Thirteen (2003)
Excellent acting
I thought this movie was really good. It shows what a lot of girls go through when growing up, can't say I've been there but whatever. It shows one girl, who is abit of loser, trying to be "cool". She meets Evie and all of sudden fits in. At the beginning of the film, when Tracy was trying to befriend Evie, I thought everything was coming abit too easy for Tracy. She makes friends really quickly with Evie, she steals that womans purse way too easy, and as soon as she threw out her old clothes she magically got new ones about 2 minutes later. The acting is superb and I can't believe that Reed and Wood are only 16 and 17. They both look about 19/20. They play Thirteen year olds in the film though, obviously. You don't learn much about Reed character (Evie) but I don't think the audience are supposed to, and you never quite know if she's telling the truth when talking about her background. Wood (Tracy) does a brilliant job and I really believe that she is going through all that pain, especially at the end when her mother Mel (played by Holly Hunter) is trying to hold her and comfort her. The thing that stands out the most for me is the acting. It is brilliant. And the two girls (who are so young but so talented) really do make the viewer believe in the story and characters. I would recommend this to everyone, especially teenagers. 9/10
American Gothic (1995)
This is one of the best shows I have ever seen ...
I was 8 years old when this was made ... could have been shown later as I live in the UK but never the less I was about 8 or 9. I remember watching the first ever episode ... a family birthday party I think it was and then the chant, "Someone's at the door" ... As soon as (I think her name was) Merlyn said those lines I knew this was going to be one hell of a show. I thought this was the best TV show I had ever seen (I was only 8 at the time) and still do to this day. This was brilliant. the acting was superb and the story line was, at times, disturbing, beautiful, engrossing etc etc. American gothic is fantastic. I remembered about it a couple of days ago and thought I should come on here and pay my respects to it. I dont ever remember watching the last episodes... Maybe it was cancelled here too. I've been looking for it on DVD but can't find it. Has it been released on DVD yet? If it hasn't then it should be 'cause it would make a lot of money!
The Wizard of Oz (1939)
Judy Garland is fantastic!
This movie is one of the best musicals in the world. I think it is one of the only films from the 30's that children will watch! It is so brilliant. Everyone in this film is excellent but who can beat the sensational Judy Garland? come on ... she is the best actress I have ever seen! She can do it all. sing, check! dance, check! act, check! sense of humour, check! clever, check! Nobody can beat Judy. She is brilliant! I wish she was still around today and I wish that there were actors and actress' more like ones back then. I wish we had a Fred of today! and I wish we had a Judy of today! but it's not gonna happen! Love ya Joots.
A Star Is Born (1954)
Excellent film
This film is absolutely terrific. I find it quite strange though how so much of the film is based on her real life troubles, even if in the film, she's isn't the one with the problems. One thing I don't like is the still scenes. I find these very boring and don't understand the point of them? but other than that it's classic! I love Judy Garland and every film I have seen her in, The Wizard of OZ, Meet Me in St Louis, Easter Parade and Now a star is born is fantastic. I must say though that Till The clouds roll by was a dissapointing one but hey! you can't have everything. I have been a fan of Judy's for, what seems like, a lifetime and I am definitely going to go out and find some more of her films. This film is a terrific comeback from a terrific actress, singer and dancer and is well worth watching... even if the stills are crap! YAY JUDY!
Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999)
brilliant
This film is hilarious. what can i say, go out and see it. i didnt think it was offensive at all. i think kirsten dunst is fantastic and she definitely should be given more roles in films. this film is brilliant.
Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994)
this is a great film
i saw this film when it was on tv and i liked it so much i went out and bought it on dvd.i thought tom cruise and brad pitt were excellent. and although many people are saying that there performances weren't that good i must disagree. cruise is brilliant as lestat as pitt also does an amazing job as louis but my all time favourite has to be dunst as claudia. i thought she was the best out of them all. im not saying she's a better actor but her role as clauia was really upsetting, especially when she is shouting at louis to make her a mum. at only 12 i thought dunst wa brilliant. i don't understand why she didn't win an award or her role as claudia.
she is just as good as haley joel osmont, if not better and after seeing this film i am a huge fan.
