The Guilty (2021)
Jake Gyllenhaal shines like a star
It's always a pleasure seeing Jake performance, and this movie is no exception. I can image who wrote all these negative ratings; mostly from angry bitter Danish users. I haven't seen the original Movie, and probably never will, but I can imagen that it's good, but still not a reason to review bomb a movie.
Rim of the World (2019)
Netflix garbage
The title says it all. I'm just curious on how these people sell these portly written scripts to Netflix to begin with; the awful directing and acting is also another wonder. This was a new low for Netflix.
Another Life (2019)
It could've been so much more
With all the resources available to the creators, still they failed to utilise what they had in their disposal; decent actors, ok CGI, props and story. But some how with all that, it falls short - some parts are just so dum that makes you roll your eyes.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 4: Sanctuary (2019)
Hopefully this was a filler
As I stated in the title, I'm hoping this was a filler - even if it was not intended to be a filler. This episode was not in the same league as the first three, but far from that. The director, the writing was poor, along with acting and plot. In the first 10 seconds of the episode I knew the ending. I'm hoping it will get back on track, or I'm terminating my Disney Plus subscription; The Mandalorian is the only reason I'm subscribing.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Star Wars as it was meant to be.
Finally Disney does something good with this franchise. Concept arts and the cinematography is absolutely amazing. The feeling I get from watching each episode is like reliving my childhood each time I saw the originals - and more.
Star Trek Beyond (2016)
A few plot holes to consider
First of all I'm a Trekkie, and I love Star Trek beyond this movie. I'm not going to go deep into all of the plots holes that bothered me. but here are a few.
SPOILER ALERT.
So people ejected all over the planet, but magically found each other like if they were in the same shopping-mall. Perhaps that planet wasn't that big after all?
The key to ending the battle was a simple UHF signal carrying loud music? Come on, an advanced cybernetic technology that brought Enterprise down in a few minutes start blowing up by itself just by exposure to UHF signal? I wish they would have tried a bit harder. I can think many ways how they could have carried out their attack — perhaps having found some other artifact on the surface of the planet that disrupted the swarm.
The end game when three ships, including Krall's ship — that somehow managed to avoid the deadly effect of the Beastie Boys song — got into this big station/space city Yorktown. Now with all the technology available to the StarBase itself, couldn't they just teleported Krall outside the station? That old piece of junk U.S.S. Franklin managed to teleport the entire Enterprise crew, but they couldn't teleport Krall — or at least the artifact — out into space. So they had to open a huge airlock into space. Mind you a pressure release like that would have caused a significant damage to the structure of the StarBase(Yorktown), accelerating it in the opposite direction and creating a massive inertial force. I just can't buy the inertial dampener theory in that instance.
Beside these plot holes there is one more thing that bothered me the most. All of the CG sequences where they had alien solders walking around, the animation was done very poorly. For instance in some scenes, the movement of their feet was out of sync with the movement of the ground — kind of giving an illusion of Michael Jacksons moon-walking — that's really embarrassing. Further in some sequences they moved like robots, which they weren't — at least that wasn't my understanding.
But the movie in whole was good. I love the actors and their performances. What can I say, I love Star Trek even if it's bad.
I give it a 7 due to the animation issue I mentioned above.
Iron Man Three (2013)
Third thim's a fail
Having seen the first Iron Man movie, which was great and really entertaining, my expectations of the second was really high.
Then came the second Iron, which was basically a mediocre movie and totally disappointed me. I was really hoping the third one to come out good. But unfortunately it was a disappointment too.
There wasn't a good solid plot throughout the movie. Some characters were too intense, and without any background explanation of some of the characters, you'd just had to accept that they were evil by default. Which I don't like.
It reminded my of the "The Incredibles" where the main character Mr. Incredible's neglect of Buddy Pine transforms him into a super-villain. It's the same story here, with a bit more twist at the end.
Even the CG were mediocre. The Iron Man suit animations were not even in class with some good CG animation in some PC games. But at the end, Tony Stark's reference to the metaphoric cocoon was some how intriguing. Hopefully there will be good writers on the next sequels. And I don't mean the Avengers.
Royal Kill (2009)
Royal cheese
I'd like to start by saying "LOL".
Me and some of my friends had a lot of laughs watching this movie. Although it was not intended by the movie director I'm sure.
This is one of those movies I had to write a little review of. It's filled with cheesy lines and more cheesy scenes. I don't know why the original title was "Ninja's creed. I didn't see anything ninjaish in this movie. I really don't understand "wonderyears123456" who has written a good review. Either he/she is part of the cast/crew, or not in his/her right state of mind. I was going to say pothead but I stopped there. It should not be summarized as "Very different", but "Very cheesy". Although I must admit that the music was in fact very catchy (maybe the only good in this movie). The famous actors "Eric Roberts" and "Pat Morita" aka Mr.Miyagi as "wonderyears123456" described, are not so very famous in my book.
This movie should be nominated for the "cheesy movie award of the year" for poor writing, poor directing, poor acting and poor title.
If your looking for a cheesy movie to laugh at, then this is a good choice. Otherwise don't wast your time.
Johan Falk: GSI - Gruppen för särskilda insatser (2009)
Another desperate "try" from Sweden
There aren't many titles to reckon with when it comes to Swedish action/thriller genre. Remember the Hamilton disaster? It was suppose to be a movie, but instead it's tagged as a TV production at IMDb. Again the Swedish film industry tries and fails miserably. I'm not being mean by saying that, just realistic. There aren't many talented film makers to start with in Sweden. And those with talent are never around Swedish action/thriller productions.
This is just another typical cop-snitch story written poorly and directed with a terrible manner. Acting was good, but I couldn't say that about all the actors in these series of GSI movies. There are a few of them(don't wanna name them) that should NEVER be in front of a camera, or nowhere near a film-making-team. What I hated the most with GSI is that through out the whole set of them, you get the feeling that your watching a B-TV-series. The camera shot's all the angles stiffly, and you get a feeling that your watching a theatre play. The "action" scenes are also similar, and have no dynamic at all. I don't have to be an expert to know that capturing the action scenes badly will result in a disaster.
That being said, GSI is not a disaster, it could have been worse. As I understand many people "with low expectation" actually enjoy the GSI series and movies alike. And the film industry in Sweden probably makes a few bucks(kronor) out of them. But with these low expectations and poor directing there might never be born a-grate-action-movie-of-Sweden. I'll keep dreaming of that day to come.
Chloe (2009)
Simple drama.
I saw this movie accidentally at my friends house. I usually don't watch movies in this genre. Stories like unfaithful husband/wife drama really bores the hell out of me.
The reason I don't like these kind of movies is that most of them are so predictable.
After seeing almost 10 minutes of this movie I totally predicted the end. And when that happened, the rest of it got really boring. There was no exceptional camera work or music to write about.
This movie could be described as "simple" and nothing more. It's just one of those kind of movies you forget after a short while.
Avatar (2009)
Divine
First of all, I'm writing this mainly to thank all the people behind this motion picture. Especially the art department. You guys have made something that has touched people's minds and will be remembered as a milestone in cinema history for ever. I don't know if any of you will ever read this entry but, I hope you do. So I thank each of you for your effort and divine like skills. A special thank you goes to James Cameron. Thank you for this wonderful movie. You have immortalized your self with this picture and will be remembered like a pyramid in the history of motion picture by many.
I don't want to spoil anything in this movie. I can only say that I fell in love with a CG character (Neytiri) for the first time. It's odd, but true. I have never seen a CG characters out preform real ones :D. They were so well done that sometimes during the viewing, I refused to think that they were CG characters. I know that the voices of the actors played a big role, but without the magic of the 3D artists and animators, none of it would have been possible.
This movie will melt the heart of the most "stiff" and "hard-to-please" movie critics. If you love sci-fi, then it will totally blow your mind away.
I don't care if there will be a sequel to this movie or not. But I care, and hope that James Cameron won't sell this franchise like he did with Aliens. That would lead to disaster. How you would feel if someone like "Paul W.S. Anderson" came along and took a big dump on it? Just the thought of it makes me shiver.
Oh well, I could go on for ever, or even write a book of the feelings I got for this movie. Plain and short this is how me and my friend felt/thought when we walked out of the theater with a tingling sensation...."we're not worthy", "wow", "James Cameron is GOD", "Why am I feeling this way", "how is this possible", "how can I possibly feel love for a CG character".
Blood+ (2005)
My love for anime just got stronger.
I only write a review here when I see something I really like or really really hate. I had to write this and get it out of my mind. So here I am.
This is the best anime series I have seen so far. I saw it all in 2 days 50 episodes and must say I couldn't stop. The feeling I got from this anime series is undesirable. It's almost like you're happy that you saw it and sad that is over. I'm a great fan of other series like Bleach, Banner of the stars, Claymore and some more. But the story/plot of Blood+ is by far the best, not to mention the music, it's absolutely amazing. One can tell that there is hard work and a lot of feelings behind it all. I have never been interested in downloading anime soundtracks until now. What I liked most about Blood is that there are no filler episodes what so ever. Great story, and characters are as alive as you can get in a drawing. It made me see the characters as if they were real, and that's some accomplishment. The animation is good, but not the best I have seen so far. But it's decent and has some mixed CG sequences along the episodes. I'm looking forward for seeing more of Junichi Fujisaku work and hope that he makes more anime like this. So I like to thank all of the artists behind this wonderful work. Thank you for your hard work.
Starship Troopers 3: Marauder (2008)
The most utterly crappy Sci Fi movie in 2008
When I was about to watch this movie I already knew about the crappy critiques of this movie. I saw it with open mind and was hoping that most of these comments were exaggerated , because I really liked the first movie.
The second movie was a failure and many hoped that the third one would be made better. I most disappointed in Jolene Blalock appearance (also known from her role in Star Trek Enterprise episodes "T'Pol) in this crappy movie. I really liked her in Enterprise even though I'm not a Star Trek freak. But this will certainly leave a mark in her acting career.
When it comes to Scott Bakula, well he didn't do an outstanding performance either. His neither a Robert De Niro, nor Al Pachino. But his acting was OK in the first movie. Actually if it wasn't for him and Jolene Blalock I wouldn't have seen this movie.
The Special effects of this movie reminded me of early 3d game movie sequences, but worse. Even for a low budget movie the CG sucked tremendously. Actually when I saw the first CG sequence I had this terrible urge to turn of the movie, because it really really sucked. All the monsters/bugs looked fake, not even the spaceships or the environment looked acceptable.
The director, he ruined this franchise with the second movie, and then really took a huge dump on it with this one. It's a shame that people with no talent and no skills get to work with these kinds of movies and franchises. I mean we all know what happened to Alien VS Predator. Same story there too, but that was even worse. They totally destroyed two franchises with one blow.
My advice to you. If you haven't seen this movie already, don't waste your time. But if you do want to see it anyway, then you'll need a whole lot of patience. Try not to paying for it, else you'll regret every penny you wasted.
Rambo (2008)
Sly the main man.
I love Sylvester Stallone and his great. This movie is a great return of the hero John Rambo. The timing of this movie couldn't be better. Now the movie has delivered what everyone had expected and even more. Even the pickiest ones came out of the theater with a stupid smile on their faces.
Sly kicked ass as usual and his performance never came short. The others were OK too. The action scenes where great, and Rambo did the killings like the way he always does, but he was even more brutal on the enemies this time. This movie is so far the best action movie in 2008. Let's sees what the future brings. There are many good action movies on the way this year.
This movie is a must seen for all you Rambo lovers. God bless Rambo!:P
Star Wars: Revelations (2005)
It could have been so much more.
Wow, Cant say how much I'm disappointed with the shooting of this movie. I don't understand why they didn't at least shoot this video in 24fps to make it look more movie-like. Shooting this video with 33fps or what ever they used, has made it look like a cheap homemade video.
The actors are terrible and their dialogs are even worse. I don't understand, did these guys get permission from Lucas arts to make this video?
The CG in this video,,, well can't complain much, in contrast to the rest of the production, it's a master piece. I have seen more professional productions with less CG quality.
It's a shame to leave such a production in the handful of UBER amateurs. But then i guess if your connected you can do anything in Hollywood. The fans curiosity will make them watch it in the end. But don't expect anything and you will not be disappointed.
I give it five stars for the CG work. Good work guys.
300 (2006)
Thank you Hollywood,.... NOT!!
Before I saw this movie, I read a lot of comments about this it, and that the fact is that most of it is negative made me wanted to see this movie anyway to get my own opinion about it. Before I saw it I thought maybe some comment were too harsh or maybe not entirely accurate. But to my surprise, all of the trashing comments were very accurate. Every comment like trashy 3D/CG effects, poor directing, shitty script, racist propaganda, crappy fighting, well the list is long and you can find it all here about this movie. So I'm not going to repeat what everyone has said here, and instead direct this comment to the director of this movie. STICK TO MUSIC VIDEO MAKING PLEASE, and save everybody the wasted time, wasted money, anger, and most of all, making me feel compelled to waste "my time" to write this comment.
I don't understand how comments like "A masterpiece" or "An epic movie" could get so much good user ratings like "740 out of 1293 people found the following comment useful", I don't believe that a person in his right state of mind would give this movie 10 stars and call it a "Master piece".
I give this movie2 stars, and both of the stars goes to Gerard Butlers acting performance. My advice to you, despite all this, if you have the time to waste, watch this movie anyway (try not paying for it), and you will find out that all the trashing comments for this movie are true. My last words, hopefully after this flop Zack won't get another chance to ruin the day.
La vingt-cinquième heure (1967)
A movie to remember
I have seen this movie maybe a 100 times, never grow tired of it.I saw this movie the first time when i was 7 years old, and it has left a mark in my memories since then. Its an enchanting love story that brings the sun out in most people, even in the darkest times. I think that this is a "must see" movie and one of Anthony Quinn's best performance. It has inspired me in a good way and I hope it will do the same will do others. If I could meet any actor from the past, I would definitely choose Anthony Quinn. There will never be a like of him on the silver screens.
