The Batman (2022)
Overhyped
Wow. That was 3 hours I won't get back. Unfortunately this was probably the most boring Batman made. Robert Paterson did make a great Batman but bad Bruce Wayne. The story was all over the shop, cinematography was dark you could barley see the movie. It was stretched out almost unforgivably. Just when u thought you could leave it goes for another hour. I will say the riddler was brilliant and Colin Farell was unrecognizable. Batman was like a "crow" version of the character. Which is a fine direction but the movie could hold the depth it was going for.
Simply Irresistible (1999)
The perfect little gem
I'm sorry but I love this movie! I know it's gotten terrible reviews but it's this was not made to be an Oscar winning film. It's a quirky little romantic comedy with touches of magic and wonder. The acting is great and with the amazing Patricia Clarkson you will find yourself giggling the whole movie. Let's face it.. this is not a box office hit. But if you want a beautiful feel good movie to calm you on a Saturday afternoon while you drink your cup of tea.. look no further. It will be put into your "guilty pleasures" bank as soon as you finish it.
Midnight Mass (2021)
Ignore the angry reviews
This series is not for your typical shock horror, instant gratification fans. It asks you to think right from the start. Mike Flanagan does it again with telling an incredible story of faith, betrayal, redemption and centers it around an amazingly dark and scary premise. The bad reviews I can only imagine come from the current backlash from the christian community cause let's face it.. it has cult like aspects to faith. In saying that it's fiction. A journey that will take you to a different time and different place and make you feel like you have lived in Crockett island your whole life. Flanagan has truly written this for his horror fans. Leaving Easter eggs to find along the way. With constant nods to Stephen King, past projects like Hush and oculus.. this movie won't disappoint. I promise.
Beaches (2017)
Save your eyes the pain.
I didn't expect a lot. But this blew my low expectations to a new painful depth. This movie has no chemistry and is just lacking any connection to the audience and to each other. It was rushed, poorly acted and an embarrassment to the incredible work that went into the original. Bus Long was the only good thing about this movie and even she lacked the usual spark she puts into her performances. If you need something to do in a Saturday afternoon.. watch paint dry. A much more riveting activity.
Romeo + Juliet (1996)
Simply Amazing
I have no idea why people are giving this movie any less than a 10!
The stunning cinematography, acting, music and costumes all topped off by the beauty of Shakespeare's writing.
A modern movie with traditional language and a brilliant way to get the kids to love literature and history in one of the worlds greatest love stories.
Baz Luhrmann does not disappoint with this work of art. Laced with his signature style is by far my favorite of the red carpet trilogy.
Let's also not forget Leo's acting. A master of his craft even way back in the 90s.
Give this movie a go and it will not disappoint. You can thank me later!
Swept Away (2002)
Why the hate?
I don't understand why everyone hates this movie. I thought it was great. The cinematography alone was amazing. Madonna did a terrific job in portraying two different sides to her character. It's a typical Guy Richie film that's a little quirky but enjoyable!
