Nymphomaniac: Vol. I (2013)
Pay attention
I have to chime in here, despite the fact that the movie has been out for nearly 10 years. I see all these 1 star reviews and words like "boring" so casually yet so viciously thrown about. If you found this movie boring then you're not paying attention. Perhaps you've lead a rather "boring" sex life yourself or have never thought deeply about your sex life and how it effects your life outside of sex. Perhaps you're not a woman who has been buried in her own sexual-existential thoughts for most of her life. If you are a man, watch this movie and try to learn from it, but know that you will need to read carefully and vigilantly between the lines. Pay attention to the symbolism and comparison in this movie. Pay attention to the very subtle and delicate hints of emotion in this movie; The barely perceptible facial expressions, whispers of touch and affection. The only reason I gave this movie 9 stars instead of 10 is that Shia LaBeouf should never ever do a British accent again. Other than that, year after year I continue to applaud this brave, sensual, and thought provoking film.
The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter (2018)
Like a home movie of my husbands family.
For the wife of a North Carolina hunting/fire arms/four-wheeler enthusiast, and the mother of a less than enthusiastic pre-teen child, this was a funny and true to life movie. It may have lacked certain cinematic criteria for those untouched by the subtle nuances and fragility of Carolina mountain men, but for me it was just right. Much like the white tail deer, the emotions of a camouflage clad man only appear at a distance and for a short time, but when they do, it is an awesome thing to behold and all you want to do is, shoot em, stuff em, and hang em on your wall so you can say "Look! They do exist! I saw it with my own eyes and put it on display for all to see." I digress. This movie is so fitting for those represented by it's characters. Just funny enough, just true enough, and beautifully familiar scenery to boot.
Cobra Kai (2018)
I freakin LOVE this show - but the joke is on some of you.
This show is awesome and amazing and truly shows how we don't always know both sides of the story. But the real reason I wanted to post this review? Hey guys! You know all of you who keep ragging on the remake with Will Smith's so? Guess who's an executive producer of this show?.....well that would be Mr. Will Smith himself lol. Not saying it was a great movie, but I just had to put that out there.
