The Responder: Episode #2.5 (2024)
I'm torn
I loved the show, and Martin Freeman is one of the best actors around, without him it would of been average. The torment he goes through each episode is captivating, hes in a constant balancing act between being mentally in tatters, and loving his daughter and doing anything he can for her.
I loved the ending with Casey and Marco, was perfect that she let him go as she knew she brings him down, and he has a genuine chance of escaping and being happy.
I'm just torn on him knocking at his dad's door at the end. I didn't know what to think about it. I was half expecting him to punch him and walk away, but instead he goes back to the person that probably started all his issues. Is that the point of the show? It's hard to escape? It just wasn't quite the ending I'd hoped for, although I suppose not every ending is a happy one.
Red Eye (2024)
What a shambles
From start to finish it was just awful. A man accused of killing someone in China is immediately flown back along with some work colleagues. Along the way left to walk through the airport uncuffed with 2 useless police officers and obviously escapes for a short period.
He's then allowed to get hammered on the return flight, while talking to his colleagues/witnesses. Someone from China's military somehow manages to poison his inflight meal, which gives another passenger a heart attack who he tries to save with CPR and a defib, after a load of double gin and tonics.
One of the strangest and nonsensical first episodes I've seen.
Fool Me Once (2024)
So many plot holes
It starts off alright, and we were looking forward to finding out what was going on but was a very poor rushed ending. You have to overlook ridiculous plot holes constantly and ridiculous things happening. Such as half way through a helicopter flying lesson she spots a car and decides to go on a helicopter chase. The lead police officer whos overweight, having seizures, and must be late 40s outrunning a guy who's about 30, and another guys who's 17. There's too many to talk about them all.
Michelle Keegan is 1 dimensional and monotone throughout.
I need to write another 40 characters on this review.
The Woman in the Wall (2023)
Exceptional
Not usually one to write reviews but felt I had to. It seems every negative review is because they didn't use exclusively Irish actors. To rate a show 1 star because you don't like the accent and isn't completely up to your liking is pretty petty. The overall rating for this is criminally low. Genuinely one of the best TV shows I've ever seen, if not the best.
The acting, the music, the overall feel, it's absolutely gripping. The performances from the lead actress and actor are 2 of the best I've ever seen.
Can't wait for episodes 5 and 6, just hope it has an ending worthy of the rest of the show.
Jack Ryan (2018)
Just an insane storyline
It doesn't make much sense right from the off. Ridiculous things happening constantly. With characters and police doing the most ridiculous and implausible things. You've got an injured terrorist 'running' down the road and they don't think to run after him?
Police are tracking terrorist, decide to stop for petrol and just take their time, yeah no rush, have abit of a flirt, stroll around, send a text message....
Was the same every episode multiple times. Made it as far as episode 4 and couldn't take it anymore.
The lead actor is also so unbelievable in the role, just doesn't fit the character at all in my opinion.
Hunter Killer (2018)
Single most ridiculous film ever made
I mean, it's abit of fun I guess and killed a couple of hours, but its utterly ridiculous minute after minute. There's too much to bother mentioning
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
An episode of 2 halfs
I thought the first 30-40 minutes were pretty epic (apart from tyrion finding Jamie and cersei, ridiculous) and for the first time this series I was actually interested again. The scene where the dragon opened its wings behind khaleesi was great visually. And right up until she was carried away I thought right here we go, GOT might claw something back from this series. THEN tyrion who's a prisoner for treason somehow decides singlehandedly who's going to be King? Jon's heritage and his history of being a great leader all forgotten instantly and the rabble of noblemen and women just go yeah alright Bran can do it. And we're expected to believe all the armies, all the people who followed Danny there and believed in John being a great man just go oh alright yeah, Danny's dead, Jon's banished and beans king.
