The Last Days on Mars (2013)
Nonono... NOO! Not that!?
Liev Schreiber on Mars "doing battle"... I've seen way better.
The movie starts off promising. But soon becomes this sluggish goo of SciFi drivel which lacks total credibility half an hour into the movie! Wha? Serious? Yes! Serious.
A team of scientists is stationed on Mars and are investigating... WHAT? Then the team switch and a fresh pair of men is sent on their way. They only have 19 or so hours to spare before they have to go back home again with their results.
From then on... the movie becomes one slow elongated sob.... boohoohooo no more...?
!! SPOILER !!
Zombies from/ on Mars, period! I thought I had seen it all, apparently not! How ludicrous can one get!?
The Human Centipede (First Sequence) (2009)
Nasty... Nastier...Nastiest!! Sickest Psycho Shocker Ever!
The Human Centipede is too much to watch, even for a horror buff like me. I thought I had seen all the possible gore man ever invented to scare the daylights out of people but The Human Centipede easily surpasses all this by means of the powerful horrendous psychological impact smacking you flat in the face! I'm still having nightmares from this one a week after seeing it!

It's NOT the horror of the surgical procedure, done by the brilliant yet seriously deranged Dr.Heiter. Sewing three innocent victims together mouth to rectum and "fixing" their knees so they can't get up and escape.
No, the gruesome terror is in the ending! The Japanese guy slits his throat and Heiter, the only possible solution to the "centipede's" problem is shot in the head... Jenny dies a horrible death because of infection. Now hopelessly stuck, between the two dead bodies, with no possible way to escape her fate, we see Lindsay, the sole surviver of this experiment crying her left days away as the two dead bodies begin to discolor and decompose...
Not for the psychologically weak...! And certainly not suitable for younger viewers!
11-11-11 (2011)
A Totally Deja Vú Bore
This movie is one big bore. I sat it out but the story is pretty vague. The only thing what makes this movie worth watching is the fact that it can be classified as a "Religious Thriller" in which the 11.11 phenomenon plays the leading part.
For some dark reason the movie plot seems familiar, like as in: Why the heck does it seem so familiar? Haven't I seen this movie before? Good chance you might have. For all I know it could very well be released back in the 90's under another title...
I dare you to sit it out...Because no spectacular things are happening in it.It is not filmed in Hollywood style with tons of (CGI)effects. Instead of that the makers tried to keep the movie, acting and subject small yet prominently playing a part thru the whole movie. Good thing 'cause otherwise there wouldn't even BE a movie.
Plot line: Thin. Acting: Seen better. Effects: Poor and clearly, visibly applied.
Knowing (2009)
"Is life a coincidence, or a program being run?"
My oh my! What a dark movie this turns out to be! Yet one which you definitely need to sit out 'til the very end, simply because of the fact that Nicolas Cage is in it and he ROCKS! And because of the fact it tells a story of the demise of mankind in a Biblical, epic way! Did the director actually assimilate the Bible literally word by word? Or did he have it for dinner tasting its every word? It sure seems that way. Because what is at hand is literally of Biblical proportions...
This movie actually makes you think about life, about the relationships you have with others in this life, who you are, where you come from and where you'll be going!
Is life an accident, or a premeditated program being run, which actually serves a higher purpose? This is the key question in this movie. "Why did I get this prediction while there's nothing I can do about it? How am I supposed to stop the end of the world?"
The happenings in this movie make you think that you hold your life in your own hands, being responsible and accountable for every decision or move you make. Yet a twist in the story says otherwise...
I don't know what they combined in this story but to me it seems a combo of the oncoming 2012 cosmic "Desastrous" events and the book of Revelations. The end of the world is nigh, very nigh!
Mr. Cage should be awarded with an Oscar and the FX team too! Frightningly realistic effects are hurled towards the viewer, leaving him helpless in his seat while people die, aching to assist Cage on his quest to save people and unravel the harsh truth which isn't exactly a happy one.
This movie is a definite MUST SEE and a MUST HAVE when out on DVD/ Blu ray!
Saw (2004)
New Kinda Horror... Mindgames!
Saw... The movie which takes Horror to the very next level!
I won't give away too much of the story... But as used and quite immune as I got thru the years because of watching 'splattermovies', I was totally baffled by the style of this one! The true horror lies not in the way he murderer's victims die but in the onset of their demise.
On various locations people wake up with either a contraption wrapped around their head. Or they're locked to drainage pipes. You know who you are but you don't know what the heck you're doing at where you woke up. The culprit wants to play games... you're handed some tools and the game is on... "How much blood are you willing to shed, to stay alive?"
Play well, solve the riddles and live on... Make the wrong decision and you die. There's no turning back from a faulty choice!
This movie is not for the fainthearted... mainly because of the psychology it invokes... It had me on the edge of my seat several times! Add to that the knowledge that such people might really exist? Now wish yourself a quiet night's sleep! I didn't sleep too well afterwards.
The camera-work is excellently depicting the victims panic attacks prior to their eventual deaths, giving a clear feeling of claustrophobia and grim tension...time is precious!!
Shawnee Smith does very well as victim! She's gonna be a biggie in the future! She know's like no other to convey feelings towards the watcher of this flick! She masters a delicate balance between a puzzled teenager and a mature woman trying to make the police believe, that what she endured is true!
In the end your jaw will drop on the floor whilst a "what the hell?!" will sound...
If you like mind-games. This film is an ab-so-lute must!
War of the Worlds (2005)
A Genuine Spielberg Flick!
War Of The Worlds Spielberg Style: We take the original 1953 film, we take some elements from that. We take the Jeff Wayne album, and we again take some elements of that. We also read the original novel and we take some elements of that too. Then we add a ruined marriage, which presumably will be glued to one piece again in the end.
We'll make sure that Spielberg's hand is all over the movie, by adding STUNNING and extremely well done CGI FX which still show they're CGI. Although my belief is that they're really state of the art, you still can see too well that the tripods are computer generated.
We scare the living daylights out of the audience by building up so much suspense (The silent struggle scene!) that I almost took a bite out of the back of the seat in front of me. Add some genuine emotions (The Fear in Cruises eyes at one point, as well as fanning going berserk in the back of the van!) and we have a nice movie which leaves you a little disappointed as you leave...
One thing I missed in this movie was the famous battle cruiser "Thunderchild". The ferry scene pretty consistent with the book and album, yet in the book it was referred to as a 'little steamer' crammed full with refugees.
However the images of the tripods wreaking havoc are burned onto my retina... And I'll definitely will go and see it once more! It's not a waste of money, not even if it sees daylight on DVD!
Prison for Children (1987)
Sad Sob Story
Moving story about boys, who didn't do anything wrong from their point of view, are trying to break out of prison where they're supposed to stay until they reach the age of 21! WOW! Life imprisonment even before actual life has begun? Yes, it seems to exist. Later on in the move a somewhat slow (or autistic) older boy is incarcerated as well... But the last one won't make it outside. It is heartbreaking to see a young boy longing for freedom so bad can't make the breakout...even though he's convinced he didn't do anything wrong! He's even being punished harder than when he came in... My sympathy went out to the boy who was left behind...
This movie toys with your emotions! If you can keep your eyes dry with this TV flick, you'd have the personality of a fridge!
