The Maze (2010)
Alright acting...Terrible death scenes
The movie over all wasn't that bad. The acting was okay, the plot was alright I guess and, the filming was decent. The only problem I had was the death scenes were pretty terrible...not entertaining or thought out very well. I guess I could add the film wasn't very original...I feel like i've seen several "trapped in a corn maze" type movies.
The film isn't very scary, I don't think I jumped at all throughout the whole movie. It's also pretty predictable so there's nothing that surprised me during or at the end of the film. The music didn't help the film either. I thought it actually made the scenes less scary with it.
As for the killer in the film. I didn't find him or his weapon of choice very gruesome or freighting. To say the least, as is, the film was watchable and semi entertaining but, there was a lot of room where it could have been improved. I probably wouldn't recommend this film to anyone looking for a late night scare.
Freakshow (2007)
Terrible...Terrible...TERRIBLE
I'm not sure where I should start with this movie. I mean, nothing even happens until the last five minute. Why is this movie banned in 43 countries??
Nothing even happened during the movie...it was probably the most boring movie i've ever sat through. I was hoping throughout the film that if I lasted five more minutes something would happen...nope!
The cover of the movie caught my attention with the "banned in 43 countries" so I thought it must be a hostel type movie, boy was I wrong. The only reason it should be banned is because it's so pointless. the storyline is garbage, there's no point to it. I get that it's supposed to be gory but, the gore is in the last scene.
I'll never recommend this film to anyone...ever! Don't be fooled by the "banned in 43 countries" crap on the cover. Total waste of time!
À l'intérieur (2007)
Makes no sense at all!!
This movie is anything but scary!! The only thing this movie does is make you feel sick with all the blood and gore and, irritate the heck out of you because of the stupidity of the characters.
I can say the movie kept me on edge just because of the grossness. The movie is basically like finding Nemo...just take out the fish and add a gap toothed crazed killer that likes to smoke cigarettes at the oddest times.
I'm not even sure if the storyline was fully explained...I was left with many questions after the movie was over. There's so many opportunities for the woman to escape and after awhile it gets very irritating...oh and lets not forget the realistic fetus CG that is not even necessary but, also wreaks the suspense.
And one more thing...what's with the zombie?! Can someone please explain? All this movie did was leave me in awe with all the holes throughout the storyline.
Mandrake (2010)
Pretty good...but not scary
Mandrake is about an expedition group funded by a very rich guy named Henry to retrieve a dagger...little do they know...a great evil lurks in the jungle!!
The film was surprisingly good...the acting was decent...CG was bearable and the storyline was original. It isn't your typical syfy for those reasons I'd say.
Although it was an above average syfy type movie...I found it not the least bit scary...maybe one or two parts during the film stood out for "frightening" but, other then it was somewhat boring.
The movie was also very predictable. What you think would happen...happens. So at times it would become hard to watch and hard to get into the movie.
All in all, it was not a total bust because the monster was original and the acting was pretty good. But other then that it's your typical syfy predictable not scary film.
Small Town Folk (2007)
Grockleton Garbage
This movie was one of the worst I have ever seen. The acting is bad, storyline is terrible, I nearly fell asleep several times watching this boring movie. Nothing scary about it besides the blue screen used throughout the movie. Don't waste your time with this movie. The cover may look enticing, but don't be fooled. I would go into detail about the storyline but this movie has wasted enough of my time...the only comment my friend had to say after watching it with me was "I actually feel stupider watching that movie."
After all that being said, the movie was a total waste of a movie night. I love horror movies and my favorites are the titles nobody has heard about. This movie obviously fell into that category, the cover art is actually not bad and gives off the feeling of a potential winner. After watching 5 minutes of it I knew it was going to be bad. Throughout the movie it switches from the blue screen to footage so, needless to say it gets very irritating. So please don't be like me and be fooled by the cover art of this film.
