The Fountain (2006)
Extreme elevation of film poetry
When I first saw "The Fountain" I was hounted by its delicate and rafined narative structure for weeks. It was few years a go and I avoided seeing it eversince because of the strong emotional effect it has caused within me. However, I saw it again on TV few days a go. It still haunts me. I recommend it to everyone who likes poetry, because "The Fountain" is poetry itself. The three story lines which the film contains bring the technique widely promoted by Manchevski and Tarantino fifteen years a go to a master's perfection. Hence, it is three masterpieces into one marvelous acomplishment. Sitting back and reviewing my fear of watching this film again after the first time, I find myself extremely silly. It is the emotional effect we oughta be after. So I'll get i and watch it again and again. The Soundrack is also a thrill, try and get it too.
Pred dozhdot (1994)
An Excellent Burst of Macedonian Talent Lead to Perfection
Before The Rain changed the structure of European film industry forever. This masterpiece remains a studybook for all young (and experienced too) directors all over the world. An efficient example how an artistic masterpiece can become a powerful political tool and a strong prophecy for a self destroying nation ( Quote: 'There is no reason fr shooting here Doc. - They'll find it. The war is an epidemy.) Of all the films I have seen in my life, as a fan of directors such as David Lynch and John Burman, I am ensured that this is the definite perfection in film art and industry so far. it is ridiculous to compare it to Tarantino's 'Pulp Fiction', as some do, hence the significance of Tarantino's film (which is a work of art for itself, also) is trivial, compared to the cultural, political, multidimensional reality significance of Manchevski's film. Bravo
Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003)
Not an average action film
A fantastic artistic piece with a notable harmony in editing, music and directing. I did not like "Desperados", but this film shows an enormous progress in Mariachi crew's work. The artists did their best and the storyline is exceptional. An outstanding performance by Johnny Deep brings a powerful moment to the film and his styling is something that has not been seen yet in film industry. I will not be surprised if "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" does not enter a nomination for this year's Academy Awards, but my content is that the Awards had never been given to cult movie emerges such as Pedro Almodovar, David Lynch, Julian Temple, nor Martin Scorsese.
Golemata voda (2004)
Unbelievable rise of the Macedonian cultural sensibility
The Great Water represent an absolute summary of the emotional values that Macedonian literature has given us for centuries. An outstanding performance and adaptation of the novel, originally written for children. The structure of the film, unintentionally follows the smooth fabric of Zhivko Chingo's structural approach in writing, and that is something that really amazes me. This is an unbelievable rise of the Macedoian cultural sensibility in means of presenting the potential through a wider view, in a western way, but yet so familiar and authentic. I think that all movie lovers, esp. those enjoying the films of Steven Spielberg, David Lynch and Wim Wenders will love this film, since the film line has similarities to these authors, but, again it is totally authentic.
