Over the Moon (2020)
Nope
Not even quarantine could make this entertaining. A hot mess of a movie. I gave it two stars for the number if times my kid laughed. Give me my time back.
Cobra Kai: Aftermath (2021)
Almost
I'm glad season 3 is back and in almost full swing. Everyone is still trying to recover from the effects of the karate war and Johnny has a couple of other battles to fight.
The removal of Aisha cheapens the show for me. She was a major character, a great symbol of diversity, and fierceness. The show is a lot of fun but to write her out so pathetically...we deserved more. She probably did too.
Fargo: Happy (2020)
Hold on to your seats, we are gaining speed
I love the characters, the actors, the story--it is everything Fargo. Chris Rock has impressed me in this role. I'm both looking forward and dreading the season finale.
My Octopus Teacher (2020)
All the feels
Stunning visuals and a touching story. A true gift to see a side of the world rarely seen
Recommend for the whole family.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Haunting and beautiful
Make no mistake, this is not a horror story. This was a gothic love story at it's finest and I loved every moment of it.
Lovecraft Country: Full Circle (2020)
I wanted to like this
This show was all over the place in the worst way. There was such strong silver linings and great actors that kept me around, but even those couldn't save a show with no true direction. Poor writing and blatant racism ("I want to kill white people" REALLY!?) sunk this for me. This episode was a huge disappointment in a line of disappointments.
Lovecraft Country: Rewind 1921 (2020)
The real horrors of men
From all the scifi we go back in history and witness the true horrors in the Tulsa riots. Superb acting, Montrose blew me away. I feel like the show is finally getting into it's grove with only one episode left!
Lovecraft Country: Jig-a-Bobo (2020)
This is the show I'm here for
This episode had everything I've been wanting from this show. Sometimes the show is all over the place, which as a viewer is so frustrating. but I keep sticking around hoping it will find it's pace. If it keeps up with episodes like this, episode 1 and the meet me in daegu I'll stick around.
Absurd Planet (2020)
Made for kids with sneaky adult jokes
This is great for a family watch. It's brief, interesting, and has jokes for the kiddos as well as the adults. This is not the normal planet watching show. Do not seek relaxation here. The word Absurd is in the title, take it as it is.
The World's Most Extraordinary Homes (2017)
It's neat to watch, a little repetitive
Some beautiful homes, some boring minimalist homes. I like the hosts because Piers is the knowledgeable architect and Carolyn (?) Comes at it from an everday homeowner perspective asking the questions of where do people hide their stuff, make tea, making sure a home is more than a pretty face. She is occasionally "a lot" but it balances well to the other host to me. I enjoy their perspectives.
The End of the F***ing World (2017)
A brilliant show
A story teller who knows when to stop is a gift. This show is brilliant, there is so much bitter sweet and dark humor that there is no way not to relate to someone. The range of acting for the leads is amazing. Happy sad it's over but happy sad I can watch it again.
I Am Not Okay with This (2020)
Ready for more
I wish the episodes were longer or the season or both. Well written, well acted, intriguing story, with an excellent cast.
Ash vs Evil Dead: Delusion (2016)
My favorite episode so far
I enjoy scares that make you think, this one was well written and well acted.
The Haunting of Hill House: The Bent-Neck Lady (2018)
This episode messed me up
Well written, heartbreaking and thoroughly terrifying.
Locke & Key: Dissection (2020)
Heavier episode
Let me state I've never read the graphic novels. I enjoy this show a lot even if there are things that don't quite make sense or characters actions that annoy me. I feel like it's still trying to gain it's momentum but it by far doesn't need the 1/10 stars. This episode held a lot for future plot changes. The drama was deep, the teenagers self absorbed (not unheard of), and the mom just completely lost. I'm still intrigued and look forward to more and to reading the graphic novels.
Luna Nera (2020)
Touch and go but a good story
This has a lot of promise still and I hope to see it grow further. The pace and focus of the story could use help sometimes. It didn't pick up proper and consistent until the last episode.
You (2018)
Like a train that's about to wreck but then dosen't
Season one stayed glued to the edge of being interesting and being a mess. Season two picked up a bit but by midway I feel like everyone found their voice, including the writers. The acting is strong, the twists got really twisted and it was enjoyable. Not one single good person in the show, just different levels of rotten.
Dracula (2020)
Take each episode individually
1 & 2 are placed in a different time period with intriguing takes from Bram Strokers Dracula I found it entertaining and creepy. 3 did feel like it jumped the theme. Placed in a different time period that could have been it's own season all together and more fleshed out so it didn't feel so forced. They could have put so much more into the story, and I wished they did. The acting was great, witty story telling, strong female to balance out Dracula. Worth the watch.
The Dragon Prince (2018)
Best show on Netflix
Our whole family watches it and loves it. The writing is excellent. The cast is diverse and inclusive without making a big deal about it. I love watching it with my daughter and she loves to pretend to be the strong women she sees portrayed in the show. I'm grateful for it and look forward to more.
Dead to Me (2019)
One of the best female led shows I've seen
The writing and the acting is top notch. Every episode is a new twist and it all ties together neatly. I hope there is more.
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
Needed to stick closer to the comic
There were ups and downs. Sometimes it was so slow I thought about turning it off but it was mildly entertaining. This did make me go read the comics and I found them so much better that I came back to rate the show lower.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Chapter Five: Dreams in a Witch House (2018)
Nightmares
A great terror sequence of nightmare after nightmare. I couldn't help but laugh at Zelda's worst nightmare. Dark humor and scares.
