Elysium (2013)
PARA QUE NUNCA OLVIDES DE DONDE VIENES :'V
I first approached this movie because of the art department director
I wasn't looking so much for a heart changing drama but instead a visually stunning piece, and I can tell you that whenever you see Don Macaulay's name in the art department on a movie, you are going to get something good for your dollar at lest visual effect wise, and this film did not disappoint achieving that.
Although the acting is pretty good and the casting is very well put together the script is weak & the writers really struggled on telling a story here, which is unfortunate because it is actually a great concept, I think this could've been the next big blockbuster if only they have had better writers. Every thing else was right on the spot.
You really don't need to see this movie, but if you are it might as well be in 4k so it's worth your time.
Pineapple Express (2008)
I wish I had a job like that. Where I could just sit around and smoke weed all day
Okay.
An honest review, this is hands down one of the worst scripts ever written it is just so convinient and predictable one can even say it's lazy writing, the cinematography is alright they didn´t try anything super special here, the acting works well, probably the casting is one of the few things that saved this title, it´s really one of those movies that you just need a bunch of weed for it to be slightly passable, I have to say I love it because I'm a stoner but is not really that fun to be honest. I think I liked it more the first time I watched it bach when weed got me really high x) not any more. (Saul Silverman is a great character though, I think he deserves a solo movie xD)
The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter (2018)
Legacy
This film is very organic, the dialog is just natural just American hunters talking with their heart it will probably warm yours, and the story is very simple no outstanding shots or cinematography you will be thinking by the middle of it that it's just another Netflix filler with nothing else to offer but a couple hours of good ol couch entertainment, and although it is true that this is not one of those movies that will have you cracking up every 2 seconds or on the edge of your sit for the action sequences; It does offer something that not every movie offers. A not so obvious message for the audience, and a moral that is not just evident like other movies. It's definitely not the best acting job by Brolin or the funniest McBride movie kids method acting is outstanding though I hope they give him a chance on Hollywood if he keeps it up like this he is going to end up big I hope he stays away from Netflix productions from now on, he was put toe to toe in the wild with two experienced good actors and manage it to keep up with them...
This movie I gotta say I almost thought it was a complete waist of my time, sure I had a few laughs, McBride always achieves this. Brolin was just playing the 'Murican we all love, and the kid had this snappy attitude that was pretty fun to watch. I wouldn't say the chemistry between them was great, and the story sure had a lot of holes on it and one could say it was slow at some points.
But that last sequence sure put a smile on my face, and only a few times that had happened to me that I get the whole meaning of a movie just two seconds before it ends.
Some people are born to be deer hunters, some people are born to be friends some are born to be fathers and some are born to be an aid.
Arctic (2018)
Cold
This is a complete tragedy from begining to end, no break for Mr. Arctic man whatsoever! Man, kinda makes you think what did this dude do to deserve all that s* xD Bad luck I guess... The story is very logical and well achived the soundtrack is just beautiful, and the cinematography is something you really should take the chance of appreciating for sure. The acting is ok Mads makes a great effort and one can tell how hard it was for him to complete this movie, he doesn't quite kill the close up shots yet, but I really think he is getting there, after all that is something only the greatest can achive :v he does know how to express the emotion tho and I just think it's a matter of being a little bit les scared of looking at the camera and he'll become the next legend.
I rate this 9 out of 10 because I believe any art's supposed to transmit an emotion, and even though it's not quite my topic it did have my heart broken for like half of the movie. Very good.
Justice League: War (2014)
IT´S THAT SUPERMAN? :V
It's animated super hero movie.
It's not very good.
Another one from the pile. Good for a flight or if you are trying to kill a couple hours. nothing memorable here.
Hey, your 8 year old will probably love it.
I would rate it 2 but that would be mean considering this movie is most likely dedicated to the younger audiences.
Chronicle (2012)
APEX PREDATOR
Whenever I see one of these first person movies, I think it is because the director doesn't want to mess with real cinematography and probably the casting lack good acting skills, I always think it's something studios do to save on the budget...
Well it might be the case for some films, but not for this movie, not at all...
The characters are very well develepoed troughout the movie you get to identify with the main characters and even some of the secondary ones, the script is subtle and well put, the director manages to make respectable takes even with this format, adding that to an exciting plot and creative climax.
Turns this movie into an instant classic underground thriller. 9/10
It really is a movie that any one can relate to even if the main character might not really relate to you.
Arizona (2018)
SONNY
How do you expect to make a thriller movie casting Danny McBride?
Well I guess you just try to do it, and this movie is a great example of trying, but I think sometimes in cinema industry trying is just not enough.
Are you for real or are you not? are you kidding or are you serius? It's like characters live in two separate worlds I do not understand... But maybe that's the cool part about it.
It's one of those movies with a lack of tone that you just watch cause of that particular comedian and end up asking yourself wtf did I just watch? I guess it's good, worth the while. lol
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007)
The wrong kid died
It's a very funny rude comedy with terrible acting.
I love me my guilty laughs, music is well put together, John C. Reilly shows some good singing skills and I can even appreciate the silly humor and silly tone of the movie really warmed my heart.
But I can't forgive the fact that the acting is mostly terrible, if it wasn't for Jenna Fischer, I would've probably given this a five a five and not a four only for the miracle.
Thank god for sense of smell! x)
Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013)
One hell of a messenger
I've always loved the flash. But man this guy having to outrun a completely healthy, trained version of himself with a god damn iron rod going through his leg, If that's not heroic I don't know what is.
I have to give this Superhero Movie a 9 out of 10. Only because I wish there were more frames in the animation.
IT'S AWESOME
Heavenly Creatures (1994)
Heavenly Creatures Indeed (Innocence)
I approached this movie on my quest for finding the aesthetic. Having in mind the beautiful cinematography on TLOTR directed by Peter Jackson I tried to trace back the talent to his first movie I was surprised to find curiously enough that this picture was filmed mostly on the same location, New Zeland; One can understand why this director finds a home for the magic in his movies in these Islands. Neither Peter Jackson nor New Zeland disappointed on fulfilling my expectations and soothing my eye with the most beautiful tones and pictures. Set in the 1950's the costumes and overall scenography were magnificent and very well put.
A heartwarming relatable story if you have ever had a true friend, with an exciting plot twist. One would never imagine such heavenly creatures, could ever have this fate.
The Ladykillers (2004)
Born in 1996 and loved it
Me that I have never had the chance to see the original 1955 film, had a wild ride with this movie. Offcourse the story is great and we have to give credit to the original writer, but I think people are not appreciating the beautiful cinematography, the scenography the great cast and acting from each one of the well built characters, it's a beautiful picture just like I expected from the Cohen brothers.
