't yet seen this movie, I highly recommend you do.
Little Women (1994)
Exceptional attention to detail.
Like everyone, I watch movies for the entertainment. I also watch movies to sharpen my mind and observation skills I do this by deliberately looking for bloopers or filming mistakes.
I have to give praise where praise is due.
The people in charge of costumes, stage sets, props and other details, really outdid themselves. I watched closely for things that screamed 'Time frame mismatch', but I honestly couldn't find any. The attention to detail is absolutely incredible.
Thanks to the work of those people, this made for an extremely enjoyable movie to watch.
Very well done. I highly recommend watching this film.
Appleton (2015)
Wisconsin themed movies are an honor.
I love finding movies with Wisconsin themes. This one was a real treat to watch. I love the way they made Appleton appear to be a small town in a rural area. It gives the viewer the chance to use their imagination. That's what real entertainment is all about.
I love the fact that they mention other Wisconsin cities in the film, such as mentioning Green Bay.
Perfect cast. Nice actors. The actors used in this movie, by no means left me disappointed. It was a real pleasure watching the skills they have.
No shortage of guns here. I love that too.
Being a Wisconsinite, I can say this is exactly what our winters look like. The gentle falling snow, winter clothes, barns and more.
Beautifully done.
Baywatch: Mahalo Hawaii (1999)
Differences between the two locations.
I'm a big fan of the first series of Baywatch which has them in California. A great family rated source of television.
However, the later series which has them in Hawaii doesn't impress me at all. The cast and camera work is great. It's reading into it much further that disturbs my fondness.
This new series obviously had hands in it from a person who grew up in a very violent upbringing.
The new series is ruined by temper tantrums, people destroying property while acting out, insults, demonstrating abuse, mild profanities at times (Danny telling Shaun to kiss his ass), lifeguards unnecessarily muscling and strong arming their own coworkers and the constant bickering. REALLY, ...this is supposed to be BayWatch!
If I wanted to see any of this, I would tune into some sort of police drama, not Baywatch.
You had something exceptionally different in family entertainment, which was good ...but you ruined it in Hawaii with the emphasizing of behavior problems.
Under the Dome (2013)
I just learned about this series way too late.
I came across this series way too late.
I like watching things with a bit of a different twist on things. This definitely qualifies as such.
Interesting and fun to watch.
CSI: Miami (2002)
Awesome series, with some observations.
I'm a really big fan of this series and I even own the DVD's.
I have to take my hat off to the cast for providing what I consider top quality entertainment.
On the other hand, just in the sense of exercising observation. How many other people noticed that a great deal of the outdoor scenes involve wet pavement, as if they hose down the pavement before doing the camera shots. I'm not knocking it. It's just an observation. Kind of a clever thing to do to ad a different pizzazz to the shots.
I truly understand that a lot of the technology they use falls into the 'Sci-Fi' category and the duties they carry out are are on the unrealistic side, but hey; ...it's all about being entertained. That's exactly what this TV series does. 'AND' it does it extremely well.
Big thumbs up, on a series that was very well done.
Mysterious Island (2005)
As good as they get!
If you're like I am, and like movies that are very well put together with great costumes, stage sets, cast and real entertaining creativity ...I think you'll like this movie.
(In fact, I wish there were more movies like this.) This one is another title in my personal movie collection, and I'm glad I have it.
In all honesty, this film touches base with a little bit from several areas, such as some suspense, drama, a little thrill, and to me, some spots came across as having some sci-fi.
Wonderfully done, and a treat in difference from the other movies out there. Another great movie!
I highly recommend trying this one too.
In the Heat of the Night (1967)
Fantastic Film. MUST SEE!
I have this title in my personal movie collection, and don't regret it one bit.
The cast is a very well put together combination of people that bring you into a 'lifelike' feel while watching this film.
The local police chief, a man that is on edge over something that happened in his area, leans in the direction of getting the help of an out of town police officer.
A great story that is very easy to follow. You won't want to get out of your chair during this one. It's not a bang-bang shoot-em' up film, ...but a very good movie.
Oh, ...a message to other movie collectors out there who don't have this movie. CHECK THIS OUT! I highly recommend seeing this one, folks.
The Legend Trip (2006)
I'm impressed with this movie! I highly recommend it.
04-01-2013
I live in Wisconsin and just recently started buying movies that are made here.
I just received this DVD in the mail this week. As fast as I unwrapped it, I was watching it. I highly recommend this title to anyone who likes all the haunting type movies with blood and guts. TRY THIS ONE!
I'm not going to say anything to spoil the movie for viewers, but I'm more than proud to say as a Wisconsin native, I did recognize several of the filming area's from our tri-county area. I really liked this movie and highly recommend it to others who like these types of movies.
REALLY! This is a 'Must See' film. Movies are made to entertain and exercise your imagination, or in this case ...be a little scary or gory. That's exactly what this title does for me. I'm glad I bought it.
