Érase una vez... pero ya no (2022)
Ignore the bad reviews
This show is weird and quirky, yes. But if you can keep an open mind and ignore the bad reviews, it's really fun and light hearted. My husband hates musicals and rom-coms but loved this show! It's just so random and out there, and also has a diverse cast and great writing, the only bad thing is how short it is! Season 2 please!
Hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar (2022)
Cliche, but pretty scenery
Loved seeing all the different parts of Perú, and even visuals aside, the movie shows local Cusco culture (dance, music, etc) so that was amazing. The plot line itself is cliche, the main characters are extremely immature which made it hard to get through, and I wish they used an actress that better represents what Peruvian women look like. She is beautiful but it's unrealistic that That's what she'd look like in a real situation, a more diverse couple would've been good. They're a couple in real life though so there was indeed chemistry between them!
Funny Games (2007)
Unexpectedly underrated
Let me start off by saying I got really high about 2/3 of the movie in, so that may have warped by experience of it, HOWEVER... I didn't have high hopes I just wanted something entertaining, and this surpassed any and all my expectations.
There are so many long, true to real time, shots that are very Kubrick-y. Some people find this boring or slow (I do sometimes, depending on the film), but it works here.
The mise en scene is impressive, everything from the camera angles, character placement, the use of sound in some of the scenes, etc... I was truly in awe. The acting is the only thing that could improve, but only with a few of the characters.
At different times I found myself: laughing, feeling sad, being shocked, on the edge of my seat, and even a jump scare or two. One particular scene made me audibly gasp and really confused me, which I liked.
Overall I think this film is underrated and deserves more attention. I would dare call it a masterpiece. But then again, I should probably watch it again fully sober, lol.
Killing Eve (2018)
Draws you in immediately
Oh my god. Wow. Most shows take me about 3 episodes to get hooked on and actually look forward to the next episode. With Killing Eve, I was absolutely hooked from episode 1. It draws you in and you get really invested in it. The acting is flawless, and the fact that it takes place in different cities across Europe (and therefore different languages) keeps it interesting. Trust me, you will binge this.
