Zombio (1999)
Good and entertaining Brazilian zombie flick
Petter Baiestorf's Zombio is one of the best horror films made in Brazil (despite we don't have much of this around here). The gore is very graphic, obviously, you shouldn't expect some stunning gore FX but if you keep your expectations down and treat this movie like you should (as a Z-grade amateur horror film), you may have a lot of fun while watching this. Some hot babies in this, and yes, some pretty nice boobs. So if you want a hilarious, while very gory horror/comedy stuff, involving zombies, lunatics and even with a very funny cameo of the director of the movie, you might very much appreciate this.
P.S.: Sorry for my bad English... It's not my first language, so I'm doing a really effort to make a 10-line-review for this film.
The Alien Dead (1980)
Crappy, though some horror movie freaks may appreciate this
Yes, as you might be thinking, this movie sucks hard. However, it may paradoxically be a good choice for horror fans who just want to laugh hard at a so-bad-it's-good movie. I gave it 3 stars, but it could as well be an epic 9 star movie, if it just pay more attention to the pace. The film becomes a bore at some point, despite his very low runtime, is a hard film to sit through. And this is a mistake a crappy horror/comedy flick like this shouldn't do. The FX are utter crap, which actually is a good thing, since you can't avoid to be amused by the halloween masks that the production use as make up. Alien Dead is a funny movie, but it's drag too much and that's almost a unforgivable fault.
Scarface (1983)
Probably the best movie ever made
Scarface is just perfect. It's feature some incredible acting, a great 80's atmosphere and some of the greatest movie quotes all time. There are so much violence, also there are some De Palma's demonstration of talent. The director shows his attributes by moving his camera in a subversive way, using all the possibilities of every piece of frame. There are some incredible scenes, sequences and one of the best ending sequences ever. The character's personalities are well developed, in a way you can't avoid feel empathic about then. Nothing but a great, classic, genius and entertaining flick. Simply awesome and great. The best Pacino's work, no doubt.
Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)
Burn this
When I was watching this in theater, I just can't found a reason why I keeping watching this crap. That's just boring, headless and abusive. I can't even laugh of so much s**t. I gotta say, I like the franchise, at least, I like the three first movies, especially the first one, that featured great action and some horror intense scenes. So I have motives to believe that Resident Evil: Retribution would be a good movie. God, I was wrong, so wrong. Retribution is just one more aleatory action movie, that features a laughable acting and some horrible combat scenes. Shame on Paul W.S. Anderson. If you're not a fan of the franchise, avoid it. If you're a fan of the franchise, avoid it too. Just awful and ridiculous.
Survival of the Dead (2009)
So bad it's funny
That's not exactly a comedy flick. However, there are some scenes there are so ridiculous that is impossible not to laugh hard. OK, Romero clearly put some black humor (or should I say "bad humor"?) in this, but it doesn't work. Curiously, in the scenes that are supposed to be serious, you can't avoid to laugh. This is just stupid. Stuff happen for no reason at all, the screenplay clearly don't hate any sustenance and the movie gets boring before 30 minutes of projection. Survival of the Dead also feature some lame ass CGI that certainly ashamed the Asylum and SyFy producers. Sorry, Romero, but that was just dumb. Avoid it if you really have some self-esteem.
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Best horror movie ever
There's no much to say about this movie that wasn't said before. This is one of the hilarious, horrifying and goriest movies of all time. George A. Romero brought us a masterpiece of black humor and violence, also with a very interesting and relevant critic content. Dawn of the Dead isn't just a horror movie. Dawn... is an acid, pungent and veracious social critic about alienation, consumerism and lacks of communication. OK, there are some continuity errors and also the acting is not so good, but that's doesn't bother so much when you have such a genius screenplay and a brilliant direction like in Dawn of the Dead. A horror movie that have so much to say. Groundbreaking and unique!
