Interstellar (2014)

Science fiction/fantasy at its best
17 June 2015
Sorry they require ten lines for all reviews because my reviews would be much more succinct without that requirement.

If you enjoy science fiction with a somewhat complex bit of real science mixed liberally with fantasy and action and adventure and terrific special effects, this movie is for you.

If you do not enjoy a challenge in regards to the validity/invalidity of the science or do not have a basic grounding in modern astrophysics and words like astrophysics hurts your lone brain cell you might want to avoid this film.

Like so many great science fiction stories this one is an all or nothing story about the survival of humankind.

Some parts could have been shorter with out hurting the overall effect of the story.

My mate and I both found it immensely entertaining and inspirational.

Historically interesting and great fun

This excellent series is now available on Netflix. all episodes are available but I recommend watching the first four or so and then skipping to the 1985 season when Woody Harrelson joined the cast. The writing and performances seemed to become much better year after year until the series ended. All of the main characters received numerous awards for their performances between 1985 and 1992. This series introduced many actors to the viewing public for the first time. Te Danson, Shelley Long, Woody Harrelson, Rhea Perlman, Kelsey Grammar, Christy Alley (this was her first really successful venture) and many others. It is unfortunate that George Wendt and John Ratzenberger, never received Emmys for their outstanding work here.

First rate revision of an old classic

People who can not accept that Shakespeare and many other great writers often borrowed stories from an earlier time and brought them up to date will fuss and fume about how this movie did not adhere to the version of this classic fairy tale as they know and love it. But as far as I am concerned this version of the Snow White tale is much better than the original for teenagers and adults alike. In addition to that it has platinum standard special effects, ten star performances out of the actors, award winning screen writing and award winning direction and cinematography. Stills of some of the scenes like the lake setting could be captured and enlarged and used as a main painting in your living room. John Newton Howard wrote a marvelous soundtrack for this film as well. I did not see it in 3D so I cannot speak to the quality of that effort but I assure you the non-3D version has spectacularly good quality graphics. I am very comfortable awarding this movie ten stars and strongly encourage anyone who loves a great adventure story to take a chance and view it.
