Titanic II (2010)
Bleugh!!! DO NOT BOARD TITANIC 2!
What the actual flip did I just watch?! How much was the budget... $500? The graphics and overall footage shown of the CGI ship looked like a trainee art-student using Microsoft Paint went rogue! You can very obviously tell it was the permanently moored RMS Queen Mary used for the shots of the "Titanic 2" when in dock, which has been in Long Beach since 1967 were supposedly seeing a brand new liner making her maiden voyage yet it looks aged, rusty and overall a wreck before it even departed and they didn't even try and disguise it. And don't even get me started on the Greenland scenes assessing the ice caps situation where it's supposed to be way below freezing and they haven't even got their coats zipped up or wear gloves of any kind when collecting ice samples! Overall the poor filming locations/multiple obvious green screens/and use of the aging Queen Mary just took the attention away from what could have been a pretty epic film.
Final Voyage (1999)
First Class Ticket to the Port of GARBAGE!!
An absolute dreadful film from start to finish. The only thing really that stood the test of time was the plot as it was suspenseful and action packed but the sets, and production of the film were just diabolical. The Queen Mary at Long Beach was used as a set for the "Brittanic" but yet we saw scenes from two separate films that featured a ship spliced together to make us believe that it was all real. It wasn't even subtly done it was just dropped in there like we wouldn't notice but it stood out massively!! The acting was equally bad with no facial reactions and the cast looking like they didn't even want to be there! The extras looked like they were hired just because they knew how to scream during the hijack scenes- the guns the "armed baddies" had didn't even shoot any bullets but always hit their mark quickly followed by an overly exaggerated fall over a railing, or other equally higher structure. And don't even get me started on the scene at the beginning aboard the 747 the cockpit looked like a BROOM CLOSET'! Honestly save your time and watch a better movie!
Diana: A Tribute to the People's Princess (1998)
Ugh!
With all the praise being received for season four of The Crown nicknamed "The Diana Years", I thought I would seek out this made for television movie again after not seeing it for several years... Boy, do I wish I hadn't bothered!! It's just as dreadful as I remember from the first time I watched it. The acting is shocking. The hospital scene at the beginning, and meeting the princes for the first time stick out for being incredibly cringeworthy... The sets looked cheap and the stock footage of locations was just embarrassing. Don't bother wasting your time, you'll thank me!
Hotel Mumbai (2018)
GRIPPING from start to finish!!
A truly incredible story of heroism, strength and survival. Some of the scenes were particularly graphic and were quite hard to watch however I think that was necessary to give you a true feeling of what it must of felt like to be in The Taj that November night back in 2008. A very good recollection and a really good true story brought to life once more.
The Christmas Chronicles (2018)
NEW NO1 Christmas Film!
Heartwarming, funny, adventurous, and exciting, Kurt Russell is perfect as Santa Claus, the perfect movie for a dark chilly nights viewing in the lead up to Christmas.
Blessed Stranger: After Flight 111 (2000)
Strangers bound together by tragedy!
After the crash of Swissair Flight 111 in the Atlantic Ocean near St. Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada in September 1998, two strangers are bound together by the tragedy. Kate Nelligan plays Kate O Rourke the mother of one of the passengers on board and Hugh Thompson plays Elliott Barkhouse a local fisherman still traumatised by his failure to rescue anyone from the sea, following the crash he finds a sweater that belonged to Kate O Rourke's daughter and repairs it, she is then determined to found the person who had an item that was so close to her daughter. The film is really well written and covers all aspects of what it must truly be like to lose a loved one in these kind of circumstances. It covers loss, grief, love, strength & togetherness perfectly and towards the end some good is found between two people who are now bound together forever.
Neerja (2016)
Brilliance PERSONIFIED!
The movie was an amazing representation of a young woman that risked everything to protect her passengers and crew while aboard Pan Am Flight 73. It was truly wonderful to see Neerja Bhanot brought back to life in such a poignant and courageous manner. From the moment the movie starts to the moment it ends it gives you a true understanding of what the passengers and crew must have really felt like on the morning of September 5th 1986, the siege was quite hard to view but that part had to be played out for you as a viewer to completely understand what Neerja and her Pan Am colleagues risked to protect the passengers onboard. I am British and despite the movie being subtitled it didn't distract me whatsoever because of the sheer power of the acting and the way it played out for the duration of the film. I truly implore anyone than hasn't already seen the film to go and see it and I challenge you to leave not feeling a sense of sorrow because it's an impossible task! I left with tears in my eyes, the song that plays at the end "Jeete Hain Chal" finished it off beautifully. A truly excellent movie that told the story of a young woman and her crew who checked in for a flight to Frankfurt but changed the course of history forever.
Hostage Flight (1985)
Hostage/Hijack Situation
Trans Allied Flight 136 is a American domestic flight hijacked mid- flight by 4 middle eastern terrorists, Suspenseful through-out with them giving out demands to the powers that be. News coverage,re-fueling etc.It then leaves for LHR with the order that there leader must be released by the appropriate authorities by the time they land GMT, It then takes a nasty turn when they execute a male passenger followed by a female flight attendant.. The passengers grow increasingly frightened/terrified knowing that they must do something but what? The middle man then savagely beats and rapes a female passenger leading to the final showdown and the passengers fight back with the split second that is given to them when a female passenger breaks down after her husband is taken forward by one of the terrorists..A travelling police lieutenant shoots one of them and the victim of the beating/rape throws hot coffee in another ones face, The cockpit terrorist is tricked at the spyhole of the door and knocked out by two passengers. The 3 remaining terrorists are tied up and a heated discussion starts amongst the passengers on what to do regards justice for the two murdered people. There are two endings equally gruesome. Overall a real good watch. And I recommend viewing.
The Amityville Haunting (2011)
Worst movie I have ever seen!
It starts of with dialogue appearing on the screen reminding the viewer of the original "Amityville" story with the Ronald Defeo shootings and then the Lutz family moving in 1 year after that happened.. It then fast forwards 33 years with some frat-boys and sorority girls drinking and messing about trying to enter the house. They enter and after a few bumps and bangs something happens to them and then once again a family move in who are in a financial bind and have no alternative but to rent the house due to its low costings. In a camcorder style all the way through the movie with the teenage son playing the documentary maker..Lots of family arguments ensue. 2 deaths occur before there even settled in the house the real-tor and one of the moving guys.. They milk the "little girl" has an invisible friend tag line throughout the movie. From what I made out the father is a strict authoritarian and instills regime into the children maybe ex army/navy..Which only gets worse as did "George Lutz's" anger presumably the house's malevolent spirit is getting to him.. What I did find strange is the house seemed smaller in comparison to the 1979 Amityville Horror and the 2005 remake there was no mention of the lake or anything overall after lots of very wooden acting..And the entire family dying apart from the youngest girl it ends with the coroner reports appearing on the screen from each individual family member..It truly is a terrible movie and its about time the movie companies let the urban legend of 112 Ocean Drive rest!!
Child's Play (1988)
Excellent Jumpy Horror Movie!! Will make you check the toy-box before you go to bed!
The beginning of a cult classic was born when Child's Play was released.. Starting with a shootout some supernatural spells a casting and a exploding toy-shop instantly grabbing your attention. And so it begin's Andy an only child and obsessed with the Good Guy range of toys on his birthday not receiving the "GOOD GUY" doll the main toy in there range, a little disheartened his mother goes all out to get one in the end buying a knock-down priced one from a vagrant at the back of the department store where she works.. Lots of thrills, spills and chills a plenty including a rather gruesome first murder!!! Excellent movie and one of my favourites HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
