Five Piece (2018)
Multiple personality disorder, dissociative identity disorder
Do not give up on this movie. It's slow with incredibly bad acting.
What it does do is show a relativly real version of someone with Multiple personality disorder or Dissociative identity disorder. It's not overly dramatic, not Holywood extreme melodramatic but does show the interchangeable personalities. The lead actor does a great job of this. This movie shows how friends notice the mood swings but not the character difference. It shows how it affects relationships and other people's lives. It shows the impact and consequences.
Definitely worth a watch for educational purposes or to get a grasp of understanding.
Noah (2014)
Not biblical
This is an incredible movie, beautiful production, effects and outstanding acting.
But it's not the story of Noah. It's been opened up for non religious people to enjoy the story. It was almost like watching Lord of the rings in some parts. The Watchers are great characters but where did that part of the story come from?
God is carefully reffered to as The Creator,
the barren land, the magic fingers, evolution, the army, men? The stowaway,
noah suddenly going mad and wanting to murder his own grandchildren!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really enjoyed the movie aside from it not being what I expected. Its almost not worth being called Noah.
Poor Things (2023)
Interesting magmatising, thought provoking
I only heard about this film though Oscar nominations and advertising for good films. Some compared the thrill and excitment to Saltburn...
This is nothing like Saltburn. I wouldn't watch it with my children or parents, however the sexual content is valid. The learning and intuelect are fascinating and involved. The acting is gorgeous. Close to 9 star, I will watch again. Fascinated beginning to end. I did not recognise Emma Stone at first, infact only mark ruffalo was slightly melodramatic but it worked with the film. The first half hour worked differently to the rest. I will find it hard to find its equal or anything similar.
Small comparison to Frankenstein and Alice in Wonderland.
Hoping for more unusual but compelling and thoughtful films.
...And Justice for All (1979)
Al Pacino at his best
I was blown away by this movie. Very underrated, I only found it by searching for courtroom dramas.
I really got involved with the characters and got emotionally invested. Al Pacino is so passionate about what is right and wrong with the law, it doesn't always fit with the courtroom and Pacino's portrale of his conflict is real.
It's not a comedy but does have comedic moments; the over acting in the helicopter scene was hilarious.
When I think of Al Pacino it's of his serious acting roles, he does them so well. But this movie shows he can do comedy and passionate emotions incredibly well. I teared up at one point. I loved the ending and the questioning law morals in this movie.
Turistas (2006)
It's not that bad
Despite the reviews and the low rating score, this is an OK movie. The acting is great, the production etc good. The story is good, believable even. I liked the beginning, wondering what would happen next. There's a beach party and even though there are lots of bikinis and a few naked scenes though the movie it isn't lude or over done in any way. There are a few gore scenes that made me gasp, it's not a slasher movie. I found it easy to watch aside from the gore moments, not too complicated or deep but intriguing and interesting. I never once wanted to turn it off like some other movies. I might even watch it again in a few years.
Swim (2021)
It's a scream at the TV- WHY!? kind of movie
Seems a watchable movie at first, better than your average TV movie.
The mum looks the same ages as the teenage kids. Suddenly a storm hits and flooding happens quickly. The girlfriend seemingly get attacked with loads of blood but ends up with a large human bite on her leg, not ripped skin.
Have a shot for every time:
The daughter gets told to do a task
The grandad tries to sacrifice himself
The mums mouth opens in 'shock'
So the shark Suddenly comes into the basement, but grandad uses a fishing rod and a tiny piece of fish to distract it.
They use the tiniest cupboard to block the door. Personally I would have opened the door because the shark wouldn't be able to swim or breathe!
Or get out of the water an electrocute it!
All though the people aren't getting electrocuted so maybe the science works different
Then the shark Suddenly appears outside when the fathers come to the rescue. One of which wants to swim to his daughter rather than stay still to avoid being eaten.
Honestly don't know if I laughed or groaned more during the movie.
Malignant (2021)
Entertaining but good
Ok at times I questioned the acting, storyline, whether it was a serious horror or horror comedy but all in all a very good film - a good horror overall.
The last 30 minutes or so were pushed to the extreme and I laughed lots but it is a good movie. A bit of questioning with consistency, a little bit predictable towards the end that doesn't quite tie in with the beginning (yes I will need to rewatch)
A generally good story, watch etc Atmosphere great, continubly watchable, memerizing. I really enjoyed it. Just in parts I wasn't sure if bits were supposed to be as comedic as they came across. I will definitely watch again.
Old (2021)
Potential
I like the idea of this story, but there's something not quite right about the acting and the writing. I generally love M. Night Shyamalan's films but this!?......
The man and wife shout at each other - "you live in the future ", " you live in the past" it's so forced. On the beach people are not communicating with each other. 3 kids age, an old lady dies, a scar heals in seconds, a tumour grows in minutes and still they cannot see the connection with time. The acting is so wooden and the actions and words do not seem realistic. They just shout, essentially Prisa. It gives me anxiety to watch it and this is my second go. Not sure why this was allowed to be released like this. Thank goodness for Nikki Amuka-Bird and Alex Wolf.
Manifest (2018)
We're all connected
I binge watched the entire series in one week and loved it.
I'm not going to lie, I rolled my eyes quite often at the corny cheese! It was almost stepford wives with the smiling, speeches and pats on the shoulders lol.
For me it was the intertwined stories and little mysterys that I enjoyed. Folding in a bit of history, folklore, science etc made it more interesting for me. A good group of base characters and a wider circle. It's a shame more passengers weren't included but I guess that would be a stretch.
I loved the whole story arc and I even liked the end. Just remember it's all connected.
Alive (2018)
Twist
I really enjoyed this film. The acting and production is good. It's not a horror (although that does depend on what you call a horror) in my opinion, maybe a psychological thriller, not much action.
Two patients and a doctor in a dirty hospital. They have no memory and the doctor isn't the kindest.
Not many clues to help you, so trying to figure things out as you watch is interesting. It gets creepier as it goes along and the ending is great in my opinion with a bit of a twist, which i didn't see coming.
I only came across this by scrolling. It deserves more recognition and a higher rating.
Ghost Box (2019)
Where's the end?
I actually made it through the whole hour, I've seen worse. The acting and production are better than a tv movie but obvious it's low budget. But what was the point? Where's the explanation and why did it end with no conclusion? It literally just stopped.
