Altered Carbon (2018)
Gone too soon
Just finished watching both seasons. Absolutely loved it. Do you know if show is good if it can make it tear up and get misty eyed. Plus I really enjoyed the scripting, the twists and turns of the plot, the character development and the casting.
I just thoroughly enjoyed this. Really, really disappointed it did not get renewed for third season. Boo Netflix.
French Postcards (1979)
One of my nostalgic faves!
Not so much a review as a heartfelt comment. I was 19 when this came out. After watching this I wanted to be an exchange student so bad!! But alas, never made it happen. I enjoy all the pop references of the time and the music. The actors at the time were also just starting out and I've enjoyed following some of their careers and how they have developed over the years. Anyhow, this is a sweet, warm comfort movie for me and when I watch it it brings such good memories to my mind.
Tales of the City (2019)
Enjoyable
I thought this production was done well and was really poignant, although at times the acting was a bit contrived. However, speaking as one who was born and raised in The City, I found this to be very "San Franciscan"... the gay, the straight and the in between. I found myself getting nostalgic and teary eyed, especially with the night scenes from the roof showing North Beach....I could just feel and smell that night air. All in all, enjoyed it.
Tomb Raider (2018)
I liked this version better.
Personally I liked this version of Tomb Raider better than the Angelina Jolie version. I think Alicia Vikander fits the role well and is far more physically adept and therefore believable to me. I don't play video games, so I cannot compare to the game version. But it was fun and entertaining. I'd watch it again, and I'd watch sequels.
Iron Fist (2017)
A bit sophomoric
It's entertaining but pretty sophomoric, especially in comparison to its Marvel counterparts such as Jessica Jones, Daredevil and The Punisher. Had me fast forwarding a lot.
