The White Lotus: Departures (2021)
Edgy...or just plain disgusting?
What a cra**y ending to an otherwise great show.
I think this last episode would not been possible to show a few years ago.
It's almost as if the writers wanted to give us one last gratuitous scene to make their point.
Sorry, but have to give this episode low marks for low brow humor. Your "taste" may vary of course.
Some of the ending was predictable but the "body" that went onto the plane in the first episode was definitely a twist ending!
The casting was all good but was disappointed to learn that most were not returning in the next season.
Overall this series is at least a 7 out of ten. Hopefully my low ranking for this episode doesn't bring it down below 7:)
Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (2020)
Maybe great as a play but not for screen
Wanted to like this but does not do well on film.
Too much dialog and not enough visual.
It's a Play folks...not a movie.
Could have been okay if more music was played by the band and singer.
Big Sky (2020)
FARGO without the Stars (Actors and rating)
If you can make it past the first 30 minutes or so, you will be rewarded with a FARGO like twist. Gave it only 6 stars due to the so so acting and writing. Anxious to see if it can sustain the twist and turns. The last few minutes will make you want to watch the next one.
The Human Centipede (First Sequence) (2009)
Have a few drinks before watching... but no food!
Twisted,sick,yes.
Funny? Definitely!
Reminds me of "Boxing Helena"
Premise is so far out that you can't help but laugh....but only if you've had a few glasses of wine, etc
Not for the sqeemish for sure.
Un homme et une femme (1966)
Stood up in Australia and watched alone
I was a Army Platoon Leader on leave from Vietnam in 1967. Met a nursing student while in Sydney and we had a great lustful filled 4 days . On my last day there we were to meet at this movie but she never showed up. I think the realization of us ever being together probably had something to do with it. Flew back to Vietnam the next day with great memories but a sad heart. This movie was one of the saddest moments for me at the time watching it alone half expecting her to show up any minute. The movie was okay but the soundtrack even better. That was over 50 years ago but still brings back those few special days. Another favorite is Hanover Street starring a very young Harrison Ford.
