Not the best not the worst
20 August 2011
If you are watching this movie, you probably picked it up for $5 at Wal- Mart like I did than your expectations are as low as the price tag and the budget...... anyways this movie is good for what it is, the directing as it could be better has a good vision that is executed. The cinematography and camera work is the best part of this film. The angles they use are very effective and the lens used creates the dark and gloomy "saw" effect.

The absolute worst part that keeps this movie from actually being something awesome is the acting, it is very forced and seems like they are not interested in the movie at all, honestly high school film students can portray characters better than this, but the acting as it is bad its also "good" because its funny. Along with the acting is the writing which its not bad but the delivery ruins it.

Here is my gripe about the film, the post production work is what kept this from being a "cool boobs, blood, bad guy" campy horror flick. The voices are off so many times sometimes they say different words than what is heard. The foley and SFX along with the ambient music is good but the actors voice overs are just as bad as their screen performances.

I think the story is the best part of this and if you want to get some friends to have some beers with and have some laughs see some boobs, blood, and bad guys kicking ass than watch this its a movie for $1.25 (it came with 3 others) and you get what you pay for.

Best of all of them
20 August 2011
This movie is awesome especially in 3D the producer definitely knew the Final Destination series was going south and had to do something to save it. They did The best part is the Special FX from the CGI to the 3D visuals they look like something out of Inception. They are truly very realistic and appealing. Also the post and sound effects are well done nothing except a word or two out of sync.

The worst part(didn't ruin the movie by any means) was the acting of Nicholas D'Agosto(Sam) was a little stiff at times, he seemed very rehearsed but for a young actor he has a great career after this film. Miles Fisher(Tom Cruise 2.0) did a believable job but the standout acting was of course the HORROR MOVIE LEGEND!!!! Tony Todd, the man is brilliant everything he touches turns to gold. Also Jacqueline MacInnes Wood was awesome she stood out above everyone and was the most believable of all characters.

Final Destination 5 was arguably the best movie in the series. It has a solid story and a awesome ending, the acting is good but not great but its a horror flick and by saying that I haven't seen a horror flick with such amazing CGI. Go see it you won't be disappointed

Wolf Creek (2005)
Very Real
20 August 2011
This movie is what others try to be, its not overly graphic with gore but it lets the story build up and the actors to execute what horror is and should be.

It doesn't feel cheap or low budget, but very VERY well done, from the directing to special effects(blood, gore) to the post production and audio. Which is where the movie won me over the audio is amazing, from the actors voice overs to the soundtrack that sends chills down your spine.

Now the acting is truly topnotch as everything is very realistic and that is what makes horror movies scary is that they can happen, none of what happens in Wolf Creek is out of this realm. And I guess the whole "based on true events" thing is played out(even if its true or not)it helps towards the realism of the film. Also as far as shock factor goes it won't make you throw up or have nightmares but it will make you think before taking something from a stranger.

The way horror movies are going and have been for this past decade is that everything needs to be more shocking and I know this was made in 2005 but that was the birth of this new shock genre which gave way to films like A Serbian Film, Martyrs, Ichi, and Hostel. But Wolf Creek gets back to basics and shows that CGI and gore aren't required to make a scary film.
