Dhamaal (2007)
Lazy slackers and conmen!
The plot involves four lazy slackers and a bunch of con-men which is appropriate as nearly every plot point and set piece is stolen from other movies. There is barely anything original in this whole mess. From Road trip to it's a mad mad world, nothing is off the table when it comes to plagerism and un-originality! Almost shot for shot set pieces are stolen. The actors are serviceable as they stumble through scenes lifted from better movies. It's almost shocking to see no other reviews point this out. Either they are ignorant to this or just don't care. Either way, it's a lazy slacker con from the get go, on screen and in real life.
It's a Gift (1934)
About as funny as those lame jokes you made in school in an attempt to make your friends laugh.
Working my way through 1001 movies to see before you die and It's a Gift was my next entry. Having been a huge fan of early comedy work I was looking forward to this. Not even ten minutes into the film I regret everything. There is virtually no plot and never ending lame jokes that are clearly trying to emulate what came before but never being anywhere near. The prattfalls of Laurel and Hardy, the stunts if Buster Keaton and the pure nonsense of The Marx Brothers. But it doesn't hit. It's like a cheap imitation.
Then there are the characters. The irritating kid who needs to shut up. The annoying wife who's voice will drive you insane, the repetition of words over and over as if hearing cumquat a million times is hilarious. I wanted to push my fingers into my eyes. Comedy is meant to make you laugh, not want to end it all.
Red Notice (2021)
The definition of "content"
If you would like to see a movie lead by three incredibly average actors who get overpaid to phone in performances in a mediocre and forgettable caper movie.. then this is the movie for you.
Dead End (2003)
The greatest comedy of all time
This is one of those movies where everything is so damn ridiculous and the characters all do the dumbest stuff possible in the situation that horror goes out the windows and it just becomes the greatest comedy of all time. 5/10 would get out of the car again.
Beneath (2013)
Fish thing did us a favour
Outstanding achievement making every single poorly acted character unlikeable. I was rooting for Mr Fish. He was the real hero. Shame he couldn't have got the job done in a more timely manner.
Night Zero (2018)
I hope the sound guy never works again
Going from ear popping shouting to barely audible conversations leaving you constantly fiddling with the volume.
About the only thing consistent is the damn smoke alarm low battery warning. Someone needs to change that thing
Hangman (2017)
Phoning it in for a paycheck - The Movie
Unremarkable serial killer movie with no redeeming features. It's like a bad impression of other movies.. just avoid it.
