Poor Interpretation
25 January 2024
This seems to just be a vehicle to indulge Jessica Biel, I can only assume she had some dirt on someone and held them to ransom. But, as terrible as her acting is, the supporting compete just as well in the Dull Olympics.

Justin Timberlake's comically hammed-up performance offers some light relief in episode 4... by this point it was a matter of endurance, once you're this far through then you may as well stick it out.

The true story is incredible and removed from reality but in an intriguing way, this dramatisation makes it seem like a far-fetched, low budget daytime TV show.

In summary, slow moving and riddled with awful performances. If you are interested in the storyline then Love & Death with Elizabeth Olsen is far, far better.

Worst Episode So Far

I ended up skipping this episode halfway through. Boring and pointless, doesn't even make sense.

I love Grey's but this was like the regular writers all took a holiday at the same time.

Awful film, hasn't aged well
8 July 2021
Watched this with my 9 year old on Disney+.

Pretty dated in terms of the cinematography and technology (as expected). The plot was flimsy and not engaging.

Uncomfortable romance storyline, with an 11 year old trying to get with a 30+ year old woman. My daughter asked if they were boyfriend and girlfriend! Huge and horrific double standard which doesn't stand up today.

Some redeeming qualities...

Alexandra Daddario carried this entire plot, as much as this is a weak film, she should be congratulated for her strong performance. A believable woman of our time, quiet strength despite her self doubt. Loved her.

Gentle and unassuming

I really enjoyed this film, it feels real and doesn't give in to sensationalism. If you're looking for thrills and spills then this isn't it.

Poor acting, unbelievable script. Just so bad. The ending was just shockingly far fetched.

The stage makes the magic
8 January 2020
This does not translate well onto film. First half... didn't care what happened to anyone, wondered if this would be the first film I walked out of. Second half.... became more interested in the characters and the vague storyline. Things that I hated: Jennifer Hudson's weird beard effect. Jennifer Hudson crying through the whole film, sing the damn song and stop with the gurning! Ian McKellen lapping out of a bowl. Judi Dench singing. Love her, hate that someone said "sing it, Judi". The balloon ride! What. The. Hell. In summary, the stage gave it the magic, on film it's just weird and cringey.

2nd rate sequel

My 8 year old likes it. I felt it was a flat effort surfing on the success of the original.

Great for all ages, my 7 year old loves it and I'm more than happy to watch with her. Hope that Netflix makes more like this and Brainchild!

...so I guess it hits the mark for its target audience. For me, it was a bit here and there with a flimsy storyline. Nice animation.

Moving and wonderfully played out. There's only one scene I didn't like out of the whole film (dance dream state).
