I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020)
Waste of Time
What a self indulgent mess and waste of time. Awful horrible, perseverative exercise in narcissism I'm not ready to go I need to stretch my legs, long legs. Imagine these poor actors having to memorize this script! Skip it, it is awful and a total waste of time. Such a shame to use such excellent actors in a horrible script, and it's claustrophobic and not to mention, stupid. Makes no sense, and the script is abysmal. It looks like it was shot from a drone. What a dumb script, stupid concept, the best part was looking at the sheep. "I wonder what it must be like to be a sheep" was the best part, don't waste your time find something better to watch.
Every Secret Thing (2014)
What About The Forensics?!
As the line of the story evolves, it loses more and more credibility with the total lack of forensic investigations. The lack of realism and accuracy in terms of investigational and subsequent legal proceedings really takes away from the film, even though it takes place in the era of corded phones. You'd have to be totally clueless not to know that the initial guilt would've involved more critical examination than mutual finger pointing. Not to mention the absurd ending. At least we get to find out what happened to The Bad Seed after she grew up! Too long, too unrealistic so skip this barker!!
Rapture (2019)
So Awful!
Compared to the Mimi Rodgers dystopian film, this truly stank. Poor acting, crappy script and it went absolutely nowhere. Couldn't figure out its point or perspective, seems like it was made by a committee of goofballs. Who gives people money to make such horrific wastes of time? This "film" is emblematic of the schlock that gets funding and financing in lieu of genuine quality films. Editing appears to have been done by a shredder. Was this funded by some misguided evangelical group? NOBODY was evidently holy enough to escape the divine barbecue! Give me a break- even an awful recruitment film for Jeezus freaks!
I Am a Killer (2018)
I've Never Written a Review Before...
But as a forensic psychologist who has worked many years with offenders in max, I must say this is a highly insightful, accurate and well-balanced series. The series appears to accurately represent the spectrum of situations and personalities who populate corrections as the result of murder. Fairly presented without unnecessary sensationalism. The format of initially questioning inmates and then circling back four months later was excellent. The forensic psychologists included presented themselves professionally and credibly. Great job and kudos to those responsible for this series. Thank you!
Crazy Love (2007)
Turned My Stomach
So well done, capturing the above-ground kind of rationale that tries to exculpate horrible behavior as normalcy. This showcases the kind of hat trick that attempts to make apartheid and brutality acceptable, rationale behavior. Sadly, accepted in certain cultural circles but nonetheless is still unequivocal evil. This should be used to illustrate and teach how pathology and selfishness can be romanticized as mythic. Truly- love does not conquer all nor does it excuse the means to the end. It is stunning that this man was not identified as the sociopath that he is and permanently removed from society.
Holler (2020)
This was my life.
I lived this story in the Rustbelt of Ohio. Dad wouldn't pay for college because he didn't believe God wanted girls to be educated. Discovered Early Admissions to the local college but never knew I could've gone anywhere else. Worked for 18 years bartending and waiting tables to finally get my Ph. D. This movie is authentic.
Uncut Gems (2019)
Authentic Portrayal
Amazingly authentic portrayal of Jewish life complete with absence of values. So difficult to watch but reality on a daily basis. Vicious description of horrendous narcissism and disregard for everyone else .
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003)
Exquisite!
A sublime combination of wonders- realistic portrayal of the conditions, pecking order, and priorities of shipboard life in that era. Fabulously cast and portrayed.
Crazy, Not Insane (2020)
Entertainment Doesn't Often Equal Good Science
Practitioners like Dorothy Lewis have long been regarded as goofballs by fellow practitioners such as myself. Her bias alone makes her totally unsuitable for the forensic arena. She refuses to operate from the legal definition of sanity and instead purports to be able to identify innumerable individuals with multiple personality disorder, most of whom find themselves convicted of murder. Her "work" lacks any scientific rigor or process and is regarded as laughable by the vast majority of her colleagues. It is very sad that because of her cartoonish behavior, she has been given popular attention.
Beyond the Sea (2004)
Well Done, Kevin Spacey!
Wow- what a wonderfully nostalgic piece, that transcends the simple bio-pic. Addresses the complexities of the man and his life while providing an awesome mix of music and dance. Fabulous cast, especially Kevin Spacey who did a terrific job as actor/director and William Ullrich as the young Bobby.
Knock Knock (2015)
Money for Nothing!!
Who the hell gives money to a clown like this to make such jaw-dropping garbage?! This was astoundingly awful on every single level imaginable. And Keneau- were you paying off the world's stupidest bet to agree to be in this travesty?!
