Ignore negative reviewers, they dont understand Kaiju films
28 July 2020
The reviews on this page, for this movie are written by entitled children who are inconsistent and ignorant in there approach to watching and reviewing this film...

It is evident that the average film goer doesnt understand what makes a kaiju film... 2 hours of wanton destruction IS NOT IT!!

Watch any Showa era G film and you will see how not only are these negative reviews based off of lazy ignorance, but by people who consider CBMs as high art.

The human element has AlWAYS been apart of Godzilla movies.. from Invasion of Astro Monster, Godzilla 84, Shin Godzilla, etc ad nauseam!

So clearly a generation of younger film goers has no idea about any Godzilla movie... the same things they're complaining about for KoM they were arguing the opposite for Godzilla (2014).. take any 1 star review as a trash review written by an ignorant and entitled lazy film goer

Standing guard for the protection of humans....
26 January 2014
Victor Frankenstein's monster, living a life of hatred finds himself engulfed in an ancient war between gargoyles and demons.

Very much in vain with the Underworld films in its presentation and story, though some may argue that this film is clichéd, bland and weak in its plot. I found that this film while yes does have those detraction's is enjoyable if you have low expectations. do not expect to be be blown away by any sense of the means. The acting was decent and the actual characterization was extremely limited, where s most of the film is pure action. The effects were decent for the most part, but many viewers may find them lacking and rather poor. The cinematography of the film is excellent. The pacing of this film seems and feels rushed from the very get go, but is intended for the films overall pacing and plot. In conclusion this film is not the best, nor the worst but is good for what it is. A popcorn film with little exposition which sacrifices plot, characterization for action and effects.

A naturally creepy place
26 January 2014
A professional debunker of the paranormal finds that he may have bit off more than he can chew as he attempts to demystify the very real terror that exists in the room fabled room 1408, in the Dolphin Hotel.

Based on a story by master of horror Stephen King, this film is a wonderful yarn. Excellent pacing and a suspense filled story that builds with a steady pace, that only get more and more intense as the film plays it course. Cusak does a masterful job of portraying the skeptical and detached Mike Enslin, the main protagonist of the film, who slowly become terrorized as the very real haunting intensifies around him The directing and cinematography are handled brilliantly. This film in my opinion goes on to be one of King's better adaptations and one in which its principal actors carry the supernatural premise of this film to its shocking conclusion. Though not the pinnacle in haunted house films its is one of the better entries in the genre.

I respect them so much that I completely stay away from them....

Andy, a nerdy but good heart'ed man lets his secret slip that hes never done the deed. After meeting a single mother, chances are in his favor if he can overcome his own set of misfortunes and the less the savory advice from his friends.

Hilarious, crude and brash make this film one of the funniest comedies to come out in recent times. The chemistry between the principal character as well as the witty yet crass dialog make this adult orientated film a must see for any fan of crude humor. The film that put Seth Rogan on the map and the film that strengthened Steve Carell as a go to guy for comedic films. The direction is smart as is the pacing and humorous feel to this film. A must see for any fan of crass humor with a heart at its core. A film that many film goers and fans have seen and regarded in due respect as a fine comedic film. One of Carell's funniest and one in which gets better with multiple viewings. I highly suggest this film to anyone who likes to laugh, be it slightly low brow.

Seven Samurai to save us....
26 January 2014
A village of poor farmers becomes assailed by a group of merciless bandits, only to end up hiring a group of seven Ronin, samurai to protect them.

A classic film that has gone on to inspire another classic film, the Magnificent Seven. This film though aged in its presentation still holds up to the test of time with its compelling acting and story. The pacing though somewhat disjointed can be difficult to follow for first time viewers but eventually the compelling heart and tremendous acting of this film will win out. The plot is engaging, the acting is fantastic as is the authenticity of the film in which the time frame it takes place in. Kurosawa, proves why he is one of the most esteemed directors to ever grace a silver screen. Though this film was released in the mid 50's it is still to this day considered a must see for any fan of cinema, one in which this viewer highly recommends. The culture of feudal Japan is well represented and the chemistry between the seven principal characters carries the film as does there highly evolved and celebrated differences that Kurosawa so easily brings to the forefront of the film. Action, drama, and even a bit of comedy help make this film one of the finest to ever be made.

The Mummy (1999)

Keeper of the Dead...
26 January 2014
An archaeological expedition in the ancient city of Hamunaptra, unearths and awakens an ancient mummy and its curse.

A fun and entertaining thrill ride of a movie, with wonderful effects a decent story and pacing. Acting wise this film is sub-par but overly enjoyable if not taken too seriously. Overall this is a popular film with decent characterization, great effects and worthwhile action. The cinematography is decent but not overly the best, but it does add to the films nostalgic feel This film goes on to spawn two sequels and an spin off, but this is by far the best and most enjoyable of them all. Not really having aged in the past 15 years this film is def worth a view if you've never seen it. Basing it off the old Karloff film as an inspiration this film ushered in a resurgence of old monster myths. This film has an nostalgic feel to it as though it were filmed in the 30s or 40s which this reviewer believes was its intended notion. With a nice blend of action, suspense and humor, this film is one that must be viewed by any classic monster film fan, action film fans and fans of pure cinema.

Bond, James Bond
26 January 2014
British intelligence agent, James Bond investigates the disappearance of a fellow secret service agent in Jamaica. While there agent 007 discovers more than just the murder of a fellow agent but far more sinister implications.

The initial cinematic adventure of Ian Flemmings James Bond character and one in which is very good. Though aged, this film still holds up to many more contemporary films in its pacing, plot and overall characterization. Sean Connery, in the role that makes him a star does a fantastic job in his portrayal of the calm, cool and collected 007. The first of many James Bond films, this classic is still one of the better entries within the franchise. Introducing the staples such as the magnanimous villain, his vindictive and nefarious plot, the beautiful Bond girl and the iconic 007 theme. Dr. No is a wonderful opening entry into the series and a must see for any fans of the 007 legacy

enjoyable.... if your a adolescent girl
26 January 2014
A seemingly normal but shy teenage girl discovers that vampires exists and falls in love with one only to realize there is more at stake for her affection than she is aware of.

Horribly clichéd with terrible acting and a dull and senseless script. When one conveys emotion through the same facial expression throughout not only this film, but every single one to follow. This film while hugely popular has its niche audience in young adolescence girls. Much of this film is left to be desired, the effects seem mediocre as does most of the film, undeserved of the attention and mindless praise it gets. A different spin on the vampire mythos that detracts from the true definition of what they are supposed to be, having gone on to spawn several less then impressive sequels, i find that these films have its built in audience and largely is not impressive in its clichéd story, bad acting, horrible direction and overly cheesy dialog. If your under the age of 17 then this is indeed the film for you. For true lovers of vampire films id suggest a dozen others that not only stay true to the mythos of the vampire but do so in a more professional manner.

The Return to Vietnam
26 January 2014
Colonel James Braddock is an American officer who was a POW for 7 years in Vietnam. Braddock has returned to Vietnam with a purpose and a mission, to find and rescue interned American POW's which the Vietnamese government denies exists. Braddock will find the truth even if it costs him his freedom and his life.

A simply action film that has charm to it. Not the best acted or the best story I've ever seen, simplistic and perhaps clichéd in many aspects but its an enjoyable film. If your nostalgic about 80's films and action films with an simplistic story but a film that holds charm. The acting is sub par, the story clichéd, the direction semi mediocre, but where this film gets its charm is in Chuck Norris and the action itself. A good portion of this film attempts to imitate, Rambo: First Blood Part II, and even its producers have admitted this, but as i said their is a certain charm to this film that will grow on the viewer with repeated viewings. Though first time viewers may find this film cheesy, older generation film goers may watch with a glint of nostalgia and fin themselves enjoying the film.

You ever dance with the Devil on a pale moonlight?
26 January 2014
The Dark Knight of Gotham, the outlawed protector of Gotham city must defend it from the homicidal clownish prince of crime, The Joker.

One of the best of the Batman films but in my opinion not the best batman films. Dark and Gothic in its presentation. Its a very alluring film that many comic book fans argue as one of the greatest in its genre. Good acting, a gripping story with a decent pacing. This film like all other Tim Burton films has the same Gothic feeling as all of his films, The action is decent as is the iconic score by Danny Elfman. One can argue that this film has aged somewhat but it still hold and resonates a certain charm with first time viewers as well as repeated viewings. A wonderful first installment that would gradually slip into a downward spiral emulating the old Adam West Batman TV show from the 60's. A fantastic film that i cannot recommend enough as a staple in the comic book genre. The first Batman film is a wonderful opening entry into the Batman film franchise one in which does its creator Bob Kane and DC comics proudly.

This is bat country

An oddball journalist and his psychopathic lawyer travel to Las Vegas, with a car full of drugs, alcohol and the pursuit of the American Dream.

A psychedelic trip into the macabre, a chaotic spiral into madness. These terms perfectly describe Hunter S. Thompson's novel describing his drug fueled trip of the west. Depp does a perfect rendition of Thompson and truly is a marvel to watch in this film. In his rendition it is easy to see how Depp has become one of this generations finest actors. This film for the casual viewer may be difficult to follow and or watch, but to me personally is a fantastic film one in which does what it was intended to do, and that is to entertain and to darkly and at times humorously take the viewer on a chaotic ride. With a huge cult following and an eventual prequel that came out; Rum Diaries, this is a wonderful peek into the world of the not so normal and the drug fueled ride that is Hunter S. Thompson's life. The soundtrack is perfect for this film as it follows suit with the chaos that is viewed on the screen. I highly recommend this film to film buffs and lovers of dark comedies.

The Evil Dead (1981)

Necronomicon Ex Mortus
26 January 2014
Five friends head to an isolated cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly discover a book that releases evil demons that possess the living. Who, if anyone can survive the night or the evil dead?

A cult classic within the horror genre, this brutal, grotesque and raw film is a must see for any fans of the genre. A classic film that has inspired many other horror directors of the genre and gone on to inspire two sequels and a remake. The acting is not the best and in fact is a bit mediocre, though this film did make Bruce Campbell a star and one of Sam Raimi's favorite cast able actors. The pacing is wonderful, the camera work as well, the acting and dialog though can be considered cheesy in some aspects but it is still decent film. One must understand that this film though many consider a B-film was and in fact an extremely terrifying film for first time viewers. Some may consider it cheesy now compared to the effects ridden horror films of the present, but to this viewer, I personally find this to be an enjoyable horrifying film. The effects all practical add to the grotesque realism. Though while the film starts slow it eventually build up steam to an almost unbearable breaking point of horror. The original Evil Dead is a must see for anyone who considers themselves a true horror film aficionado. Though not for the faint of heart whatsoever.

What we do in life... echoes in eternity
26 January 2014
Maxiumus is a power Roman general within the Roman legion. After having been betrayed and his family murdered by the new Roman emperor, Maxiumus vows vengeance that will achieve by any cost, and must do so as a Roman gladiator.

One of the finest films of its generation and one in which made Russell Crowe a star. Brilliantly acted and directed with awe inspiring action sequences with weight behind them. The viewer will feel for Crowe's plight within this film, as the pacing and story are top notch. The set pieces as well as the wardrobe and mentality of the film are extremely Roman and feel authentic as anything real in this modern age. A film that was nominated and one in which will not only grip the viewer from beginning to end but resonate with the viewer for some time to come. The action sequence are authentic and very tense as is intended. The musical score is heroic and filled with epic grandeur that only further strengthen the film. Many consider this film an epic and one in which still to this day hold up to the test of time. This film as well was Oliver Reed's last film as he passed away during the filming process. Gladiator is an awe inspiring, swords and sandals film that hold back no punches in its action, its pacing or its storytelling. The plot is rich, the storytelling grand and overall one of the finest films to ever have been made within the genre

Oh thats an old story...
26 January 2014
Three film students travel into the woods of Burketsville, Maryland to document the legend of the Blair Witch only to never return, only there footage is discovered.

The film that contributed to and help revitalize the genre for found footage/ first person films. Now in that aspect the film was truly trend-setting. Its story though original failed in many aspects. The film does a decent job in building tension as does its pacing, but for the most part this film only comes off as slightly creepy. A lot of the potential of this film is lost in its three amateur actors who do little but bicker, argue and fight throughout the length of the film. What made this film so immensely popular when it first came out was in its marketing. A lot of film goers at the time felt as though this film was actual true footage, when in turn it was just a low grade horror film. Though a nod has to be given to this film as it did create a new genre within film, that went on to span such films as Cloverfield and Chronicle. All in all for a horror film it misses its mark in some aspects but in others it does very well, which is in its pacing and its tension, but ultimately falls short, mostly in its conclusion, which leaves much to be desired.

Who ya gonna call??
26 January 2014
Three unemployed parapsychologists set up a business in New York City as a unique ghost removal service.

A hilarious and ground breaking film that has not only stood the test of time but still resonates firmly with many viewers to this day. A classic comedy film with a bit of horror and action elements to it. Bill Murray and cast does a wonderful job portraying there characters. This film spawned a sequel and many fans clamor for another. The story is original, and the pacing follows suit, the dead pan and dry wit comedy of the film makes this film not only charming but a great comedy with an original concept. I highly recommend this film and one of my favorite films of all time. Crossing several different genres, from comedy, horror and action this film has a little bit of everything for everyone. A film that can be enjoyed by children to adults alike. This film will fill you with laughter as well as some instances will add to the tension of the supernatural story.

I'm just an analyst
26 January 2014
Jack Ryan a young but overtly intelligent CIA analyst uncovers a Russian plot to crash the U.S. economy through a series of conspiracies and a terrorist attack plot.

A thrilling movie with decent action, pacing and a story though not based on any Tom Clancy novel but with very close similarities to one. Chris Pine once again steps into another icon as he portrays Jack Ryan. Pine does an excellent job in his portrayal and is in this reviewers opinion a fantastic actor, though the show stealer is given a nod to Kenneth Branagh in his portrayal of Viktor Cherevin. Knightly does a decent job in her portrayal of Kathy Ryan, as does Costner in his portrayal of a very James Greer like character. Some may argue that this film is clichéd in almost every way and with some of its plot points i would agree, but if your not a fan of espionage socio-political suspense films, than this is truly not the film for you. There is action but not at the plots expense. Non Clancy fans will be introduced through this reboot to a Jack Ryan of modern times, and it will seem as an easy fit. Though being a Die Hard Clancy fan that I'am I found his introduction into the new world done well, Jack has been revamped with a harder edge than previous installments, with a tip of the hat to the same recourse's that made the character what he was in the original source material. Overall if the film were to stand on its own merits id say its a decent action suspense film, but with its roots seeped in the legacy and rich environment of Clancy's work id say this film is slightly better than the typical fare, though not the greatest Clancy based film. Overall a good film where its stronger points def outweigh some of its weaker elements.

You've been marked...
26 January 2014
When Jesse begins to experience strange and supernatural occurrences, he slowly is drawn into a world of black magic and demonic ritual. It is in this that he recognizes that he has been marked and it is only a matter of time before he is possessed and lost.

Now, I will state that iam not a fan of these films, but I have seen every single one of them, so my expectations were abysmally low for this film. In turn though i was quite surprised with this film, it is far more enjoyable than the others in the franchise. Granted once again the acting and script are beyond weak as is the pacing of the film, there are simply nothing but jump scares which has become synonymous with this franchise. You would think after four films they would have at least come up with a different formula for the pacing but this film is on par with all of the other entry's as far as how its pacing is considered. Overall i don't recommended this film or any of its previous installments unless you truly are either a fan of the series or a devout fan of any and all horror films.

Vyger.....
26 January 2014
When a space entity threatens to destroy Earth, Admiral Jame T. Kirk must return to the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise in order to intercept and destroy this entity before its too late.

The film that brought back the original crew and its actors for the motion picture that would eventually bring about the Star Trek film franchise. Some purists of Star Trek find this to be a rather dull entry into the series, but I find it to be a wonderful film and a great homage to Star Trek and its original crew. The story though fitting perfectly within the mythos of the original series, some have criticized as being slow and with very little action. The pacing though a bit slow builds in its registered characters brilliantly. I happen to be a fan of this film and while I understand its detraction's, overall find it to be an enjoyable film. The score by Jerry Goldsmith is fantastic and bring the film to another level. The effects for its age were top notch but may be considered aged during this high effects laden film age. Some nay argue that Shatner once again over acts but i find it to be a joy to see not only the old crew back together again, and its principal players playing off the chemistry which made the original series such a pleasure and joy. Star Trek The Motion Picture is a a pure cinematic joy and a must see for any fan of the sci-fi genre as well as Trek enthusiasts.

You're just a personal injury lawyer!!
26 January 2014
Jan Schlichtmann, a personal injury attorney with little to no scruples finds himself in a case where children have died of leukemia based on possible environmental waste issues. A case in which may cost him not only career but everything.

A fine court room drama based on real life issues. The acting is what truly makes this film a dramatic and gripping. Travolta does a exceedingly wonderful job portraying Jan Schlichtmann, as well as the all star ensemble cast in this film. The pacing though may be slow for some is filled with pure characterization and all is eventual in the building of this methodical plot. Not just for judicial court room drama enthusiasts but fans of human films with heart. Though some reflect that this film is unrealistic in its presentation of all the facts but for the sake of entertainment and the pacing of the film. The overall mood of this film is somber and delicate but ultimately this films true great points are in its characterization its story and its gripping dramatic heart. I highly recommend this film to any fans of pure cinematic drama and true story enthusiasts, one in which has its morals deeply rooted within the film.

Nico Toscani is a martial artist and ex CIA operative who served in Vietnam. Who now serving as a Chicago cop stumbles upon a drug ring run by a dangerous criminal with CIA ties that not only threatens the streets of Chicago but his very life as well.

Steven Segals first film and a film with decent action a semi clichéd story with stunted pacing. The film while not the best action film or best of Segal's film has some witty dialog and some decent moments with its action. The pacing is a bit off as one may get confused with where the story is trying to take us and how certain plot points are just plainly forgotten. Segal does what he does best which is to deliver his hard hitting action style with charm and bravado, but seemingly as a whole this film is a bit of a let down compared to other action films from the era. Though worth a watch for its action and to see Segal in one of his better films compared to his later entries. A decent but not perfect action film that has its high points with its action and its intensity but lacks in other important areas such as story, characterization and pacing but what can one expect from a Segal film to begin with.

Dirty Harry (1971)
7/10
You gotta ask yourself one question...
26 January 2014
Hard as nails San Francisco cop, Harry Callahan known as "Dirty Harry" by his fellow peers for his perchance at handling any dirty situation that comes his way. Along with Magnum Smith and Wesson, Harry must stop a serial psychopath known as The Scorpio Killer, whose viciousness is only matched by Harry's ruthlessness in this deadly game of cat and mouse.

The first in a series of films, in what quintessentially is the bread and butter of several action films to follow it. Eastwood is perfect in his representation of Harry and what is considered the standard bearer for all cop films and action heroes to come. Dark, gritty and raw in its very core, nothing about this film is soft or even considered politically correct in today's standards. The story is original for its time as well as the pacing of this film. The dialog is spectacular and the viewer will become engrossed in this film from its very opening minuets to its climactic conclusion. It's hard to not become engrossed or the very least fond of Eastwood's portrayal as he fits the role of the character perfectly, and with his signature catch phrase that has now etched its way into popular culture, Dirty Harry is a film that not only resonates but has held up to the test of time. A film that eventually will spawn 4 sequels, dark, moody and specially violent for its time, this film is a must see for any fans of pure cinema and one can't consider themselves a movie buff without viewing what is now considered a classic not only for the genre but in cinematic history.

26 January 2014
Six criminals with no connection to one another botch a jewel heist only to begin to question whether one of them is a police informant.

A cult classic with wonderful acting, wonderful pacing and a gripping story. Tarantino makes his big screen debut with this film one in which holds true to his eventual style. Violent, gritty and raw, with a blend of humor as well as a touch of drama. The humor of aspect and the chemistry between the character is part of the undeniable charm of this film. This film in this viewers opinions one of Tarantino's best films and matches the wit and charm of his later films. The music of this film follows suit with its intended emotions. Not specifically an art house film but with an art house feel to it. Wonderful acting by all its principal actors, the viewer will feel as though the walls are closing in around them, with each passing moment. Some detractors of the film may disagree with its glorified violence but it truly is a part of this film that doesn't detract from the overall plot or pacing of the film. Overall any fan of film noir or of a good crime/caper film will find themselves hard pressed to find one that delivers with the overall same feel and approach as this film

Nothing scary here
3 January 2014
A newlywed couple after moving into there suburban bliss, become increasingly terrified and haunted by the demonic presence within there home.

What has become known as the found footage genre, is a cheap and sometimes effective way of telling a story in a different light. Some classics of the genre include The Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield and Chronicle just to name a few. This film fails in every aspect to do anything but bore the viewer. Not scary in any way at least to this reviewer, granted the concept with in which this film is presented is unique but there is nothing about this film terrifying or even hair raising. Now there are some out there who find this film to be scary and to them I suggest that they must not truly have seen any other horror films. Cheap jump scares and thats about all you will find within this film. The acting is what i expect from amateurs, the direction lazy and the pacing while yes attempts to build tension does very little. The best point in this film is the very last 2 to 3 minutes, other than that there's not much else i can say about this film other than the fact that it has spawned 3 sequels, an upcoming spin off, and another sequel completely dumbfounds me.

Simply Incredible
3 January 2014
A family of super heroes, enjoying the quite suburban life must once again fight the world of villainy and crime within there world, this time to not just save there world, but there family.

In my opinion this is the best of the Pixar films and one of the best animated movies through Disney to be made in a very long time. Now I'm not an avid Disney or Pixar watcher but this film I did enjoy very much. Great blend of comedic action as well as a decent script that can appeal to adults as well as kids alike. With most animated films the actors can only do their job through a voice over and the principal actors in this film do an excellent job. Simple in its story and in its pacing anyone an follow this film, but what truly makes it stand above the rest is its scope and how easily it engrosses the viewer. By far this is one of the best Pixar films and one i can easily recommend to adults as there are several point brought up in this film that will easily engross and become relate able to its adult audiences.

I want you to hit me as hard as you can...
3 January 2014
A troubled insomniac looking for a way to change his mundane existence, meets a charismatic soap salesman. Together they form a new form of therapy which channels primal aggression, an underground fight club that evolves into something far more sinister.

A very well acted and expertly directed film. A decent into grimy madness is a great way to describe this raw, emotional slightly skewed film. An extremely dark movie and one in which Pitt and Norton show there true acting skills and range as professionals. A film in which is original in its presentation and in fact in its plot. Dark, Gritty, Dramatic and with a blend of tongue in cheek humor Fight Club is an excellent film, one in which has garnered a huge cult following since its release and not without warrant. First time viewers will feel as though they are spiraling into madness and chaos with each passing moment. Though some might consider this film a tad eccentric its in that revelation that you understand the true unique charm of this film. Fight Club is one of those films that the more you see it the more it will become attached to you, resonate with you and fully entertain you.
