Argylle (2024)
Had a great time watching!
I throughly enjoyed this movie! I'm a fan of the Kingsman movies (same director) so I was expecting the style of the film to be a bit ridiculous sometimes. There were twists I didn't see coming, the acting was good and I found it to be funny at times. I liked the aesthetic of the movie as well. I'm not sure why it was so negatively reviewed by critics. It's not a super serious movie and I liked the storyline which is about what I expect for this type of movie. I wasn't expecting an Oscar worthy movie and was expecting to be entertained which I was. Bryce Dallas Howard did a really good job and I loved the change of her look in the movie!
The Kardashians (2022)
So over Kim's inflated head
KUTWK was my number one guilty pleasure. It was hilarious at times and just overall entertaining. I've always loved Kim, but she is really becoming insufferable to watch. We get it Kim - you're a boss, you got it going on, you're a billionaire, you're a single mom killing it (despite having a team of help), people need to just get up off their behinds. This show has basically become an ad for Kim. I'm also tired of hearing Khloe go on about how she hates having to do the red carpet and all that. Then don't be on a tv show! I'm not with this whole rehabbing Tristan's image and I don't even want to see him on the show. Kourtney and Travis were cute at first but they're just too over the top and I'm tired of it now. Kendall and Kylie don't contribute much at all, all their scenes and storylines are bland. Kris was always my favorite because I think she's the funniest one and I think I enjoy her the most on this show also. KUTWK was so much better. I stopped watching this show after season 2.
Mafia Mamma (2023)
A lot of jokes fell flat and were cringey
Really disappointed in this movie. I was looking forward to it after seeing the trailer. So many of the jokes didn't hit the way they were clearly meant to and some moments were super cringey. I knew this was supposed to be a ridiculous comedy, but it's like they tried to do too much and tried too hard to be funny or something. The dramatic, over the top acting in some scenes that was supposed to be funny (I think?) actually gave me second hand embarrassment sometimes for the actors. The two people sitting next to me in the theater walked out halfway through lol. Don't waste your time or money on this one and wait for it to come out on a streaming service to watch if you want.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Not for me
I watched this after all the hype so maybe my expectations were too high, but this movie wasn't for me. I thought the acting was great and I did like the message of it, but it had too much going on without enough explanations and character development. It really is everything all at once and not in a good way. The concept of the multiverse and what was happening sometimes in scenes were not explained in a way to make everything conducive. I saw some reviews say the idea is kind of like the Matrix and I do agree a bit - full disclosure, I'm not a fan of the Matrix either. Maybe I just don't like these types of movies lol. I felt like I needed to be drunk or something to enjoy the ride to be honest.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Disappointing
I really did not enjoy this movie and I wanted to so bad. However, it was dragged on a little too long, characters were not fully developed and the parts that were supposed to be funny fell flat. I also thought the young asian girl (being asian myself and love seeing asian representation, I don't say this lightly) was just not skilled enough in acting yet to hold her own in this movie. Most of the scenes with her didn't feel realistic enough and reminded me that I was watching a movie rather then helping me get immersed in the story with believable acting. I think in time she would be a great actress. A lot of scenes where Margot Robbie would talk directly to the audience gave me Deadpool vibes, but did not come close to the humor. By the end, I was waiting for the movie to be over. DC movies continue to disappoint me.
Also, this has no impact on the actual movie, but can we talk about how Ewan McGregor and the actress who plays huntress met on another set and he basically left his wife of 20 years for her. Didn't sit well with me seeing them both in this movie, but that's just my own personal opinion. I personally avoid watching certain actors if I don't agree with their life choices, but of course that doesn't go for everyone.
