The Next Three Days (2010)
A flick about real love that surpasses reason
Yes it's romantic, it shows one man's dogged determination and belief in his wife's innocence. But, after all, it's about real love that surpasses understanding, common sense, everything. Left a deep mark on my soul and became one of my favorite movies of all times. Saw it yesterday, but still thinking about it. I'm a Christian and I think that Christians must watch this movie all around the world to understand what love can do to person. It can change him, turn him upside down and make him someone he has never been before. Because it's not the journey that matters, not the goals that matter but who we become on this journey.
Ratatouille (2007)
Changed my eating habits
I am a father of three children aged 12, 10 and 8 and I am not a great fan of 3D movies. And when I came out of the cinema after Ratatouille, I said that it was just like any other Pixar animation movie. But guys, I must tell you that since watching this movie my affection for the French Cuisine has been growing continuously. The day before yesterday my wife and me even visited a French restaurant to enjoy in person what we saw on the screen. I think it changed my eating habits as well. I am still surprised by the effects this movie had me. Great work! Congratulations to everybody who participated in making this masterpiece!
Pitch Black (2000)
Alien-like movie but absolutely worth watching
I haven't really liked Vin Diesel before watching the Chronicles of Riddick as I am not enthusiastic about action heroes but yesterday when browsing the TV program it seemed to be worth watching and I was not disappointed at all. Superb action, outstanding photography and great actors - and tension, tension and tension for one and a half hours. Vin Diesel id undeniably the central figure of the movie and plays his part as it is written in the book for a runaway prisoner. Yes, it is similar to the Alien series but the climax of the movie is different: the hero here proves sooner that he is able to cope with the seemingly invincible mutant creatures that eases the tension and gives the audience a final relief and faith that all will come to a happy end after all.
Endless Love (1981)
Overwhlemed by emotions from my teenage years...
I was a teenager when I first saw the movie sometime around the middle of the 80's... And a few days ago a I heard Endless Love from Whitney Houston - it was totally overwhelming. The first thing that came to my mind were the first pictures of the movie and the FEELING <- all with capital letters because this movie is not about the highest level of film-making but it did show emotions in their fullness - and it could have been the goal and I think this very movie did reach its goal. Why am I saying this? Almost twenty years later I just heard the song, the main theme and the first thing I could visualize was the movie, the passion, the emotions everything the movie wanted to demonstrate - and I think it did, really did.
