Insidious: The Red Door (2023)
Why?!
The whole lead up to this was that FINALLY this movie would focus on the lipstick demon. The darth maul demon. Instead it was a poorly paced, poorly executed out of nowhere family drama slog. Teens written by ppl who seem to have never been ones or even talked to them. This didn't even live up to any of the other sequels and this was supposed to be THE ONE. It's NOT.
Sound: there is no crackling, hardly any zero to loud sounds just mid.
Scare factor: you could watch a ghost show on YouTube and be more scared. This was a HUGE letdown for me. Huge!
Specs, her ghost, etc? 15 seconds or so of screen time.
Glad I rented it on sale for $3. Even then, I feel ripped off.
Samaritan (2022)
I really loved this!
Has a great twist! Great story! Sky's acting was as good as ever. The only issue I have is a few parts of choreography/editing were way off. Other than that, this was great and doesn't deserve such a low overall score!
It had a twist that is better than most I've seen in many movies. We watched it and both predicted different outcomes and I was fooled completely which is grest to have in a movie these days and even guessing it correctly is fun I was told.
Choreography (punches from far away obviously not connecting) was my only gripe. Deserves a much higher score. I would recommend this to fans of Sly movies, hero movies, even dramatic movies.
Is this the greatest thing I've ever watched? No. But doesn't deserve these 1/10 reviews. It was just a solid, fun movie that can be enjoyed alone or by the whole family.
Prey (2022)
I don't get what people liked about this?
I tried really hard as a Predator fan to love every movie. I've always found an excuse. But much like the last one and the two "vs aliens" ones and now this, I'm done. I'll consider this like terminator 1 & 2, they should've stopped there. Same with Predator 1&2.
My Review:
Barely tolerable. It took 3 sittings to watch this. I don't know what other people are thinking when they say it's as good as the original. It's just a terribly made, yet well shot I'll admit, woke film. They stretched the reality too far to get The Message into the story.
I like a lot of Sarah Connor and Ellen Ripley types of characters. Many. But they need to be believable within the confines of the written universe they are in. Those women were amazing because they overcame insane things and didn't have time for woke points.
I do not recommend this movie. I won't say specific scenes but just check the CGI/VFX even. The best part will make you laugh.
PS: think about how she figured out Predator tech and was able to randomly place that helmet at an angle that would EXACTLY target it's head. They took away my suspension of disbelief so many times in this movie.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
I gave it a 3 only for the great VFX
The story was childish. Below Raimi's capability. I think Disney hamstrung him with all the clearly forced wokeness and basically making Wanda so OP that it basically made him, the main character, look like a wuss. Plus...not being the Sorcerer Supreme? Insane.
No wonder Disney is losing so much stock value. Between this, Star Wars, and lightyear they just keep pushing out quantity over quality.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Amazing!
All I'll say is they pulled it off! Pandering to fans works when done very, very well! Everyone in the theater applauded at the end.
They really brought back that feel of the original in a relatively fresh way without taking the focus off of what we are all there to see: awesome dogfights. Tip: see it in IMAX!
The Ghost Town Terror (2022)
Don't Waste Your Time
There are so many good paranormal shows out there on many networks and just by regular people on YT...this is not one of them.
This show had 2 good episodes, but feels very scripted. Also, when they add a "medium," it all goes to h*ll so to speak. She basically takes over, the supposed leader is a very weak appearing beta, and it's all over the place.
The last 2 episodes just really showed me one the place isn't haunted, it's a place to make money off paranormal tourists and the show got to exploit that....it was so silly at the end with the picture thing and the "exorcism."
I promise on Discovery+ you can find at least 20 cancelled and new paranormal shows that at least try to be realistic. Let alone the other competitors that are very legit.
This seems like something they should force prisoners in Guantanamo Bay to watch...because it's truly tortuous to watch this...I don't know why I watched them all. Hopefully you read this and don't waste 7 hours of your life.
Rammstein: Paris (2017)
Feast for the Eyes & Ears!
This is amazing and it's great that it can be watched so easily on certain streaming platforms. All I know is it looks great, sounds great, especially in 4K, and is incredibly well directed with all you'd expect from a Rammstein concert.
Only thing missing is being there in person, as I've only been to one of their shows and almost got my eyebrows singed off, lol.
Everything's Gonna Be All White (2022)
Wow
Pure racism and 100% division inducing. Just absolute trash. It's hard to believe anyone would green light something like this. No professional reviewers even want to touch this atrocity.
Other Space (2015)
Wow! Great show!
I'm sad that I just now as watching it in 2021. Thankfully the DUST channel shows marathons. I really enjoy the campy humor mixed with scifi. Amazing to see "the AT&T girl@ in this role lol. Looks like a lot of people got a jump start in this show. I wish they'd made more seasons, but it looks like yahoo's doomed streaming service
I know this isn't the type of show for everyone, but I love it . Reminds me a bit of Lexx.
Deadpool 2 (2018)
This is a MUST SEE TWICE Movie!
DeadPool 2 is such a well made movie. I'll sneak in and see it again. Idk why they'd sandwich it between Avengers and Star Wars, hopefully it makes enough money for a third one. Can't explain the negative reviews, but in a world filled with easily offended, I can see how this could offend....because it is intended to and most know that walking in.
There were some parts that I saw some girls in their 20's crying, even us guys were almost sweating through our eyes lol. Then hilarious. Then deep. Then sad again. But always through DeadPool's insane perspective. First movie in awhile I've wanted to see twice. Definitely a Day One Blu-ray purchase.
